In my opinion, Human Nature was the best track on this album. It almost didn't make it on to the album. It was a last minute decision. I think they took a demo from something one of the members from Toto sent Quincy Jones and they went with it. It wasn't even the main thing that was meant to be sent to Quincy Jones by the member from Toto. Quincy Jones flipped over the tape to side B and liked what he heard. The track took off from there. Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones added their own touch to it and made it their own. It sounds like it doesn't even really belong on the album. It sounds futuristic with a very different synth sound. The song definitely creates a mood. It has kind of a beautiful haunting sound. I would say it was the most daring track on the album, and it worked so well. It is a very good thing they decided to include this track on the album.
To me, it's the most greatest recorded song (as in music with vocals so don't come for me) in pop music history. I think what makes it so transcendent for me is that musically and vocally it acts like liminal spaces and sort of is about them. It feels altered from reality itself and it's truly beautiful.

I once had an Uber driver in LA who in conversation claimed his album cover directly inspired the Thriller album cover two years later. After a quick google search I learned he tells everyone that.

Human Nature is a phenomenal track that not only showcases Michael's brilliant vocals, but also shares the DNA of Toto in peak form during their "Africa" phase per Steve Porcaro, that plus Quincy's magic touch = timeless classic
When this album came out all music immediately became old. For an entire year Michael Jackson was at a level of fame On the planet Earth that has not been seen since. Think of the biggest artist of the day for each of the last 20 years, add them together and you have 1% of the fame that MJ held for an entire year plus. Then came the backlash against pop music. By the time Bad came out no one admitted to owning Thriller.. unless they were the die hard fans that kept wearing their MJ t-shirts for the next 20 years. What most don't realize today is that this was the album that finally de-segregated MTV. The label had to basically threaten to pull all its music off MTV if MJ didn't get MTV airtime
Michael Jackson is truly one of the greatest singers of all time. He can do things with his voice that no other artist can do. I feel like that is often overlooked. People know he's the King of Pop and a musical genius and whatever, but he was an amazing SINGER. I wish you would review DANGEROUS. That is my all time favorite album and MJ's most underrated, even though it's one of the best sellers of all time. But when you have albums like Off The Wall and Thriller I see how that can happen. HIStory (Disc 2) was also MOSTLY amazing. There were a few songs that should have been replaced but It was as personal as MJ could get on an album and that is very compelling.
Omg my heart stopped for a little bit when i saw the title! I fucking love Michael Jackson and this is the best album in the world. Michael Jackson is easily my favourite artist. He is a legend. King of Pop. Rest in peace. We all miss you.
Ironically, "The Girl is Mine" is one of my favorite MJ songs of all time. I personally think that Mike and Paul compliment each other and battle sing over quite a chill track.
Nippy Your a dumbass and need to do your research on Michael Jackson... Michael Jackson and Prince are literally known for transcending genres you fool... MJ has mastered over 8 genres 🤦🏾♂️
B B He became way better after Thriller. BTW, Can you tell me why do you hate Heal the world and Earth song??? If you disagreed with lyrics then it's fine but Musically 2 of the most beautiful and heart touching song he has ever written.
They're so pretentious and cheesy. That superbowl performance of Heal The World my god... but I don't expect you to believe any criticism of MJ after reading your comment.
B B I don't see anything wrong with his Superbowl Performance. But anyways, I'm not gonna argue with this anymore. People have different opinions and Musical taste. BTW, Earth song is his biggest ever hit in UK
Chris Serpicø he got second degree burns he almost died from the Pepsi incident his whole face was disfigured surgery was needed for his nose urgently and that's when the nose issue started but nowone realizes the reasons he had to
Nobody AsGood I’m not bashing him. I’m bashing people who think that he wasn’t trying to appear white, because you’re out of your mind if you truly believe that. I’ve never heard the media say a single thing about this topic. My opinion comes from looking at the his face. It’s blatantly obvious that he was trying to appear “white”.
Chris Serpicø he had a disease that turned patches of his skin white he bleached to make it even. His dad made fun of his nose his whole life making him self conscious and he changed it. His hair was burned in a Pepsi commercial so he wore wigs to cover it up.
The way that you just glossed over "Human Nature", my god... That song Is so beautiful and emotional and Influential. Mike's voice on that track for god's sake Is nothing short of angelic. Mike was firmly In his vocal bag on this track. Wow. Just... wow.
