We're already getting 2020 period pieces 😭😭
Best comment
Yeah- history is moving pretty fast if you look at your window, you’ll see we already have a new Hitler
There have been quite such period pieces made from India - India Lockdown, Bheed, Kennedy
How’d you guess my McDonald’s order…?
Dumb money started it first
This is going to warrant the most peaceful discussion on Twitter, I guarantee it.
Twitter is just a bunch of Nazis now
fk social media. worst thing to happen to society. the internet itself should have never gone outside.
😂
Why should we care about that lol
@IrishFinalExit Bro, you're on the internet (RUclips) and you hate the internet? 😂
I’m sure this movie is going to be warm and comforting in typical Ari aster fashion
Let’s start taking bets on the body count. Over or under 15?
It's going to truly be a film about family that is a laugh for the kids and parents alike. Just like Pixar used to be.
@caseymetcalfe7191 atleast 15-25 easily
and full of sunlight and flowers @MotoFishy
Its why we love him so.
The theater near me literally has 3 Pedro Pascal movies playing
He's a democratic plant.
lucky
He was grinded to pieces in Kingsman 2. Now his pieces are everywhere
lol..."literally?" Do you mean it has 3 Pedro Pacal movies playing?
He had a late glow up, it's understandable. Love Pedro, he's great.
i can't wait to watch a wholesome reflective piece on how enjoyable 2020 was
Aw man, I had a genuine belly laugh when I read your comment!
same dude. the review "laser accurate view on america at the time" I'm expecting to come true when I see it. if the movie lives up to the trailer's sale points, this movie will be twenty years ahead of its time
2020 was one of the best years if you lived in the right part of the country.
2020 mostly peaceful protesters 😂😂 standing 🧍♂️ in line like sheep 🐑 going straight to the slaughterhouse if I didn't see it , I would have never believed the icing on the cake the mockingbird media made Jim crow ( Biden) a hero in the Black community 😂😂 , he's been dead since 2020 he got a 3 gun salute 🫡 !
Pedro Pascal fatigue is real.
1:50 that shot of the five star critic appearing as the gun keeps shooting 👌🏼
Cinema!!!
Is that all it takes to appease you imbeciles
Marketing 101
2:00 What does the woman say?
Pascal was so defensive when it came to jk Rowlings views recently, however he has absolutely no issue with joakin disrespectfully treating lgbt related film project!
Bitter about not getting the role in upcoming tv series, pedro?!!! 😂😂😂😂
Pathetic!
God damn Pedro, doesn't your family miss you?
He has no family.
It's like 9-5 for him out there
He’s single with no kids. Mans been waiting his whole life for this moment and he is capitalizing.
@fuelbot How can we miss him if he won't go away? He's Last-Call Larry who won't leave your house at the end of the party.
he is single so...might as well use the opportunity
This movie is aging like fine wine
Not everything A24 floats my boat, but man they are one of the extremely few film companies doing anything different and I love them for that.
Recently it's been garbage tho
@Fleshrottingoffthebone friendship was pretty good imo
Bring her back@Fleshrottingoffthebone
@Fleshrottingoffthebone i saw the TV glow is literally a masterpiece
@Fleshrottingoffthebone warfare was good
Thank God Pedro Pascal is back. I haven't been seeing him for minutes.
very original gag
@JoeChillton this from a guy who said "A24 keeps on delivering like the post office! 🤦♀
You really think Pedro is the only actor in existence to be in a lot of things in a short period of time due to his popularity? I wish I was a clueless as you
In his defense TLOU S2 & Mandalorian are only like 5 days of work total so it’s inflated the # of projects he’s appearing in all at once
I guess . . . but he's had 9 films in the past 3 years with 3 more coming out in 2025. So, it isn't like he had left the big screen.
The escalation of violence from verbal to slap and suddenly to machine gun is highly frightening.
America baby
@f.n.246 Well, don't accept it. Because it's not true. Don't confuse a frustration for being unable to reach one another politically as hatred. Certain folks at the very top would love nothing more than for us to spend more time tearing away at each other and paying less attention to them.
