For 65k you get no real long travel suspension, less space and less payload due to batteries. I hope ppl show Toyota this is a free market they don't want it for that price.
Full size truck price without even the capability of a midsize truck due to essentially no back seat because of gimmicky front seats that nobody asked for. Not even underseat storage due to hybrid battery. Toyota has lost it.
Just so we’re on the same page… the amount of back seat room, determines the capability of the truck?
@@andyackerman7123 Nope, but a truck should have storage/cargo space, and at least reasonable leg room if they bothered with a back seat. TRD pro does not have that.
does if your carry a family of four
@@AllTerrainNation I think we have a different definition of “capability.”
I feel like the truck does what it does, regardless of who is able to come along.
@@andyackerman7123 hauling people and gear is a "capability" that is scored by everyone when comparing trucks side by side.
Worth the price? Nope. Traded in my 19 pro for a ranger raptor. And paid 10 grand less for it.
Thinking you made the right move. Extended warranty please, but yah! Love the RRaptor.
Thank god for my third gen! Take a look at 4th gen sales. Even factoring in the delay of production in the beginning this isn't selling!
It looks cool but I got my Ranger raptor at MSRP and I think it’ll
Be a better street performer , I also think it looks a little better.
As soonest Toyota confirmed fancy bulky front seats, I knew that wasn't for me. Price is another factor. Everybody likes something else and another war which one is better are usless. Buy whatever you like and what you can afford. For my needs, RR is a better choice, more room in rear seats, and I think with the adaptive suspension will be better ride quality. Ordered iconic silver for msrp.
Got my Ranger Raptor at MSRP, much as I love the Tacoma couldn't justify that price. And that's IF you can buy a TRD Pro at sticker.
It's way too expensive. I saw a brand new Colorado ZR2 in the dune color yesterday and it was $14K less than this build. $14K is a lot of cool accessories.
Yes it is!
I’ll stick with my Ranger Raptor
Better be driving it :-)
@@AllTerrainNation I’m headed back to land Wednesday. I’ll have a nice little 3 hour ride back home.
Window tint, ceramic coating, bed cover and a 10” sub and amp installed under the backseat.
Ranger only became cool when they added Raptor to it. Otherwise, it's underwhelming for the price.
@@trl1980 what’s better for the price?
@RRAPTOR24 For $70-$80k? 2024 Lexus TX, Tundra Hybrid, Tahoe, Silverado, F-250, BMW Sedans, Benz CLE 300, Charger Scat Pack w Hemi, or x2 Honda Ridgelines. These or a Ford friggin' Ranger.
FX4 Frontier, loaded out with rear locker for $33,000, great 9 speed and v6. Why on earth would you buy a turbo 4 for 50k which is also too busy on the exterior
Damn I have a deposit for the Tacoma pro..But if I can get a ranger raptor for msrp , I am out .
Look at zr2.
Tacoma pro doesn't even have long travel suspension for 65 k lol
My dealer is offering me the trd pro with no markups just have to shop around
@andyp303 msrp is still $15k over a zr2 . I've never owned a chevy in my life but they made that the best deal out there.
To each there own. Wish you luck with the zr2. I have had a tacoma since 2012 and have had absolutely 0 problems with it. Now after putting 160k on it time for an upgrade. I'm pretty set financially so don't really bother paying for something I want.
If Toyota were only releasing the TRD Pro and the Trail Hunter they'd be dead in the water against the competition based on price alone. However, considering the TRD Off Road is ninety five percent of what the Pro is at roughly $15,000 less and their other Tacoma's are more than capable enough for most buyers they're still going to keep their sales lead. That said, Toyota has opened the door wider for other manufacturers to step in than they have since Ford gave up to mid size truck crown to Toyota nearly 15 years ago.
