Can I offer a suggestion. Use the test pads to test the fuse that is on the board instead of trying to test the ends of the fuse. The pads are clean and will give a better reading.
Great shout! Thanks :)
Yep, Amperage, the strength of an electric current in amperes. (Amps is a shortened word of Amperes, named after physicist André-Marie Ampère ) 👍
I can guess how many months old a video is by how much you've improved, which shows how far you've come!
Remembered when you began. You’ve improved soooooo muchhhhhhh. Great job joey.
Thankyou bud, I know it’s crazy! :)
Good day buddy so enjoy your videos please keep them coming and here to help get your videos out to everyone to enjoy 😊😊😊😊😊
That M92 Chip was dancing away🤣 Lovely jobly. You really get your way around those soldering jobs.
I couldn't keep it still haha! Thankyou for continuing to be a member Leon :)
@@JoeyDoesTech My pleasure. Thank you for thr good entertainment.
Awesome fix Mr. Joey! Wow, you're going to give the Cod3r, a run for his money. 🙂
No where near his level haha, but I appreciate the comment! :)
7:25 , "We should see this chip dance into place " . Legged chips will not do that , only BGA chips will do that because they are free floating.
Pleased to see you got it sorted and working
YEEEES!!!! Finally one that works, those devices are really hard to repair omg.
Im here now with a switch v1, x2 2dsxl (upper screen), 3ds xl (upper screen too) and 2 3ds to be converted in a game boy macro hehe
New vid from Joey, good times
Soldering is one of those skills you need to practice. You may damage a few boards beyond repair but you will save many more
Very good work, you really have the knack to the usb-c ports now.
Another great fix and another great Video Joey. Keep them coming! Maybe a livestream too soon at some point? 👀
Thankyou Malek! It’s long overdue isn’t it :) hopefully I’ll do one soon!
@@JoeyDoesTech sounds good! Be sure to make a community post beforehand so we can all tune in and get the numbers up 😊
1:69 that's why i wash any console or used game I get before I work on it or play with it
At least you are not wearing latex gloves when soldering, I have a few colleagues that have been burnt. It is bad enough having a burn, but when you have molten rubber on the top it really upsets your day.
😂😂😂
6:17 you accidentally touched the shorted line with your bent probe lol the 2nd cap wasn’t shorted… but check the port before applying power 🥴 good video as always 👍
Ah I see this now Roy! Thanks as always 😅
We can’t all get it perfect like Steve at TronicsFix but we can but try haha
No one will EVER come close 🤣🤣
Another Super Job Joey!! Keep at it.
Thanks bud!
Nice work on that one! Though I think you need to handicap yourself for the next one - left handed soldering perhaps? :P
Awesome Video Joe does tech
That's a big W! Keep up the amazing work!
Nice buy and nice fix Joey, your soldering skills really have improved. also nice to see that sometimes you also struggle with some chips but that's totally normal :D. Great video
Another great video Joey thanks
You must try voltage injection, this is much easier, unless you don't have thermal camera.
I have my first switch on the way, tablet only, 120$ canadian it cost me, ~£75 for comparison, never managed to grab a cheaper one :(
ooo best of luck Phynx let me know how it goes!
Well done Joey nice fix bud
Muhaha when I think it's going to be a fix than I put it all together too so that doesn't sound silly to me xD
When it doesn't work it sucks more though and I put it away for a week or longer usually. When you think it's going to work but than it doesn't is way worse than when you already think it's a long shot. But when it works when you think it isn't its the best feeling.
I'm new at this. So sorry if it's a stupid question :p - But why do you add leaded solder when removing the solder? Why not just remove the old, without applying new first? :) - Btw I love your videoes!
Very nice job 👏 your soldering is fantastic now
Also I didn't quite catch what you said during little britain reference.
“Yeah I know” - little Britain reference 😁
unusually light color on the pcb hmmm
I paid £50 for 2 broken MacBooks, one had a dead screen, the other had a fried motherboard, 2 broke made a working
Love this!
EBay. Hunting. Faulty Nintendo. Switch!
great job joey!
Hahahah, you've made me laugh, Joey :D. This whole in the glove protects you :D, good one :D.
I've got 3 questions by the way:
1. Why you've used so much airflow? I'd be scared to knock of the components on the back and that the M92 will be doing what it did? Is it working OK at other times? Surface tension works for me, but when the aligments in ideal, or nearly ideal. Especially with QFN type of chips I have to align it the best I can and either a small air flow, or holding it down. I can't od it otherwise :).
2. What's the difference of first cleaning off the flux, than removing this blob of solder, and than applying flux again if the flux in a first place wasn't burned out?
3. Can you PM me on Discord with your Bday, please? :) I'll buy you some board holder ;). It's a pain to my eyes to see this board up and down and left to right all the time :D.
Hope you don't mind my questions :).
And, bridging those caps on the side of M92 chip is easy done :) here as well :). So, yes 10 x easier is to use a wick. I use the same technique :).
On point 1) i am with you , that sort of chip you need to get aligned as close to perfect as possible , hold down and then bring in the hot air
Good job Joey.
In every video I see why USB-C is the wrong decision and why lightning is better.
That m92 is like no I'm not going on here
It didn’t want to!
Your soldering skills have come a long way. That port change was a very tidy job. I'm properly jealous 😁
I guess I have to finish building my fume extractor tomorrow and get back into it. Your video just gave me the motivation I was lacking.
Glad to hear! :) thanks for watching
Joey, you mean current when you say amperage. Current! 😀
£50. Faulty Nintendo. Switch. Can. We. Make a profit?
Amperage isn't a word ;-)
Hey Joey, do you (or anyone else) have any tips for getting solder to stick to a via? I am trying to repair a resistor (on a Switch OLED, so very tiny components) whose solder pads came off. On one side there is a big trace that I was succesfully able to solder on, but on the other side I only have a via hole left and even after scratching it (I can see shiny copper) the solder just does not want to stick to it. I'm using an abundance of flux to still no luck so far :/
Joey, I was wondering, what flux do you use? Also, I always assumed the gloves were heat proof so you don't burn yourself once you've heated up a board. I always glove up with this sort of thing for the same reasons, you never know what dirt you're going to get on your hands.
I use Kingbo RMA 218 bud :)
@@JoeyDoesTech awesome! Thanks!
What do you suggest for a beginner microscope?
The Andonstar microscopes :) - andonstarmicroscope.com/?ref=JDT
Amperage is a word but Current is better
If you put the console back together before testing, and people go to the comments to moan, doesn't RUclips see that as engagement anyway?
He actually does this for a job hey guys lol. Not just a hobbiest at home.
Yeah been doing it for two months now :)
@JoeyDoesTech ey fairplay . I just assumed you were an average guy learning at home😅 I don't even no why . Guess you just learn faster now .
@@harrysmith5353 I was up until two months ago 😅 It’s taken two years to get to this nooby level, so not a fast learner 😆
@JoeyDoesTech Your skilled honestly . Knowledable calm consise.
