    There are 6 continents Jeremy.
"Europe" is part of the Eurasian continent. Europe doesn't even qualify as a Sub-continent like India, the Middle-East and Indo-China, where there is a clear major Fault line and separation of land-masses

Mayhaps it's changed over the years and there are technicalities
But I know people my age were raised being taught there were 7
      Europe and Asia counted separately
So he's not wrong but definitions may have changed since he and I were in school
Just like with Pluto no longer being a planet
It was when I was in school
      Or it's just regional

This is one of those times where a person trying to appear smart is incorrect, and it's hilarious. In North America(where this game is made and where Jeremy lives), it is accepted that there are 7 continents. Europe and Asia are separate, as continents aren't defined by any strict criteria, because there are too many separating factors. Otherwise, why is Greenland or the Arctic not their own continents, etc?

    • @caseyr1154
      @caseyr1154 2 года назад +2

Being taught 6 or 7 continents depends on where you live in the world and how old you are.
None of it matters though because there's actually a recently discovered 8th continent- Zealandia. It's almost entirely underwater other than New Zealand.

      @@georgeeast5502
Your logic is flawed and grossly incorrect. It is ignorant of facts and history.
A continent is a major landmass, atop a continental plate.
      By definition of the word.
Greenland is classified as a large island as It is also located on the North American Plate, and North America is by far the larger Land Mass on that plate. If it were on it's own plate, it would probably qualify as a continent at roughly the same size as Australia.
The arctic is mostly all ice and islands and part of other plates, not earth/land, so there is no landmass to qualify as a continent, or separate plate to give it the possibility.
Whereas the Antarctic IS considered a continent because it is a giant landmass with a dedicated continental plate.
The only separation between "Europe" and "Asia" is sociopolitical. And the western world uses maps from western cartographers who were influenced by European ideals of superiority and other racists / classist bullshit, when the maps were drawn up hundreds of years ago, when the English, French and Spanish ruled the "Civilized" world.
How do you otherwise explain Turkey, which is part of the European part of the Eurasian continent, but is considered the Middle-East / North-African Sub-continent, or Russia, which lays claim to an unbroken expanse of about 1/3 of all of the Asian part of the Eurasian Continent but is considered European?
And how do you explain the clearly classified subcontinent of India? By all appearances it should be part of the Asian Landmass as a whole, but when referenced geographically is singled out.
There's a lot more nuance to the world and how it operates than what you learned in 5th grade geography.
And while using Europe or Asia as outdated shorthand for sociopolitical delineations may be acceptable, it is not scientifically accurate to do so from a strictly geographical reference, under any circumstance. There is no geographical reason for the two to be considered as separate entities.

I'm probably at least as old as you.
Schools have a habit of abridging and distorting facts in grade school, and not clarifying them until High School if you're lucky, or college (or beyond) if you're not.
The classification of Pluto has been hotly debated for many decades, mostly due to it's irregular orbit. And while it was declassified as a full normal planet, it had a new classification coined for it in "Dwarf Planet", so it is still a planet. With I believe 2 or 3 other celestial bodies within our solar system being debated for the new classification now.
While schools taught that Europe and Asia were separate continents, that did not make them correct, and it was a hold-over from racist colonial biases creating a false border.
Russia is a good example. Stretches from Finland to Japan and takes up all of Northern "Asia" but is considered a European country.
This was never corrected because for most people Geography isn't important, and it wouldn't be corrected later in life. So what they learned in Grade and Middle School became the assumptions" the west" operated under.