The TRD Pro is a completely loaded out TRD Off Road with few options and very little real world capability increase. The only major distinction between the Off Road and the Pro besides the Fox shocks is the long travel seat that Toyota chose rather than a longer travel suspension to compete in the high speed desert running category. Maybe that made sense to someone in Toyota but when you take a truck off the wash board and put it on a trail where wheel travel is needed the nearly two inches they are giving up to Chevy and Ford starts to be a pain in the butt no fancy seat can cure. If, that is, anyone other than the occasional RUclipsr ever challenged any of these trucks to an extreme where the real differences became apparent. Almost no first buyer of these trucks is going to risk their $50,000 to $66,000 investment that way. Minus the high speed washboard stuff the TRD Off Road is the Tacoma to get. Same crawl control. Same locking rear diff. Same clearances and functionally the same travel and with the optional front sway bar disconnect the base engine model as I would build it comes in at $46,895 and the I-Force Max version equipped the same way comes in at $51,180. So with the I-Force Max version I get the same everything except 50 MPH wash board shocks and a rear leg room robbing front seat while saving $14,715. The Pro is the same sort of auto jewelry that a King Ranch or Denali is in the full size world. Functional and capable but usually owned by someone who will never use a tenth of it's functions or capabilities.
Think about this. A likely more capable and roomier Colorado ZR2 equipped as nearly apples to apples to the TRD Pro as I could get cost just $51,060 compared to a no options TRD Pro at $65,895. A 29% savings. All the goodies and superior capability while saving $14,835? Yes, please. A marginally less capable but, again, roomier and still exceedingly capable Ranger Lariat model with the FX4 package which matches everything the TRD Pro has from a luxury point AND was priced with the 2.7 liter V6 came in at just over $53,500. Hmm, all the real world capability and luxury needed with a V6 for $12,395 less? Yeah, the Pro is sounding worse and worse. But wait, there's more! If I want all the capability I will ever actually need while still getting all the functional luxuries and some of the frivolous ones included with the TRD Pro there is an even more value oriented truck. One with a naturally aspirated V6 in a truck that has consistently been rated as high in reliability (sorry Toyota fans, it's true) as the Tacoma and it's the Frontier PRO-4X. Is it every bit as capable off road as the TRD Pro? Nope. Is it as capable as it needs to be to match anything almost any real buyer of the TRD Pro who's not a RUclipsr will actually do with their TRD Pro? Yep. And at $45,155 equipped with everything but a sunroof and leather which I don't want either of I still have $20,740 left in the bank versus buying the TRD Pro. That's nearly a 46% savings!
If I'm buying a Tacoma it's going to be a base engine model TRD Off Road. If I'm Buying a Chevy it's gotta be the ZR2. A Ranger in the XLT trim with the high package, 2.7 liter TTV6, FX4 package and spray in liner. That one stickers at a hair over $46,000. A generous 42% automatic discount for a truck that does more of everything than the TRD Pro except the things no one except 18 guys in the desert southwest do for a near $20,000 savings? Yep, sounds good to me. And, like I said, for Nissan it's the PRO-4X.
Best comment I’ve read in a while!
I am not a Chevrolet guy, but Colorado Trail Boss makes more sense. Interest are way too high and that’s important too.
You had me at “cockpit”
I'm in Canada and just bought a 24 TRD offroad manual base model. It was only about 3k more then the 23. But the Pro in Canada is 18k more then last year. But I am really liking the 24 Tacoma so far.
Nice! We like the truck but Pro pricing is bad
That all black @2:10 mark really reminds me of McFly's truck from Back to the Futrure.
MARTY!
I would love to get the tacoma but for that price is a hard no for me. Ill take that money and put a down payment for another house
For that money should have the Tundra engine
Toyota really showed what they think of their buyers by charging this for a midsize pickup. You can get a lot nicer truck for a lot less. What a shame toyota went down the massive profits greed route. The one plus is the CEO will waive at you when he rides by on his yacht.
I was hpoing to buy a new Tacoma Sport model. With the current msrp's, i refuse to spend over $40k for a $32k truck. I'll likley be purchasing the Frontier. The Tacoma is best known for being reliable, practical and affordable. Now we have a new unproven smaller 4 cylinder engine that Toyota has not proven will be reliable with just common truck use. We have been robbed of the reliability, robbed of it being affordable which delets the practical reasoning for buying a Taco.
66K + dollars for a four cylinder truck is WAY WAY TOO MUCH. You get more truck in Ford ranger raptor for less. Forget about it.
White. Don’t like the extra charge for white paint.
HONDA RIDGELINE!! Best mid-sized truck.