Welcome to America.
@tensaikingX the opinion of a sheltered fool no doubt.
It's like the 2001 time jump from monkey bone tool to space station, but our daily lives and not progress
Just saw it last night. Movie definitely requires a rewatch or two, it satirizes both sides of the political divide and has that dash of ari aster's craziness. I don't think this is Ari's best film, but I need to rewatch it at least one more time before I come to that conclusion. I sorta wish the movie delved deeper into certain plot lines and character backgrounds. Overall, I did enjoy the movie.
That's a good review. Thank you
Requires a rewatch? Yup, that’s definitely an Ari Aster film!
@astral_fetus Not without an air sickness bag, size XL!
I watched is yesterday. It was the worst movie I've ever seen in my life. What a pile of garbage. I can't believe they spent $25 million to produce such shit. They even had to toss in a shot of Joaquin Phoenix's dick. Utter desperation.
@jx14aby i better also be seated at a minimum of 6 feet away from every person around me as well, or else there will be hell to pay
The fact that ari aster could turn the six feet protocol into an instantly iconic neo western line is very impressive.
Simp
@justincider8892nice one Justin
@justincider8892stay glued to Fox News they need the viewers
Nah lol
@GodisFrisky Tf did Fox News come from? The irony on a trailer making fun of people who say dumb stuff like that.
Excited to see Joaquin Phoenix in this, he always looks and behaves completely differently in every film he performs in. True acting.
Yes, a gifted actor, but I think that he bottled it with Napoleone 😕
That's a very specific observation. Points to you for pointing out his range. He's incredibly talented at bringing a whole different character to the role!
Phoenix was awful in Napoleon and Joker 2. Terrible movies. Should just retire at this point.
@alcottdevalte7440L
That was Joaquin Phoenix? I didn't recognize him at all! I am going to have to watch this again, lol. After looking up the cast, I also didn't recognize Emma Stone and Austin Butler! I only noticed Pedro Pascal at first.
This is exactly how I remember the year.
like it was just one year...
This is what i’m going to make it sound like when i tell stories of ‘the lockdown’ to my children 😂
I remember eating carpet..not so much the lasers and the robots, though.
me too
I lived around normal people so after about August 2020 we were pretty much living normal lives. This movie looks dumb.
This movie is surprisingly relevant atm
bro said a movie about political division in a small town is relevant rn
Ari aster movies means nobody is safe in the end of movie
not even the audience
I'm safe if I don't attend.😁
I have no idea what to expect after beau is afraid
"Evil" always wins in Ari Aster films
@Mana-xd2tpso just like the real world then
This was my first project working rigging. I got to help build all the lighting setups for this movie and i can tell you easily. I cant wait for this to drop
Good luck
Congratulations on the job. Lighting films has become a major issue in filmmaking because no one is getting into that craft. That generation of folks are dying off. No one wants to know how they create it. I hope you get more jobs rigging, and learning. 👍🔥
Im so proud you got to work on an Ari Aster. with the coolest cast ever. Congratulations.
That is so cool! Can you talk more about the stuff you did? I’ve never pursued film making but I’ve always been so amazed by how people can make it look so good and just how much work goes into it.
Did you ever get to interact with Joaquin Phoenix? He’s my favorite actor ever since I saw Joker haha
Can you tell us what it was like? Any interesting rigging situations you had to solve?
to whoever directed/edited this trailer. You have my respect.
bunch of people making bottom-shelf pedro pascal jokes and nobody mentioning this! trailer composition, being that it's an ad first and foremost, is totally different from film editing, and this guy NAILED it!!
This and the trailer for One Battle After Another are probably the only good new movie trailers I've seen so far this year. It's a lost art for sure.
True you have just enough of the story but towards the end it slowly dissolves and it leaves you wondering what the climax will look like.
absolutely. In an age with trailers that show too much of the movie, I feel like it barely gave anything away and still made me really curious about it.
Yeah,it’s awesome!
