Story hit me in the feels bro. I played by myself on this crappy outside court in the 9th grade. Everyday rain, sun, snow whatever. Everyday without fail. This old brother would stop by sometimes and shoot around with me and tell me to keep hustling. After like 6 months in the summer I was out there in the morning getting up shots. He drove up and handed me a box with the AJ 10's brand new, NEVER WORN, inside. Said "keep your head up" as I was in Pro Wings with holes in them and just walked away. Never cried so hard man. Dropped 38 in my first game in these and sat in the locker room and cried. Keep up the good work y'all.

My dad bought me these joints and they're my favorite Jordan's and my first pair when I was like 8 or 9 years old. And they'll always be special to me 😏 love you pops......R.I.P.
Man, i remember back in the day in school if you didn't show up on the first day with a brand new pair of shoes or the latest Jordans or Nikes you would be clowned on for weeks. My mom would buy me what she could afford and it wasn't much so I'd be clowned on sometimes.. fortunately as i grew older i was one of the first kids in high school with a part time job. Best part is i started to work at a little mom n pop shoe store on the weekends and from there my shoe game elevated. Cool story Chris kinda reminded me of myself 💯

I've never owned a pair of these, I was the dirty little kid who use to watch the ballers and hustlers hoop in them, while we watch through the fences at the playground, and to finally have a crack at them, mannnnnnnnnnn I'm hyped over these joints 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍, great video and thanks for the upload!!
Never was into balling or Jordans as a kid because I didn't know it was a thing but your story is that pretty much of most kids in the 90's. Like Nightwing, I wore Payless shoes myself as a kid. So I can see where you're coming from. Now as an adult I have too many shoes and not enough time to wear them. Good to know you can afford them now. Everything is temporary.
Mid 30-40s men witnessed the greatness. It was our dream to have Jordan’s. We got it from parents. Buy ourselves when we have a job. Then now we buy Jordan’s to our kids. That’s how Jordan brand thrived even as today.
Story Time is always the best time!!! I’m soooo excited for this release....I’ve been waiting since ‘96 to own a pair. I smelled a pair....and it smelled like 1996!!! 72-10 and the ring!!! 💯✊🏽🔥👐🏽❤️🤓
Ha ha !! Yeah, I remember me and my brother used to have the Super Mario and Ninja turtle slide ons like the Vans today. Which is probably where they got the idea from. Mario and Ninja turtles were the " it " thing back in those days. Ha haa !!!
Recently became a sneaker junkie and your channel is a necessity. Love it and the stories cuz they hit home for me when I couldn’t get sneakers like this living with with my folks. Keep it coming.
I learn more about Jordan’s with you than I learn over the years of having them. I appreciate everything u do in video both u and ur wife thank you so much and keep up the work thank you again 👍🏾😀
I remember Michael Jordan walking into the game in the all red uniform and red/black leg sleeve, and on his feet.....you guessed it the red and black 11 and mannnn that patent leather shining, oh my goodness I was like damn they muthafuckers clean 😂😂😂
And man, what a 180 to get back at them too! Too bad Horace ducked out few games later due to injuries, would've been sweeter! I still find it funny Horace still had the balls to play with MJ during the Space Jam Jordan Dome training sessions after he lost to Orlando the previous year!
@IAmInfinitus208 All those Bulls from the 1st 3 peat were close friends tho. Even Horace. It's mostly the guys from thr 2nd 3 peat that seem bitter. So Horace went down there to work out and play with friends. He didn't, nor did ANYONE of them expect Jordan to come back and dominate like he did. People really expected the Magic to own the East. When the Bulls started out 41-3 I'm sure they all realized Jordan is back and beating Chicago is gonna be HARD!!! But for real, the expectations for Chicago before the season was a question mark. So Horace really thought he was on the best team in the NBA. Houston lost a lot of players so their run was over. I get why Horace did it. What's really shocking is ALL those NBA stars who were friends with Mike. Van Gundy was right, Jordan used EVERY opportunity to learn their tendencies. He knew Malone held the ball out, but never stripped him til he needed it to win the 98 Finals. He was ruthless. They should have said no to ever playing outside a NBA game with him lol
Beautiful story dude. The stories are everything. Without them, a shoe is just a shoe. With a story they come alive and relate to our own stories. Cheers from France.
I love the black/red colourway! My goal is to collect the Bred colourway for the 11, 12, 13, and 14. Lucky to have gotten the Bred 11s this weekend and now all I am missing is the Flu game 12s. Still kicking myself for missing out on the 2016 release of those 12s.. but oh well! such is life!
When you tell a story it really creates a personal connection you might have with the viewer. because it might be similar to our own situations and stories. I'm glad you kept in your stories. Always been one of my reasons for watching.
My older brother used to get all the new Jordan's growing up too. The first pair I ever had was a hame down pair of fire red fives and then the metallic fives.
I loved the stories because we're the same in age and similar in 90s culture/sneaker/basketball knowledge. I'm basically your twin brother you never knew of. I grew up calling them the "Playoffs 11s". These are my holy grails from my childhood. Must need. I have the Concords but I need these!