10:17 I am actually pretty low-key depressed that basic common sense is at a level where planting "THIS IS A JOKE" in flashing characters is entirely necessary to protect oneself from knee-jerk reactions from people on both sides of the political spectrum, especially from those with sufficient power to deal damage to an individual's reputation by taking small clips like this entirely out of their original context, stretching it to justify their own skewed perspective of the world or simply profiting from the spectacle that ensues.
Great review. You are articulate, intelligent, accurate and fair. Your opinions are pretty much what I would have said, but since you did I don't need to.....lol. Your funny and cool and you spoke about the artistic side of music from Michael instead of all the BS. You stuck to the subject and made it clear why you liked the Thriller album. I'm a new subscriber to your RUclips channel after seeing this review.
MJ is my favorite artist, however, i do feel that Off The Wall was/is MILES better than Thriller. To be honest, though i do like it, Thriller is my least favorite of his. i also think it was a good thing he left Quincy Jones, and you began to see less and less of his production style on the Bad album anyway. Though i really like Jones' production style (and Rod Temperton's compositions), Michael's albums eventually became more cohesive storylines for me, as opposed to simply reaching for pop hits. This was pretty much spoken about more or less at the 6-minute mark, and this is why it's my least favorite. i prefer when MJ makes albums full of 'wholistic statements.' The story behind Thriller has always been fascinating to me, but ultimately, its goal was to release the greatest-selling popular album of all time. And they succeeded, to this day. Off The Wall, HIStory, Forever, Michael and Invincible are my favorites, though i like all of them. i am amazed Fantano actually mentioned Forever, Michael; that album is severely slept on. Yes, sadly it was a flop (i think it was his lowest-selling as a solo artist on Motown), but in my view this and Music And Me are far superior to the first two solo albums. i don't see the album as bland at all. You actually hear a lot of the inflections on that album that he started to become famous for as an adult. i DO concur with Fantano that Victory was an atrocious album. i think 'State Of Shock' was better with Freddie Mercury though. Though i love all the Michael-era Jacksons albums (except that one), Triumph was their shining moment. It was the only album where they composed and produced all the songs on their own. And yeah, The Wiz was PANNED when it came out, but was loved predominately by people of African descent at the time, and eventually became a cult classic loved by all sorts of people. i think MJ was perfectly cast as the Scarecrow. With Thriller, you cannot forget the 'secret weapon' to not only this album, but Quincy Jones' many other productions, and more- Mr. Bruce Swedien. Mr. Swedien (still alive) and Rudy Van Gelder (RIP) are two of the best engineers in the business. Steve Albini actually comes pretty close in terms of the recording process. Swedien is the reason those albums sound so good, as well as the Porcaro brothers, Greg Phillinganes, Jerry Hey, etc. The acusonic process is the truth. If you get to listen to the half-speed masters of Off The Wall and Thriller, i think you will enjoy them. i've listened to vinyl copies of Thriller for years, and i didn't really enjoy it until i heard the half-speed master edition. i maintain that the vibes n' strings reading of the demo version of 'The Girl Is Mine' should have been chosen, as opposed to that weak McCartney duet. 'Human Nature' and 'Lady In My Life' (two of the best tracks on the album) were essentially, pop jazz greatness, but the demo version of 'The Girl Is Mine' was the closest to jazz MJ would have ever gotten in his recording career, along with 'I Can't Help It'. Nice review. Be well...
Love all these comments and Michael is also my favorite. However as much as I love all his albums I don’t see how Thriller can be your least favorite lol. In the world of music there’s Michael Jackson and then there’s everybody else so even a “least favorite” Mj album is still worlds way from the next lol.. And all Michael fans know Michael did not want to do that victory album. Which is why he refused to play any of the songs on the tour. He did it just to help his family out
I agree that Off the Wall is better, to me, it's all in the live drum instrumentation that was the norm at the time. They're tight and concise and keep the music on track, yet hardly mentioned. Not much different than how important beats are today.
Same favorite Michael Jackson for me, on a side note that song is heavily influential seeing how many songs have sampled it in music since its release. To Nas, to Chris Brown many people have sampled that classic

I've been listening to Michael a lot lately too. Its hard to say what he did and didn't do with kids. It sounds like he wasn't as bad as the media made him out to be though. They really destroyed him, and that is sad.
Christopher Hensley
Bro, he was an angel. Why else would he have donated 500 million dollars to a wide variety of charities. Fuck the media!
Bet you're not listening to him anymore lmfao
Darius Sanchez why not?