So wild to see Truth or Consequences as the backdrop to a movie. Love that New Mexico is finally going to have a chance to shine on the big screen with an awesome movie concept
Funny thing, people were saying the exact same thing in 1997.
Love T or C
@escdelesp home of drunks, druggies and the Toy Box Killer, along with other murders
What do you mean by finally. Tons of movies are fillmed in NM. At the ABQ airport there is this interactive TV that lets you see all the movies made there. Theres like 100.
@XDWX Tons of movies have filmed scenes in New Mexico but this is the first feature film in recent memory to be conceptualized and set in New Mexico. Breaking Bad was the last example but that was a TV Series. Eddington interweaves the culture, landscape & mystique of NM.
I made a home movie last night and Pedro Pascal was in it
😂😂
If you film it, he will star in it....
@Stormlander-1111 …is that so?
*orders camera* 👀
Hahaha 😂
@Stormlander-1111He’s said before that Nicholas Cage is his biggest industry role model, so it’s not really surprising that he follows the same “take any check” strategy. Ironically, I think he’s actually better at it than Cage is.
This movie was very criticized during Cannes Festival. But, I need to see Phoenix shooting a machine gun like a maniac.
Criticism by Cannes usually means it's quality.
@fiarandompenaltygeneratorm5044This is Cannes, not the Oscars. They know their stuff about cinema and handle it with precision and passion every time. Beau is Afraid was already catastrophic.
@gatien49
Beau is Afraid was a masterpiece btw
@gatien49 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Never forget Pulp Fiction was booed at Cannes.
1:55 Glad to see Ari Aster pay tribute to the Miracle on the Mojave
what's that?
huh?
@spaghettibolognese5838 you should look into Captain Nathan Fielder & his stunning 737 landing he pulled off
can’t believe they don’t know about the miracle of the mojave
Nathan fielder lol@spaghettibolognese5838
turns out, ari cooked a little too hard with this one.
like 5 star high-end restaurant where only billionaires dine levels of cooking
Pedro Pascal going on a generational run
Dude deserves it
So tired of him in almost everything. Pedro Pascal fatigue is real. Just because he fills in the check boxes.
@jjman533 Preferred over Ryan Reynolds or Chris Evans
For people saying Pedro has been in too many movies recently, remember that he’s worked for over 30 years in Hollywood and was relatively unknown. After so much hard work, he finally got his moment. Let the man blossom!
Correction he is in too many franchise movies
Nobody complained about Robert DiNero, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Nicholas Cage, Bruce Willis and George Clooney when they were pushing out a bunch of movies lol
@JoshNM24facts
Social media wasn't really a thing back when those men were really active in filmaking. @JoshNM24
Thank you, people are crazy. Still love this guy...
As a New Mexico resident and an Ari aster fanatic, I cannot wait
That was a different movie for sure. All and nobody guilty at the same time. But when Phoenix walked out of the gun store in the middle of the night with a machine gun I couldn't stop laughing. Great movie.
Just like John J Rambo 😎
pascal is literally everywhere
He might even be right behind you right now!
@Advent3546 he's literally using my bathroom
Yeah thank God
Man this man is literally taking a shot beside my town WTF is he doing there 😐
@k3369-1 Tell to get out I need to do a number 2
I’m here for Joaquin
Shiii I’m here for ari
Everyone is.
I'm here for Pascal because I haven't seen him much lately.
Pedro AND Joaquin in the same movie??? Just the best
The duo I never knew I needed
pedro is in every movie
I can name 20 better actors that compliment Phoenix better
I was like, Joaquin and Emma in a movie?? Yowza!
MMmmmmmm... No not really
Saw it at the Sydney film fest . Gets more ari aster the longer the movie goes. Twisted in the best way
Ari Aster is one of my favorite modern directors working right now. This seems different from his previous films. Can't wait to check this out 👍
Me too. I know I'm in the minority, but Beau is Afraid is a masterpiece, and so different from Hereditary and Midsommar (also masterpieces). I trust this guy.
