I'm a big fan of Ibanez and think that an S style body would be more up your alley. Very round and mahogany body. Check it out! You don't have nearly enough Ibanez guitars! But seriously, keep rockin'. God bless you.
I agree with you, its really hard to find one in this condition, I have one just like this but its been totally trashed and modded... but.. i still love it!!!, I'm going to put some videos pretty soon.
That neck is original to the guitar ( IMO ). It is a 1987 Roadstar RG140 made in Korea. I have 2 of them. One white and one red the same as this one. The bridges are a bit of a dog. You have to set the string tension tight and make sure the knife edge and nut is lubed frequently. They have a really good tone standard. The standard coil tapping is very handy as well for the Strat sound. I paid about $150 each for mine both in mint condition. Fantastic neck on them. No where near as thin as my Wizards but not a chunky as my Tele. Great guitar for low bucks.
I was reading comments when I heard what sounded like slide guitar....so I scroll up, and you're using the wammy bar! Nice work! I play a strat but this sounds like I could get strat tones and more.
I have the same guitar, yea its a 1987 I Replaced the two single coils with alnico 5 Fender pickups, but the stock pickups ain't bad at all. I love it !
Thanks! I liked this body...and I also like the S bodies and the old Radius ones, not so much the RG, but as you'll soon see (if you subscribe and/or watch)...I like some of those too...I just got one with a fixed bridge and a natural (basically unfinished) Mahogany body...that will probably be my next demo (mid April 2009). Ibanez is a great company...very high level of quality control...I had very few problems with them over the years and I sold a ton of them...very high marks in my book!
Hi chibibeffer, Thanks for the nice comments... I just got another MIM strat and I'll try to get to it this week...and I'll try to make it extra good (with a loop if I can)! Thanks for the sub and for watching! Howard
@5150Esquivel Good video...I just checked it out! I also just got (a few days ago) an old Roadstar II RG430 I'll do a demo of soon...thanks for watching!
@derHuckepackmann It all boils down to what feels best in your hands and sounds best to your ears...they are both made well...it depends on your mood too...if I had them both (at the same time), sometimes I would pick up the Roadstar and sometimes I would pick up the Fender...this one has 22 frets and most Mexican Fender's have 21...this one has a humbucker (so do the Fat Strats)...this one has a flatter fingerboard and bigger frets which makes bending notes easier...
I would credit a lot of it to the set-up and how I string it up (I spend a lot of time making sure everything is just right and I also take the time to stretch the strings out some). I looked at that bridge and was skeptical at first but like a lot of different Ibanez bridges, I was pleasantly surprised...it is a good idea...just not very traditional. And you don't mean THIS one do you (?)...it's long gone...
Hi! I'd like to buy this guitar.. It sounds great but I have some doubts about the bridge... In this video you used it a lot and the tuning was stable.. Did you change the originale bridge or did you simply make a good set up?
I have this guitar. First year with the new neck and transitional from japan to korean made. 1987. Does not have a humbucker tho. Very cool guitar.

is there any fiddly stuff to do getting a rg neck into it ? what wizard neck was it? will any wizard neck fit ?
I urgently need the pickguard template of this guitar, I have one of my own but the pickguard broke and I want to make a New one
7 years later, I can make you a template; I have the same rig...
is the ibanez roadstar better than a fender stratocaster made in mexico?
It's not worth all that much but that doesn't mean it isn't (or at least can't be for you) a good guitar...maybe in the $200 - $300 range...
10 years later, It's worth more than $300.00 now 😂
i have a ibanez guitar my color is back but i dont know the sereis the number is8908730
I recently got this guitar out of luck and plan on fixing it up, any idea what its value is?
