I remember now why I thought I had a Kuromaku but couldn't find it.. Because it's one I loaned out and never got back due to being broken. Thought I was going mad.... maybe my brain is bad guys? 🤷♂ Thoughts and opinions? Tell me what you want to see me make a video on coming up. I have many ideas, but I will gladly add new things!
The Kuromaku are really solid stones, you can't go wrong with them if that is what you end up purchasing. I have several and have always had amazing results. Enjoy!
I figured there would be some good interest in this one for sure! Usually I do knives and some various synthetic or diamond stone giveaways, but I wanted to give back to ya'll for continually tuning in, so good luck!
@@DroneShotFPV I do enjoy the content, and also learn from it, I started to sharpen knives just last year, and turns out I love it so much… the best part is now I make some extra cash on the side.. money that I never see because I keep buying whetstones.. what’s your IG?
@ I remember when I first learned to sharpen. I never EVER in my life thought (before doing it) I would love it so much. It's legit one of the ways I relax after work or the weekends. It's crazy, because this isn't something I ever thought I would literally enjoy like I do. lol I am glad you enjoy watching, I try to do and explain whatever I am doing best as possible, with some light humor, and most of all I want to give to the community. I figured if ya'll are watching, you have to at least like doing it a bit, or maybe some want to get in it but haven't. 🙂 My channels are all the same, DroneShotFPV everywhere. I hadn't uploaded to IG in a LONG time, but planned to start here soon. I will probably start some this weekend with some stone pictures and a few knives.
I'm needing a 2k grit stone. I'm probably gonna go with a king. Or I've been wanting to check out the altstone. I'm sure either one I'll be happy with.
I love my King stones, but the 3k ALTSTONE is a great one to choose! The King has the HYPER series if that is the direction you go, but price for performance the ALTSTONE would be the one in that regard. Price and amazing performance.
@DroneShotFPV you get the best of both worlds with Shapton Rockstar, they're basically ShaptonGlass without glass backing. My recommendations are 500 and 2000 or 500 and 4000.
@rickwhitson2804 you'll be content with em. There are wayyyyyy too many recommendations. Soft steels are finished best on 500, make sure you deburr lightly to rid of burrs, they tend to be stubborn. High hardness steel stainless and carbon;, best combo 500 (good for bevel setting) and finish on 2000( you can start at 2000 if the edge does not need a bevel reset) or a 4000 (good finisher, becareful not to overpolish). Of course, deburr lightly to get rid of burr, you'll have the edge you want. This is coming from experience who gone down to rabbit hole, haha. I have too many stones, and I preferred Shapton Glass/Rockstar due to their nice hardness, giving the crispier edge. Sure, I can do Naniwa Pro 800/3000, and yet I still like the results I get from Shapton Glass/ RS. Apologies to FPV. I hope it's okay to state my opinion. I love King stones when it comes to polishing during thinning sessions, especially KING800. It gives me that faux kasumi before jumping to the next polishing stone. The feedback is amazing. I just get crispier edge from Shapton Glass/ Rockstar. On the side note, if you have KING6000, do you ever get the smell from flattening the KING6000? BLEHHHHHH 😆
So the Amakusa is believed to be a range of between 800 and 1200. Some say as low as 600 all the way to 1500. Being a natural stone of course it isn't a "consistent" grit, but more of a hardness rating, which this one is a hardness level of 2.5 (out of 5) according to where I bought it.
If the Debado shows up like it's supposed to, it will be ALTSTONE 1000, Suehiro Cerax 1000, and Deabado 1000 first. I may switch to a different matchup if the Debado doesn't arrive on time, which might be the King Deluxe 300 vs the ALTSTONE 300 vs. the Kuromaku 320!
Funny you said you have every Shapton Korumaku except the 2K. The 120 and the 2K are my most used Shapton. I am in Canada, am I eligible for the givaway?
Yes, you are eligible! Yeah, I have all the Kuromaku, but missing the 2k. I remembered why I thought I had it, but couldn't find it. It's because I loaned it out quite some time ago, and it got broken and never replaced. It happened so long ago I had forgot about it. At the time I didn't really feel like I needed to replace it, and just pocketed what he paid me. lol I even let him keep the broken pieces. This thing is basically the same thing, just on some wood, so it's fine by me! haha I love my 120 for repair work, and man can it set a bevel.... FAST!
Hi Tom. Unfortunately due to my being tech illiterate, I have failed to find your email address. It was a pleasant surprise to hear that I have won your recent giveaway. However, due to the fact that home is in the UK, (Wales to be more precise) I cannot expect you to fund the postage. So please spin the wheel again & give someone else a chance. Apologies for contacting you by this method. Keep up the good work. Is knife straightening one of your skills? If so is that something you could cover in the future.
I do indeed do some straightening! I tell ya what, do you have a PayPal or anything of that nature? (CashApp, etc?) If so, just reply here letting me know and I will get you my contact details and we will work something out!

Your Stone Collection would be a good Video Tom. With your Thoughts on each stone.👍
Nice no load up. Also fast cutter awesome.
That could be a good video, I have so many that I would probably have to break it up into a couple videos. lol
Thanks for showing us a comparison vs. the Kuromaku. Picked one up recently and I really like it 👍.

That was very interesting info on the DMD products.😮
Thanks for the update in the 120#
The DMD info is definitely interesting. A lot of people hate on them because of those Resin Diamond plates, but that isn't even always DMD!
Love the 2k shapton pro because it acts like a soaking stone with the amount of slurry it creates which adds to its ability to cut.
It's definitely a great stone. Cuts fast, feels great with great feedback for sure!
It’ll be nice to have that natural stone!! Cheers mate! From NYC

@SkeleknightsGaming I've been wanting to get some of those. Be a nice addition to my pile of stones. I'm sure you understand. Lol

@SkeleknightsGaming lmao. I do have the king 6000. 😆
What grit is your Japanese nat in the giveaway. Any idea?

That stone put a nice edge. Looking forward to the whetstone matchups. Which stones will be up first?
