You have to learn about how Michael childhood was like to understand how much he wanted kids to be protected and enjoying their lives. He wasn't the monster who took advantage of children. He said he was open to many religions and was simply curious, but to him it was not about the form, because God is love and he felt the presence of God through joy, happiness, music and dance. This is what God was to him, nothing to do with particular religion, ideology.