The Lady in My Life is the grooviest shit ever made. Fav MJ song there
I've noticed that lots of people love this song. It's a gem for sure.
And those ad libs are everything!
I love Lady in My Life and Baby Be Mine the most off of Thriller. 💜💜
Soulfull
And he didnt even MENTION it
If Thriller is a 10/10, Off the Wall is 9.9/10
If thriller is 10/10, Off the Wall is 11/10
Nah off the wall is a 9. Dangerous, invincible, and Bad are all better
@@c3lestial_spAce whaaaaat???? off the wall is funk/disco/pop perfection
@@c3lestial_spAce this is a horrible take bad doesn’t fit together as well with speed demon being pretty average but Tbf it does have some of my favourite songs ever with smooth criminal and the way you make me feel but invincible is nowhere near off the wall. Invincible has songs that are too long and is too long of an album itself. Dangerous is imo his third best album with underrated songs like keep the faith and in the closet but nothing on the album compares to rock with you which imo is mj 2nd/3rd best song. Off the wall is just so pure and organic as it was made using only instruments no electronics I think, its groove is undeniable.
first kids bop album
Jonny LMAO garbage/10
Finally Micthony Jacktano. I've been waiting for this review since 1982
I've owned eight physical copies of this album.
Pop perfection.
You’re a legend bro

Hope to see Off The Wall review soon, melon.
Dude, I know this is weird but... is your avatar an Ed, Edd n Eddy screenshot or a high quality image?
Off the Wall was even better! I love that album
This vaguely sounds like a threat. 💀
yessss
Honestly Off The Wall should've been first.
Human Nature is one of the greatest ballads of all time! Too breezy for you?? Whaaaaaa?!Otherwise, this was a wonderful review. Well said, Mr. Fantano.
Thank you.
No doubt.
MJ has way better ballads that human nature
I once had an Uber driver in LA who in conversation claimed his album cover directly inspired the Thriller album cover two years later. After a quick google search I learned he tells everyone that.
His name is Alfonzo Jones if you’re interested
the best comment down here. LMAO
David Estrada it’s weird because Alfonzo came out like 6 months before Thriller did and they have the exact same cover...
LMAO
yeah, I believed him when he said he casually knew Michael back in the day. I just think its odd he holds on to it so long and plays MJ music in his car to bring it up when he can. If you listen to his work, he actually has talent.
if he disrespect the thriller album ,,,ima be heated and search for this man
Jordan A. Me too

Biggest selling album of all-time
i like the part when you said that you liked him more when he changed his skin colour from black to white.
this guy said that? way to make fun of someone's disease. he was always proud to be black - the Jacksons will always be black icons.

And y’all thought the E.A review took a while, people had to wait 36 years for Melons review of Thriller
Bro people had to wait 55 years for the abbey road review
I thought Off The Wall was a better "album" where like you said Thriller was more a collection of awesome songs.
If you put it that way, you're actually right.
unknowning unknown actually, you’re wrong.

Human Nature is a phenomenal track that not only showcases Michael's brilliant vocals, but also shares the DNA of Toto in peak form during their "Africa" phase per Steve Porcaro, that plus Quincy's magic touch = timeless classic
Really glad you showed support for this album. If you hadn't, it wouldn't have been a success. Not an obvious review at all.

Michael wasnt that versatile musically wat. Hes great but hes not genre fusing and multifocal in music.
Nippy Your a dumbass and need to do your research on Michael Jackson... Michael Jackson and Prince are literally known for transcending genres you fool... MJ has mastered over 8 genres 🤦🏾♂️
MINK exactly! MJ from a child to an adult crossed many genres

Can you please review BAD by Michael Jackson as well?
Miguel ANTILE Meh, most of his stuff after Thriller sucked. With Heal The World and Earth Song as his worst.
Miguel ANTILE
Dangerous would be better. That's his best album Musically
B B
He became way better after Thriller.
B B
I don't see anything wrong with his Superbowl Performance. But anyways, I'm not gonna argue with this anymore. People have different opinions and Musical taste. BTW, Earth song is his biggest ever hit in UK
this is objectively the best pop record of all time.
No
Yup!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Nothing musical is objective dumbass
Not even the best MJ album
This was a solid review but i dont know how i feel about you calling Michael a race traitor.
Antisjwbaby Baby Did he have a nose disease that made it change on its own too?
Chris Serpicø he got second degree burns he almost died from the Pepsi incident his whole face was disfigured surgery was needed for his nose urgently and that's when the nose issue started but nowone realizes the reasons he had to
Nobody AsGood Lol ok. And his hair? Was that from his “skin disease” or the time he got burnt, or did his hair just naturally start being “white”?
The greatest and most legendary album.
New fan here! I would love to hear a classic review of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors”.
Be well...
Really love these kinds of comments. These videos deserve more like them.
Seeing someone else who shares a passion for your favorite artist’s discography is such an amazing feeling 😁 Great comment!
always a student Off The Wall imo is his best record
*THE LADY IN MY LIFE* is one of my favorite song, Sad to say it's the Most Underrated song in Thriller Album

Same favorite Michael Jackson for me, on a side note that song is heavily influential seeing how many songs have sampled it in music since its release. To Nas, to Chris Brown many people have sampled that classic
