This was a wild idea, but it put the "fun" in funky. Never thought some scraping crackers in my ear would be all that relaxing, but it works. I hope whatever it is that's troubling you is short lived and that you can find solace in many things, not just crackers in your ears. 🩵

One of my two cats has been battling chronic kidney disease for years, and she finally hit the tipping point in that downhill battle. She cant stomach food any more and is rapidly losing weight, though she'll still drink water. She still has some quality of life though. At my old place I used to let my cats outside on the patio and I'd keep the door open with the screen door closed so I could watch them. But where I live atm, I can't leave them unattended (not a pet-friendly backyard) so I stopped taking them out. I decided to try taking her out again the other day though, watching her closely and going out past the gate and into the grass between the houses, and she loved it. Even in her very weak and sickly state, she patiently waits by the back door to come out with me in the mornings - meowing loudly if I take too long lol. We'll hang out for an hour or so, multiple times a day. I'm happy to make her last days as full of adventure and sun as I can, but I think she has less than a week now - at least before I need to make the call to have her put down. End-stage CKD isn't painful, thankfully. She's just feeling a bit nauseous and very weak. There's nothing I can do other than make her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible, but I'm relieved that she is finding joy still in going outside for now.... Anyway, sorry for the long post but thank you for listening. I'm extremely close to my pets, so it's pretty rough.
I don't mind "trauma dumping", I really don't. I know it's like considered.... bad? by some people but sometimes you just need to friggin talk to someone, and to be fair, I sort of trauma dump on you guys, surreptitiously. A lot of my friend videos are actually me giving myself advice because I just need a place to speak of my sadness. I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty, losing a pet is really hard. And that period of time when you know they are on their way before they are actually gone can be the very hardest. I love that you are giving her such a wonderful departure though, that's literally the kindest and best thing we can do for our little wards. Show them how much we love them at the end. Whenever my family has had a dog that we were afraid we were going to lose soon, my dad would cook them a steak and we'd let them sleep on the furniture with us. Take them to do their favorite things like car rides and stuff. Your kitties are so lucky to be with someone who loves them like you do, and I'm so sorry they can't just be with you forever. I hope her last days are happy and peaceful with you, Darius, and like I always wish for people that are losing someone they love: I hope the grief of losing her turns to joy at having known her soon.

My mom can attest that I frequently hear a sound, gasp and then hold the sound closer up to my ear like a weirdo. I was grabbing a handful of wheat thins a few weeks back and realized I love the sound they make when they jangle against each other and then rubbed two near my ear. XD. And there you go!