@educationreformistabsolutely agree. Beau is Afraid is one of the best films of the decade so far. And his first 2 horror films are modern classics. Until he gives me a reason not to trust him snd puts out a mediocre film i think this will be another masterpiece
@educationreformist You're not alone on this. I loved Beau is Afraid as well. Dare i say it's my favorite movie of his filmography 👍
@educationreformistMidsommar is just a far lesser remake of a real masterpiece in 1973's The Wicker Man. But Hereditary is great. He hasn't been able to reach those heights since, unfortunately.
@SparkyClark19 While Midsommar and The Wicker Man have similarities, I don't think they're dealing entirely with the same subject. I read The Wicker Man as being about the naivete of modern Christians when dealing with the occult, whereas Midsommar is more about how vulnerable, wounded people are easily integrated into cults. I felt like the "fiery sacrifice" ending was Aster's way of tipping his hat to Wicker Man, though. I also think Midsommar is a fascinating Rorschach test of a film; I distrust people who see it as having a happy ending.
1:43 recruiting a Dutton i see huh.
I feel attacked...my last name is edington
The relevance of this movie today is insane.
Hollywood studios hiring anyone but Pedro pascal challenge: impossible
I feel the same way about Jamie Foxx, the rock and John Cena.
Ready to be disturbed
Its not really disturbing... there's some gore but NOTHING scary... but Its still really good !
First time Ari decided to drift away from scary movies?@DjangoJang0
@DjangoJang0how would you rank it compared to all his other movies? And is it an action/western film? When I think of Ari Aster I think of fun disturbing think pieces so I’m kinda bummed to hear that this won’t be his signature disturbing style
Its the first Ari Aster movie I've watched sooo idk@bearwboots8839
@DjangoJang0 Did you go to Cannes to see it?
2:01 - yea brother I would ask the same
Go see it you'll be saying it through the whole movie
I watched this film on mushrooms. The most bizarre 17 hrs of my life.
Are you proud?
@ClA-fh5pbyes
Hell yeah
finally a trailer! looks darker than I expected!!
Yes, not like Ari Aster's usual lighthearted comedies at all!
I have no idea what this is about, but I will be seated.
Read the script?How?
Update, I really didn’t like it.
0:26 I had to get this 4 times and I wasn't ready for any of them 😫
i never HAD to get this, i offered for the hell of it and NEVER even got my results 😂 i travelled the entire US during Covid it was actually awesome everything was cheap and i never got sick once, never got vaxxed. i only got sick 6 months to a year after settling down at home which was still during Covid and my diagnosis? walking pneumonia. 👍
That's what you get for been a 🐑.
I went on unemployment and hid like a turtle playing fortnite until I had a kid and had to start working again
@osamabinsnyder You're welcome.
You didnt have to
I’m here for Micheal Ward! 🔥 He never disappoints!
You had me at "I am recording this"
I liked 1:17 the deep internet hole and the browser with RUclips and Twitter and Walmart all x 5...
Kleber Mendonça Filho's BACURAU vibes everywhere
Pedro Pascal is everywhere. It's like the guy is running for mayor or something.
What are we some kind of A24 film ?
Yeah he's even attending your birthday, wedding and funeral
@har5814 Looks like I touched a nerve with a fanchild. Feel better, little guy.
@har5814 It's okay, Rolan. I'm sure Pedro appreciates everything you do for him.
I’m honestly just wondering how he was able to make this movie with how accurate it is
I'm really glad Pascal and Phoenix were a part of the project since their names lend a lot of weight in the industry that hates original concepts.
Can we crowdfund Pedros vacation or some shit. Dude needs to chill
This movie is going to divide people more than batman vs superman did.
Not really, there’s Pedro Pascal fatigue everywhere. It’s just one sided lol
0:49 i used to think my life was a comedy
Hearing aids dumb fk
But then I realized it's a western
Just watched it. Fucking great movie
excited and getting an uncanny valley at the same time
Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal. holy shit, Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors today
Emma Stone isn't exactly a hack either.
