This track in-game hits so much harder because up to that point 90% of your playtime has been just struggling to live. Also this uses the main motif of the game called "Sundown" to give it that extra sense of accomplishment for people who struggled through the game up to that point. One of the highlights of the game for sure... well, the ending too.
Rain World is a unique game. It's got a lot of the "show don't tell" style of storytelling. The game is a difficult one on top of that. The ost is quite reflective of the dire and desolate themes in game.
God this song makes me crazy. In the beginning of the game you have a very rough idea of what your goal is, but as you travel more and more you start to wonder what this game is really about. You keep stumbling into weirder and weirder areas- like a rat wandering into a nuclear reactor- until it all culminates here in the biggest "where the fuck am I" moment of all time. It's such a unique game
man this track just hits so hard in its true context. You know the scene from Doctor Strange, where the protagonist gets thrusted into this psychodelic interdimensional space as his first introduction into the world of mystic arts? That's kinda how i felt first witnessing the fragment of the game where this track plays.
many people for some reason forget that one of the reasons it feels so much more grand and important and breathtaking in the game is the fact that it can be heard even few rooms away from 5P and gradually intensifies as you approach, from a barely heard faint whisper to some looming cacophony of a working supercomputer with all of it's subsystems struggling cool itself and to catch on to a single, central most important thought that you would only recognize if you either were extremely thoughful from the very first seconds of starting the game, or if you've visited a certain area (and still were thoughtful enough as it could easily take you another dozen hours to reach 5P from there on your first playthrough)
the visuals pair EXTREMELY well with random gods, with it all being equally as chaotic and incomprehensible. It really only plays in a single room, but as you approach that room you hear the track slowly fade in. Awe-inspiring.
Without spoiling much, this song plays towards the end of one of the most unique (and frustrating) areas in the game, where the environment can be honestly incomprehensible at times, especially for your little slugcat. Your analysis from 5:34-5:48 is scarily accurate in multiple ways lol
It's both the music of an area and the background noise of an area. It's terrifying. The music has been a mixture of emotions and styles up to this point but nothing quite this... electronic. this industrial.
videogame music is uniquely composed to exist in either a near perpetual loop to set the general ambiance of a given area, or last just long enough to play over a given event
Oops I totally missed when this video first went up xD awesome rain world video!! I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said, other than Rain World is one of those games high on the list of ones I'd love to experience for the first time again. As mentioned, though it's hidden under the layers of notes and noise, it plays the main motif from "Sundown" (a motif that also plays in "Moondown", both of which I also recommend.) If you want something a bit more involved in the game itself, give "Threat - Shoreline" a listen, as it plays when you're in danger of some kind. I would give a layered version of the OST a listen (can provide a link if needed) but the full version is a good listen on it's own. The threat themes are programmed to add "layers" of instruments to the theme depending on how much active danger you're in. If you're interested in something from the Downpour DLC, give the Metropolis Threat themes a try (there's a day AND night version and both are worth listening to, and are also layered.) But yeah, you're pretty spot on about this theme conveying a very frantic energy. I won't spoil why because this plays in a pretty pivotal spot in the game. If you do stream or record it, I eagerly await it! EDIT: and yeah every person who plays Rain World that I talk to is addicted to it so I'm not at all surprised your friend is as well lmao
‘Friend was addicted to it’. Sounds like the average RW player. Honestly, Random Gods is much better in its context in game. It plays at the games biggest ‘oh shit’ moments. Conventionally Pictures of the Past is the best from the base game; though Stargazer, Moondown, White Lizard and Sundown are also bangers. Threat themes are also absolute bangers, especially Chimney Canopy and Sky Islands, but it’s hard to fully appreciate them without the in game build up. They’re layered in a way that the more dangerous stuff is trying to kill you, the more intense the song becomes as it dynamically shifts.
The game has these motifs that link parts of the game. Random Gods is part of the Sundown motif, it's the same song you hear in the menu, and some other important parts of the game.
This song plays during a part which isn't really part of the typical gameplay loop so applying outside knowledge isn't really going to help in understanding it.
Man, you NEED to play RW. It's going to be hard, but if you keep trying, it'll be SO worth it Downpour DLC also adds a ton of really good tracks (Reclaiming Entropy my beloved)
Rain World is an amazing game, you should absolutely play it. It's a steep learning curve and you'll ragequit more than a few times, but it's more than worth it. Other great songs from the game are Threat - Shoreline, Kayava, Halcon Memories, and Threat - Metropolis, alongside many others. It's by far my favourite game of all time and that you're checking out this very iconic song (for those of us who have played the game) is super cool.
you really should play Rain World, honestly, you'd enjoy it alot, and without context, this is a strange pick, but certainly a good one. you could listen to more songs, that would be amazing!

This track is an experience that requires more context. The motif and visuals make one understand the track.
His head went: ⬅️➡️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️
5:35. Funny you should describe it like that...
...although it's more like frantically trying to dodge the sun while you're adrift in space.

Out of all the RW songs to hear first, this is certainly an interesting one. Either way more peak RW content.
That's an insane pick without context not gonna lie
This is the theme of a calculator
A really big one
I stayed up late listening to music lol
Really big undersells when they are mountains lol

You really needed to listen to Sundown (title & main theme) before this for the full experience
‘Friend was addicted to it’.

How could you forget Kayava?
@ overrated
@@ashmarten2884 yeah but still good
Dude, you really REALLY need to play this game. Listening to this track when it plays is awe inspiring.
If only You knew when this track plays
the frantic repetitive nature makes so much sense when you understand that 5p must be thinking so desperately. it makes you feel bad for him 😢

Man, you NEED to play RW.
It's going to be hard, but if you keep trying, it'll be SO worth it

would be super excited to see you review Five's Song from drakengard 3
Want to recommend you to react to HalaCG songs "Become a god" and "Paradise"
For context, this song plays after traversing the inside of an enormous supercomputer, when you get to the center of it
