    Thanks for doing this Jack. The only conclusion i can come to after seeing your shopping is that everything there is much less expensive than here. And you are shopping in one of the most expensive places.

      Fair enough! And your are welcome,, thank you for commenting my friend. Prices are indeed cheaper here overall. My hope is to simply show real prices to those thinking about coming here. I keep expecting to find magic low prices but there is no magic. Yes though, the prices are lower in most cases. Thank you 😎😎💸

      @@JackBriskTV it's good for people to see what they are going to deal with if they go to a regular supermarket. Those prices are going to be higher but for things like meat, they often have better quality control and you can get cuts that a lot of the wet markets don't have. Just a note, when you buy butter, check the label. I think it's the salted versions that have a lot of junk in them. In fact, check the labels on everything. You'll be surprised. Take care, Jack.

    Jack, i don't know where you live in the US, but I'm in a big city in the southwest and everything you showed or purchased is at least half the price of the products here in the big city. Gas is about the same price. Now i can watch the sale items each week and do much better. This is something you don't have the ability to take advantage of in the phils. The stores don't offer all the loss leaders we have here. I routinely go between three different supermarkets every week and do fairly well by purchasing the loss leaders as much as possible, only if it's something i would normally buy. I have a scooter as well, so I'm in the stores twice each week. I know very well what my local prices are for items. I commonly have to take a pass on some items i would like to buy but they are just too expensive. Fortunately they rotate the loss leaders weekly so i can get some of those expensive items cheap if i am patient. But thanks again for taking the time. It's much appreciated.

      Good comment, For me shopping in SC and NC I find pork is cheaper, eggs are cheaper (than shown on the video) as well as some other things. ALL IN ALL,, Ph prices are lower. The cities are VERY expensive in the US. I have to learn to hack the system here. Wet markets and prices will be in an upcoming video. Main idea here was to warn the (I can live in PH for $500 a mo) crowd that its not going to happen. Welcome to the chan DrDlane!😎 👍

    • @DrDlane
      @DrDlane 3 месяца назад +1

      @@JackBriskTV yeah, the $500/mo is possible if you want to live the remote jungle life with NO amenities of any kind. Besides that, not going to happen. I live in AZ. I was just at the supermarket today discussing the price increases with one of the employees. I purchased a Coke, from Mexico, so it has can sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. It was $2.39 for a standard 16oz bottle. Only 18 months ago it was a dollar. That's more than 100% inflation. I picked up a load leader and got 5 lbs of russet potatoes for $1.47. the normal price is between $4-5. I have to make sure where I can. You probably can't get that deal anywhere in the Philippines. Thanks for reading my diatribes, Jack. Take care.

  • @DrDlane
    @DrDlane 3 месяца назад +3

    Just bought oil the other day, $3.99 for the same size bottle. Eggs also, $4.58 for 18 pieces. That's more than double what you are showing there. I tried to buy some white fish. $23/lb frozen. That's $50.60 per kilo for perspective. The prices in the phils are much much lower than here in America.

    • @JackBriskTV
      @JackBriskTV  3 месяца назад +1

      Good stuff, true but it depends right. So city market vrs rural. Type of fish, cut of meat and so on. I can get eggs in the US for the same as here. My pork prices are a little lower also. Cookware, like a rice cooker is more expensive here. A fan is more expensive here (so far). Probably due to there lack of manufacturing. Not sure why. But in balance,, life is cheaper here! Thank you for the comment :) 💸 💸

    • @DrDlane
      @DrDlane 3 месяца назад +1

      @@JackBriskTV a lot of things are definitely more expensive there then here. Mostly electronics or other household appliances. As you said, it just depends what you are buying and where. If you are in a relatively large city, you can often go to the distributor of beer, soda, bottles water, etc. And but several cases of what your favorites are and they will give you a good price and deliver also. You have to find them in your city and go negotiate with them. I'm good at finding the best food deals so for me food is much less expensive when I'm in the phils. Take care, Jack.

    Obviously if you are getting US brands it would be more expensive because of the cost to import them. I'm here in California and I just came from the Filipino grocery. A snack worth 20 pesos is sold for ,60 pesos here in LA. If you want to save money by local goods. It's been a basic law of economy since medieval times

    • @JackBriskTV
      @JackBriskTV  3 месяца назад +2

      No doubt living here is cheaper especially if you life in a city in the US. All ways round, its cheaper here. However things are more expensive than I was led to believe before I came. Hotels and in many cases housing is a great deal. Good comment bang,,, I will do wet market videos in the future.

  • @artz8929
    @artz8929 3 месяца назад +2

    There is some truth to your statements but mostly for imported goods as some comments made here already. Yes, if you buy the local brands, they will be much cheaper. Also, if you buy meat, fish, veggies and fruits, etc. at the town or local market ( ‘palenke ‘ or Mercado ‘ ), these items are much cheaper. If you buy in air conditioned malls or posh department stores, the goods are going to be more expensive.

    • @JackBriskTV
      @JackBriskTV  3 месяца назад

      ‘palenke ‘ or Mercado ‘ is that in Palawan? I will look these up. Agreed, local outlets offer a better deal. The philippines is still more expensive than I gathered from watching videos online. Some things are indeed more expensive. All in all the PH is a great place to live and prices are cheaper than back home. Thanks for the comment Artz,, WELCOME! 😀 👍

    I like to go in the grocery stores so I can pay with my 🇺🇸 credit card here in the 🇵🇭. All that for $60 is very cheap. Would’ve probably cost you at least over $100 🇺🇸. Back in 2015 grocery shopping in Seattle every week cost me around $50-60 🇺🇸. So living here is way cheaper.

    • @JackBriskTV

      It is indeed cheaper here. Some things are not. In my home state (3 mo agoa) pork in the supermarket is running just under $2 per lb. In the video is shows for about $2.20 per lb. Really, about the same. Eggs, same thing. All in all,, it is cheaper here. Good comment amallah! Welcome to the chan!👍

      Very true David,, It also depends on where you buy from, local wet market vrs major supermarkets. Most things are cheaper but some this are more expensive here. Not including imported US foods. Imported stuff is expensive.

  • @DrDlane
    @DrDlane 3 месяца назад +3

    Dude, imported products are always expensive. I just looked up a product that can be purchased in the phils for 5 pesos. Here it's $15. You need to look at the cost of domestic products, not imported products. If you want to buy just the Western products, stay home. They will always be cheaper as domestic products rather than imported products. That's basic economics. Same goes for the meats. Buying in the fancy supermarket will always be much more then just buying the same as the locals.

    • @JackBriskTV
      @JackBriskTV  3 месяца назад +2

      Yea,, buying name imported goods (from the US) is expensive here in the PH. I look to buy local. Like in that video you see JIFF peanut butter vrs the other brand I showed you. Huge dif in price. Still more than Walmart off label brand. You just have to be a wise shopper. If you want to live on our western foods we need to expect to pay more. I like local foods. 👍

      @DrDlane 3 месяца назад +2

      @@JackBriskTV I get those store brand PB, the small jars for only a dollar when they have them on sale as a loss leader every so often. It's good that you are showing guys what they will pay for their favorite American foods. They forget that when they get to the Phils all the American food is now expensive imported food. Take care, Jack.