@JKyallI wrote that literally right before I saw her. I LOVE Emma stone, truly underrated actress
And the dude that played Kayce in Yellowstone
@saycheesealex2726 in what way is she underrated? She's won 2 Oscars
They are really underselling the highly comedic tone of this film
they always do
@Hotsauceonmy Hereditary???
@HotsauceonmyI'd say this one's over all quite similar to Beau Is Afraid in its comedic aspects. Nightmare clown world
@HotsauceonmyI’m sorry but none of this was funny. Shit had me traumatized tbh lol
@HotsauceonmyPeople describe his work as horror, but I actually think “nightmare comedy” is almost a better description.
I hope Pedro doesn't get anxiety in this one
Glad these movies are starting to happen so everyone can see how stupid we all were.
*Still are
This film made me exhausted and embittered long after it was over.
0:24 it's great to see the actress who play The Penguin's mother (Deirdre O'Connell) has another big part, she was brilliant in that show
The Penguin is excellent
a hell of a movie, emphasis on "hell"
They showing this in Utah? Never mind, I can just look out my window.
what i thought was going to be a love story between 2 men in a heavily western town, navigating the rumours and judgement.... quickly turned into not that
No, you want Strange Way of Life
@jordanloux3883 Also with Pedro Pascal lol!
@Ocarina654that’s probably why it was mentioned to begin with 😅
Thank God it's not that.
Everywhere I go.......I see Pedro's face
It's like he's running for mayor or something.
Such a great documentary
Pedro pascal is an omniversal being
Next thing you know he's gonna replace all four Beatles for the new Beatles biopic
Trailer kinda gives off a Cohen Brothers vibe .
Ethan Coen also has a new movie and trailer up (Honey Don't)
If you think it will be coen like, you might be in for a surprise.
@onzekrisis that a good thing? Because early plot details said that apparently the movie was about “a town where the citizens act bizarre and threatening during the night” and that had me excited now the plot was updated to “2 men battle for position of mayor during covid” I was like .. oh okay.
2020, the year of hell. Brought to you by A24..More please
2020 was great. My business thrived and I actually socialized more than ever. Life was great
@johnnybronco9118 fascinating story
My son was born may 2020, and I hate crowds so yeah, pretty great year. Actually I look back fondly.
now that's a trailer
1:34 "The World isn't ready"? Like seriously! The world had already been through it!
The world isn't ready for Ari Aster's interpretation of it.
fr hits all my triggers, watching in 5 years
@davidj5425 so he's going to let us know that it didn't start in a wet market, with bat frickassee?
"From Ari Aster"
Oh boy
that sounds menacing even if it's in a card along with flowers
oh boy more mid
Knowing it’s Ari Aster, I’m prepared if it’s turn out to be a new kind of horror movie
But by the look of the trailer, it will going to be more of a thriller than a horror, which is different but interesting. Maybe there some scary elements in there too.
@Dylanrobot21probably gonna be like the northman was for robert eggers. Not marketed as a horror film, isnt a horror film but had severe horror elements
I like that you can't tell if it's a parody of the pandemic or a cruel reminder
Both lol
Pascal is moving like Nicholas cage out here 😂. Rent is due!
I'll say this. No one makes movies like Aster.
This is antisemitic
Since January 2025 every month I have been watching Pedro pascal's new movie teaser or trailer 😅
Very disturbed with the dude just coughing everywhere all through the movie 🤣🤣
Joaquin Pheonix is my favorite actor and this was my favorite performance of his ever in a film. My favorite new film I've seen since Beau is Afraid (2023) which was also written/directed by Ari Aster and starred Joaquin Pheonix as the lead. There's a reason they choose to work with each other. This is brilliant film-making.
This is a perfect example of how you do a trailer. You're not getting a synopsis of the the entire movie. But it perfectly gives you a setting and a vibe that's a trailer.
this is one of the worse trailers Ive ever seen... this is absolutely not how you do anything.
@JohnMuscarella-b7pstop
lying trailer is fine 😂
@10isCool
"A sniper-accurate vision of America"
"The world isnt ready"
If you're putting that in a trailer about a made-up and wild over exaggeration of anything, then you're not good at your job....