Very disappointing. The only way you can get a 6ft bed hybrid offroad version is with the trail hunter. Can't even build a trd offroad hybrid with a 6ft bed. 65K is a hard pill to swallow for a midsize truck. My platinum tundra 4x4 with a 6.5 bed costs 67k
like it but to much luxury car for me , trd pre runner is the one I like but will we ever see any ? same with the sr or sr5 extra cabs 4x4
Forsberg Edition goods on a Nissan Frontier Pro4x w/V6, likely had for $50k seems the better deal….come on Toyota. 😢
Hmm.. which one would I pick…? Oh, that’s right… none. $65K starting price!!?? NOPE.
WTF is the point of the configuration-tool if you can't even order it. Their entire model is through dealer allocation and you are basically wishing someone has it.
Nope. I am priced out. Too bad I guess. What a rust kill!
ALMOST 70K NO THANKS!!
My honest opinionit’s not worth it after set and done like you said about taxes and title and fees not including not including the Interest that depends on the person credit it would be better to get the tundra Trd pro
Nope. Nissan is a viable alternative if you want Japanese. Colorado ZR2, future Ranger Tremor V6 all good alternatives. As Ironman once said "Okay, Mr. Toyota, if all your going to do is come at us with a plucky attitude, we're gonna buy some other manufacturer's midsize truck". I'm pretty sure Ironman said that.
The Tacoma is too basic. It's the Nokia of trucks.
I won’t pay those prices. Smart people should now it’s not worth it. Buying trucks now isn’t a good financial decision.
I would still get this over a Ranger raptor. Don’t trust ford reliability.
Ford has been putting the 3.0T in cars for a while, engine seems good. Long travel stock on the Raptor. Toyota decided to wash themselves down the drain.
@@sf8334 I think if I’m not mistaken they are having issues with that exact engine , complete failures? I remember seeing something about it. Their 4 cylinder ecoboosts aren’t bad.
Toyota has the most quality customer complaints since 2016.
All prices are high. Was quoted $80k for 2024 ranger raptor out the door. Sticker price for the raptor was $59,700. So I don’t understand when people say the ranger raptor is cheaper lol
@@GarrettArakaki-ch3vp if you ordered it or find a dealer that doesn't do mark-ups.
The TRD Pro is a joke who the hell wants a hybrid and then go bashing in the dunes that sounds like a recipe for disaster I waited for the new Tacoma to come out just to see what they were doing when I saw that it was a hybrid and they wanted over 65,000 for a TRD sport here in Canada I laughed in their face and went across the street and got a Colorado ZR2 for 60k
Looks like a Ford lover site, a Raptor is about $100,000 + after its all added. Very poor and unrealistic comparison based on opinions and not facts. Like I said, this is a Toyota Tacoma bash site.
LOL.. We are not a Toyota bash site.. We have a great relationship with the brand.
Our current long term tester Ranger Raptor was 58k.. Our next planned long term tester is the 4 Runner
It’s worth the price, if they throw in two other trucks as a bonus-the engines are over worked crap and all for politics. Made in Mexico quality already showing QC issues-the paint job is the least of my concerns!
Wayyyyyyyyyy toooooooo expensive!
Whack ass truck! Turbo sucks, overpriced, not as reliable & harder to work on. Toyota dropped the ball
Toyota has been and continues to RIP OFF its customers at every turn. The Ford Ranger Raptor is a much better deal on every level.
Nice, but too many trim levels.
Yeah I know
NO
The Raptor or the ZR2 all day over the Trd .
Overhyped/Overpriced Tacoma. Interesting to see where the numbers fall into place on sales of this platform since the rest of the 2024 “fleet” are losing significant sales compared to last year at this time.😳🥱
I like TRD Pro Tacoma but the price is ridiculous, especially when the Raptor offers more for less money.
No, I would not buy the TRD Pro.
I think 🤔 all the truck is ugly and way over priced and 4 cylinder 😅Not today or tomorrow 66 thousand dollars..Come on red seats.
I would not give ten cents for a piece of crap turbo engine in anything
Truck people go to highest trim then complain being over priced and has stuff then don’t need. Um go to the less expensive trims then. Yea are they even over priced yes . But being over dramatic by going to the expensive trims is foolishness.
Clearly you have not watched our channel because we do build and prices on most trims. Being overly dramatic in a comment is just as foolish
Black exterior, red interior start offering a V-6 with a 8 or 10 speed auto, and made in Japan. Price it had $61,000 and I'll buy it!
