I worked in the Team Disney bldg for 2 years (2007, 2008) as a Computer Prgmr, most ppl that work there are software engineers, programmers, Corp dept managers, etc. I recall one of the large conference rooms had an old blueprint (from the 70s) of proposed expanded monorail lines (that were never done). I found alot more very cool hidden places to drive to (the warehouses, character and ride manufacturing buildings backstage behind Space Mountain, you CAN drivecthere). It was a great place to work!
I worked at the Team Disney Building for about 6 years, starting just as the building opened in 90 or 91. It's The WDW headquarters with mostly corporate offices, meeting rooms, an employee cafeteria, credit union and a fitness center. Also, in the middle is the world's largest indoor sundial. You can walk around inside the sundial and there's a walkway extending through part of it up at the 3rd floor, if I remember correctly. My department, Revenue Control, used to be the only office there working weekends and so we had the whole place to ourselves and some of us would wander around all 4 floors, checking out the many, open-offices. It was cool to check out Imagineering and see the large prints and models of future Disney projects. Great memories. Thanks for featuring this building. You should check out the other side, where there's a walkway going around a large pond, which comes up to the edge of the building on parts of it.
Love stuff like this, my gf and I go to Disney almost every weekend, and when you go that much it’s much more than the theme parks we enjoy Love exploring everywhere on property thanks for bringing us Micah!
The WDW Casting Center was designed by architect Robert A. M. Stern, who also designed the Yacht & Beach Club, the Boardwalk, Disney Animation Burbank, Newport Beach Club at Disneyland Paris Resort, the Ambassadort Hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort.
The Beach Club tunnel is fun, it is actually 3 separate tunnels, the first Epcot Resorts Blvd, the public road, then a canal that circles all of Epcot and Avenue of the Stars, which is Epcot's backstage road. When you take the boat from the Epcot Resorts or walk to the International Gateway, you'd never guess you just drove or walked over all this :-)
Goodness, it's been years since I've been inside the Team Disney building. The coolest part was the circular center part, which had the "World's Largest Sundile". A stylus on top of the circular stack creates a shadow inside which points to the time. The inside looks like a Zen Garden with rocks on the floor and square platforms to walk on.
In the 90’s my mom was a cast member for the Disney stores and when we traveled down to Florida to visit WDW we would have to go in to Team Disney and get our tickets, lunch etc. my sister and I would run around in the sundial and throw rocks and it would echo like crazy! Used to be company D where we got merch and tickets.
Micah, I remember when the team Disney building opened. I always thought it looked like a nuclear power plant, but I appreciate your description of it looking like a cruise ship. I think I like that a lot better
Nice drive....... I have never been in those areas before...neat.... team disney building looked nice....pet hotel must be nice in the inside.....neat fire station.....you should have gone power line mickey...... adam goes there sometimes to start his videos....thanks for sharing..... take care.... have a great day.....thanks.....👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Michael good video as always. I was wondering if you could do some real back roads roadside oddities videos. I love to see a few. Hugs and prayers 🙏 ❤️ ❤
@worldofmicah thank you. They are some of my favorite videos you do. Loved the last one you and Adam did when you guys talked to the elderly man with the swings. I go back and watch your older one's alot. They have helped me through my cancer journey. I guess you can say I use them to help my day and stay sane. 😆 🤣 😂
The Casting Building? That's one I think the general public can enter. The details of the building, starting with its door handles and continuing inside are pure Disney and just awesome. Also, I dunno if you still can, but back in the day you could drive backstage to the monorail and steam train roundhouse, RCID Energy Plant, and the consolidated warehouse facility. Just drive past the Contemporary Hotel, curves left, going from N to W. At the 4-way stop, the roundhouse on the right will be obvious. Turn left, you'll be immediately stopped by security as that's the back entrance to the MK Tunnel system under Fantasyland. Go straight, (W) and the road will curve to the left (S) circling the MK. But, turn RIGHT (N) at the 4 way and it's a bonanza of boring backstage stuff. Note it's just as clean and well maintained as the onstage areas are. -Former WDW VIP Tour Guide & Interpreter, MK Guest Relations
Just past Bay Lake Tower and the Grand Floridian, there are signs saying "Authorized Vehicles only" but I know many use it as a shortcut . I also use it if we are staying at BLT and need to get to Reams Rd and Winter Garden Vineland Rd. Disney University, one of the Laundry facilities and lots more backstage stuff can be found there as well. If you're interested in that kind of stuff, have a look.

Is there still a Company D store inside?
@@danlilly1790 I don't know because I haven't worked there for almost 3 decades.
No, all company D locations have closed since Covid. Also the Partners location moved to the old Sun Trust building, on the other side of casting.

This was an awesome video! As a Walt Disney World lover I love all details, I never knew about the Best Friends Pet Care center.
Thank you for this! More of this, please!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I remember going to the preview center! We moved here in 1969.
Wow what an experience to watch Florida change like that. Wishing you good health
That’s incredible, tell us all the details you remember! Every little thing! History of all kinds are important to be documented!
I assumed that was the location of Ernest's drive in the movie. Good to have confirmation!
Yes
Terrific video!
Thank you

I'm surprised that you didn't go by the casting center. That's a really cool building too!

Thanks for showing us the solar mickey and the green houses and the tree farm. I am a huge fan of all those things and haven't gotten to see them.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Finally! I have always wondered what was inside Jello.
Great video, surprised you didn’t show the Mickey electrical pole
Learned something new. Thanks!
I'm glad you did!
Cool video, I drive down Western way million of times and never noticed a lot of that stuff !

It really does have that feel.
I believe it was actually designed to look like a ship.

Team Disney is the HQ building for the Disney Company in Orlando.

That team Disney building are Walt Disney World Corporate offices.
Disney sucks so bad now it’s not the same place I won’t go anymore it’s a ripoff
Well I guess that’s one less person walking around