Be better, son
@JohnMuscarella-b7pjust marketing/promotion dawg not that serious most movies exaggerate like that to get your attention and it clearly got yours
@JohnMuscarella-b7p That's what film critics are saying about it. Use your critical thinking skills.
you had me at "Ari Aster"
let's gooo
Felt like a Coen Brothers and Quentin Tarantino hybrid of a film. Wow. That was nuts! Really liked it.
Despite Pedro Pascal being everywhere, I'm not feeling worn out. He's usually the best or one of the best parts of the project and he gives a unique performance each time. He's one of my favorite modern actors now. Also, does this movie remind anyone of Far Cry 5.
Same, and he gives a different performance in every role compared to Ryan Reynolds and The Rock
Yeah Pedro is amazing. If someone has to be in everything I’m glad it’s him
@holos1345 lmaooo ur right thoo 😭
Lmao he's an annoying whiny little girl
A lil bit yeah, especially the music kinda is reminiscent of Far cry 5. Nice eye or ear i might say
Wow. A rare Pedro Pascal sighting. I haven't seen him in years.
Pedro Pascal should be in a movie in Spanish
bro HAVE the 'protestors' make their own signs.
"From Ari Aster"
Early life check undefeated
I just don't get it. Do they just refuse atheists, Muslims, and Christians from joining Hollywood? Is it just nepotism? I'm hoping we can get more diversity in the future instead of just jewish viewpoints
Pedro is LITERALLY in everything
overexposed
My man wants to get the bags while he can and be gone. I respect that.
Literally?
@rafaelaamanda7416 I think it might be LITERALLY at this point.
He wasn't in Dune part 1 and 2. So not everywhere.
Mexican standoff between my boys.
God Damn this trailer hits so much harder after seeing the film!! Woooo!! Gotta see this again someday.
I read the script and seeing those moments come to life is very very exciting! Can't wait to see this crazy fucking movie.
The script was a letdown of a satire unfortunately. Far too thin.
Now that is a trailer.
I AM SO SAT. they asked me to leave but I'm simply too SEATED
My ass and seat have fused horrifically
0:01 only because HOW THE INTEGRATE THE A24 LOGO IN THE DESERT, is a yes for me
This feels like the kind of movie you can grab a popcorn bucket for at the theater OR for reading people trying to discuss it online
It's an Ari Aster movie, so probably both.
Does this guy even got time to wipe his ass or not ................He's everywhere
At this point it's : Pedro's Cinematic Universe
And I am here for it.
Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal together! My two favourite actors as people.
Pedro Pascal going crazy with these A24 contracts
Wait until he gets contracts from Neon. Next
Why do I get the vibe that the last 20-40 min of the movie are a mix between rambo's ending and a zombie apocalypse
Early reviews have said that the third act goes absolutely bananas.
Also, Ari Aster is best known for his bonkers third acts, so I’d say it’s almost guaranteed.
Seen it, it’s not zombies. definitely not as bonkers as beau is afraid.
@DaigoroOgam looooved beau is afraid but that 3rd act was almost too crazy. Maybe this movie is where he finds his sweet spot
'vibe'. Use English so we know what you're saying
@gandalf0987 (insert meme of football player looking confused af at the camera whith question marks all around his head)
People calling this film the first Modern Western have clearly not seen No Country for Old Men. When a film is good, there's no need for ridiculous hype labels.
Yeah but to be fair No Country for Old Men was set in the year 1980
Or Hell or High Water. Thàt totally was a western
@brucegrossman3531 True!
and thought not a film, Justified the series. That's the first time I've seen something that truly is a "modern western," in that it has the things that make the old greats great but modernized (rather than shoehorned) into today, and enough of the style too (again, without pandering or artificially trying).
@mummyjohnthe books are great.
2020 period movie from Ari aster is actually insane 😭😭😭
My biggest flex is that they filmed at my house 😩
🧢🧢🧢
@xxxxxxxx9165 im soo deadass they filmed at my dads watertank
