Just stumbled upon this video and already subscribed! So sorry about your loss. I am reading Long Island Compromise right now and it’s good so far 😊 Congrats to your Mom on her new book!❤
i’m sorry for your loss sophie 🥺 all things are too small sounds goooood i’ll have to check it out!! also really curious about the podcast episode talking about beauvoir - maybe one day i’ll start chipping away at the second sex lmao. i’m hoping to get to an island this summer, i haven’t read any jennings either yet!! also waiting for my hold for all fours to come in from the library even though i wasn’t a fan of july’s short stories either!!
My condolences. Sending you all the love. New subscriber here. Glad to find someone with such an interesting and diverse stack of books. Quite refreshing.
sorry to hear about everything going on as of recent for you -- definitely can relate to the general themes. but happy to see a video from you in my feed 🫂
Congratulations to your mom!! Wowza! On the new books…I’m going to try out the Miranda July too. I’m also interested in the Long Island Compromise for the font alone on the cover. I love it. 🥰
Je vous adresse mes sincères condoléances. Congratulations to your mother. I hope you are reading something nice. I'm currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo and up to page 805. Still some way to go.
merci ! i have to admit i’m not reading very much at all these days - my focus is uneven, but so it goes. congratulations on the very sizable dent in the dumas!
Yes to the explorations around memory at the end of Say Nothing! I was so impressed by his pivot towards the end. It was such a full book. The Material sounds interesting and so so curious what you'll think of the July! Truly can't gauge how you'll feel about it 😂
@@katsfieldnotes re say nothing: i was respectfully interested for the first sections of the book, but by the end really actually struck by the coup of putting it all together in a metatextual way!
Becca Rothfeld's book, insofar that it wallows in critical theory and cultural criticism, strangely enough reminds me of Susan Sontag's Notes On Camp, only she's taking on the theme of excess, which is interesting. You might like reading Audre Lorde's take on (black) feminism, for a different perspective. Any time I see you, I notice you do something different with your hair while retaining a lilac theme. You like a chameleon, assuming different guises. I see yah😊
yes, there’s definitely a lineage from sontag’s notes on camp and against interpretation in general in rothfeld’s book! and i have definitely enjoyed reading audrey lorde - hers has been some of my favorite feminist writing, and foundational in my reading. with beauvoir specifically, one of the strands of subsequent writing i’ve enjoyed is black feminist philosophy reactions and responses to her magnum opus
My name is Salustiano Berrios. I enjoy your RUclips channel. Was wondering if you would be interested in checking out a sci-fi thriller I published. About a man coming to terms with his autistic son. Fast paced, weekend read. Will leave your jaw on the floor.
good for you, braving it out. Thank you for your company.
thank you! it was good to chat to my phone again in the end :)
