I think saying luffy being a dlc figure and accepting what he is is an excuse. Naruto, both regular and kid, are 35 and are loaded with accessories and Tobi comes with a dlc face. At least one effect for Luffy would’ve been good.
Yeah, Luffy could’ve used more accessories. Most of his parts were allocated towards the hat but it still feels skimmed out. Even if he DOES come with more than your standard Goku. I don’t mind the DLC faces because the base Luffy comes with just about all the ones you really would need. He just needed some effect parts or something.
@@MiesterDX595 I’m not an expert in toy design but I think that logic should only apply to core design decisions. As far as accessory or part count, I don’t know how a different team of designers excuses a lack of accessories. Unless you’re implying the OP team is deliberately holding back accessories or the Naruto team is being reckless where they allocate their budget and parts.
Those accessories are also tiny as Naruto can use them in one hand literally. Luffy stretches so how would you put that in a pack and still keep it intro price?
I love that your talking about the line as it stands right now, especially with Law's recent release of the line, it is sadly, very inconsistent, with the high expectation it garnered, it's disappointing. They take steps forward yet takes steps back at the same time. Which sucks since One Piece is a big deal and especially since they've been striving with other lines but not this one, you doing the grind Ace, keep it up.
Im still a bit surprised you dont find kaidos shoulders as ugly as i do, i mean the gap looks really strange when you have him posed in action and it could’ve been done way better if they did something like shf broly’s shoulders. And also for the fact that the tail keeps falling off this guy and isnt really done all that well with the connection for the rear to tail.
I modified the skirt peice for zoro, so it doesn't restrict the legs, but what restricted the legs the most was his pelvis area, it makes it so you can't move the legs up only sideways, even if you tried moving the legs up they'll just pop off Due to the legs only being connected to a peg with no clip. Why not just do the ball joint thing you do with all figures. So what I did was cut the pelvis to where it's not in the way, and now you're able to move his legs more freely.
My biggest disappointment with the whole line is that the one Luffy face that should 100% have come with Luffy himself is packaged with Yamato. A character I don't dislike but I have zero attachment to, and certainly not one that I want to drop over $50 on a figure for. I know they deliberately packaged it with her/him/whatever for this reason, but it actually really annoys me. I was hoping we'd at least get it again with blue line Luffy or something, but no.
this is exactly how i feel. i don't mind zoro and the others including a silly/specific faceplate for luffy but his iconic warm smile?? really disappointing because i also don't really care about yamato either the worst of all is the hideous smile face he comes with. a haki effect would have been better than that thing
@@Sebastian_AG1792 Yep absolutely. I like the concept of dlc faces for the main character, but these should either be goofy looks, or something that ties in with the figure they're packaged with (the one with Law is perfect because it's from a moment between those two characters) but Luffy's most iconic looks should come with Luffy. And yeah, the smile he comes with is terrible. I've read someone modified the face that comes with Sanji to remove the drool and that makes a better looking smile. Not tried it myself though.
I saw a review on him on YT and someone said that a lil tiny piece of paper on the peg of the leg adds enough friction for it to not fall off when posing while also allowing it to move pretty smoothly
Thanks for sharing your rankings. Ever since I got the Zorro figure I'm been sour on the One Piece line. Just like the anime Bleach still doesn't get the love it deserves. Just got my Byuaka figure and another W for this line and swordsman figures from Bandai.
So let me ask a question with Luffy in particular. When people say Naruto comes with a slew of accessories being the rasengan and shuriken which are things he can hold in his hand, how would you make Luffy who stretches when he fights abilities fit in a package and still make it $30+ or so? Dlc faces aside.
I expect zoro and Luffy being the vegeta and goku of this line so i expect more versions down the line so hopefully they figure it out. That being said its a terrible message to send imo the whole selling point to "imports" is that you don't need to buy 12 for them to nail it like legend's or whatever.
Do you think it’d be a better idea to wait for Romance Dawn Zoro? I’m hesitant of buying the one in the video bc all I see are videos of him exploding apart
I love that you made this video and great opinions. However, I think the biggest misconception about Tamashii is that these figures aren’t action figures. They are not meant to be played with. Just posed. They’re more like puzzles
I don’t think anyone really “plays” with these figures. I think “play” refers to just taking one of these guys off the shelf and being able to move it around without fear of it breaking.
@@fbijeffrey6547 I think that’s a totally fair thing to ask. Especially from figures as expensive as these. They just gotta feel good to hold and not be miserable to pose like Zoro. There’s a degree of durability I think is fair to expect.
@@jonathandelgado3755 I agree. Take marvel legends for example. Those are action figures. You can drop them and they’re still good. I would die if I dropped one of my sh figuarts

This line has just been a sad mess for me so far overall. Only Yamato and Kaido are the ones I've enjoyed. I've really hope 5th gear Luffy can be a game changer like Yamato was. I am intrigued by the East Blue Luffy and Nami. Still between the anime and live action ones. The live action One piece figuarts are just so much better to me
With luffy, I'm more disappointed with no haki arms. Yes Gum Gum stretching arms would be cool. But I want haki armes. 😤 I also don't understand why they're doing soft goods with some figures and doing plastic goods for others. Naruto Sage mode, Itachi Uchiha and kid Gohan ssj get soft goods. But no One piece figures get it. 🤨😮💨
Law is nearly 90 bucks with taxes and we don’t get kroom, extended sword for kroom, room woosh effect nor gammaknife? 🤦♂️ Zoro should’ve been 35 bucks for having no enma effect accessories and the list of horrible problems Luffy’s shoulder articulation design is the worst I have ever seen in my life! Not only does it look ugly but I broke mine just by articulating it due to cheap plastic barely supporting the hinge 🤦♂️ Kaido had the potential to be the best but his hands can’t hold the weight of the club nor it stays on the peg. The cape is just too damn heavy and terrible. His shoulders are also just horrible looking but functional Kid is great but again the cape and no effect parts for his metal arm. Nearly 100 bucks and we barely get anything with kid. His shoulder design is absolutely horrible as well Sanji has by far the worst shoulders due to the fact it’s barely functional at all. I know he used his legs most of the time but come on, give us normal shoulders like you did with the dragon ball/naruto line 🤦♂️. Also no ifrit jambe effect piece? Gear 5 luff is a great concept but bad execution. He should’ve came with regular articulated arms and legs because the bendy wire articulation is abysmal Yamato is honestly the best one out of the bunch despite the skirt being janky. Like idk what’s going on with the shoulder design and articulation but man they are horrible on these figures
I don’t think he ever really moves it much during his fight with Luffy. For the most part, I thought it was always pretty static, which is why they went with the design. That’s just my guess of course