Man i love sneaker origin stories. I was born Jan 1990. It started with Free Willy. Iwill never forget the firrst time they showed jesse his room and you see the blakc Nike Air sabre flights on the bed, That iconic Nike Air embroidered in white on the black Nubuck heel. OMG man i felt like if i got those shoes i could do what he did and then some. So i was already infatuated with sneakers and then Space Jam released. My whole easter following that was Space Jam themed. From that point on i was hooked. But i didnt get my first pair until the XIV's released. Saved all my christmas and birthday money. And in fifth grade i bought myself from Foot Locker the Jordan Last Shot XIV's. I was prolly 8-9. And my poor mom I was in fifth grade wearing 10.5 shoes. I used to hate shoe shopping and walking by kids foot locker and knowing i couldnt go there. Here we are and i got more shoes than i know what to do with. Little me would be proud.
I have a similar story. During my high school days was the time that people we're high on the air Force 1 (the footlocker City compared them too the hottest concert ticket) and at that point I had only had cheap Nike shoes. So, that year when my Dad made me put flyers at 100 houses for 10 cent each I knew what I was buying. So, when I walked in with a pair of all black mids that year I had a kid tell me "you're so cool".
Keep up with the storytelling, Chris! Great of your (half)bro to do that for you, and ignite the genuine sneakerhead within. 👌🏼👌🏼 I tell my wife I watch you because we share a lot of the same sentiments and nostalgia...her response? “Nerds!” 🙌🏼🙌🏼
That’s dope, it was my friend in middle school for me dude was mad spoiled got all the Js and the ones he didn’t like or want he would give to me and tell his moms to get him something else. Appreciate the shared stories bro, really enjoy your work of you and the Misses.
Tell the stories , I guess those that appreciate them aren’t as loud as the few that don’t like them. Sorry about that , telling them it part of the reason we come to your channel for great content , the in-depth reviews, and the great interaction between you and the Mrs.
Meh, I’ll take the 2012’s over these. I can’t stand looking at the newer silhouettes of 11’s because that extra layered patent leather is so thick the outlines are white just like the 2016 Space Jams
@@mrclapz1488 These 2019 versions are definitely better that the 2012 version which i had as well. If you're complaining about the higher cut patent leather than you might as well complain about the OG, because that's how they we're made. The shape of the 2019 is better than the 2012 and more true to the shape of the OG. As far as shape and patent leather cut goes the Space Jams, Concords and Breds are all superior to their previous retros.
I had the original back in ‘96, waited in line on launch day with my brother at Footlocker. Right now I have the 2001 retro from when I worked at FootAction, and while they still “look” good, part of the out sole is peeling and the air units have popped, so now the bottom inside has collapsed. So tempted to StockX it GOAT these!
I Just received these in the mail today. I bought them originally in 2000-2001. They were very comfortable. When the situation came to own them again. I didn't hesitate ! Probably one of the most comfortable Jordans ever made !
Stories feed the content and makes it authentic. Plus you do you!! Good to hear fun facts and stories all the time! Thanks for that ! Dope content as always!! 😎👍
What's crazy is his story about his first pair of Jordan 11s is just like mine. I'd has Jordans before that but I got my first pair of Jordan 11s in the 7th grade that was a pretty bad year for me lost a lot of family grades slipped wasn't very popular at school . It was terrible I didn't really know much about Jordans either hut they were still really popular at that time which was 2012. My dad had just gotten them after they dropped my older brother got them for him. When I saw them I didn't know what show they were or the story behind them but they were really really nice . I asked my dad if he could get me a pair and he asked if I liked them and I said yeah and he said my brother got them for him and actually said I could have them. Jordans weren't really his thing so he gave them to me. I wire them to school the next day first thing I noticed was how incredibly comfortable they were. These were literally the most comfortable shoes I'd ever worn ever. And so I went to school the next day and wooow I literally became the most popular kid I'm my school for the day I just you not. Ever guy was like wow where did u get those or those are some nice shoes or can we be your friend. I was star struck and the girls wanted to talk to me even the ones who didn't know about sneakers . Even kids who bullied me were jealous only thing I didn't like was they tried to call them fake cause I'd never worm Jordans before didn't really have any nice clothes so that really mad me made. But I didn't care but yeah I wrong those shoes all the time and beat them the fuck up lol they were literally falling apart. I'm trying to get the 2019 pair but it's looking like I'll have to pay resell cause I missed out on tryna get them retail. Even tho I tried my best . But yea super relatable story
Finally! The Jordan 11 Bred review . I'm waiting for you to cop this since the shock drop. I hope I cop this on December 14. Much love from the Philippines.
LOVE story time, Bro!!! This is my "grail" sneaker! First and only shoe I have ever had a dream about! Had them in said dream and put them under my bed. Woke up, looked under my bunk bed and they were not there... Needless to say, I cried! That moment I decided to hit the streets to shovel any and every house in Detroit in order to buy a pair.
I got my first pair of J's (2019 Laney 5s) this year. They was sitting at the outlet and I wanted something in blue, so I bought 'em. All the while, I was freaking out b/c it was definitely the most expensive pair of shoes that I have ever owned, My parents were mad (and still aren't totally on board with it, but it's far too late now). Honestly, they're heavy and they can feel a little stiff sometimes, but the quality on my pair is pretty great (even if it has a small deformity on the midsole). And there's just something different about lacing up your Jordans and walking into your classes. Getting that pair led me to your channel and finding an appreciation for sneaker culture as a whole.
That Payless shoes story ! Ha ha !! Very relatable. Me and my brother had the Super Mario Bros and Ninja turtle slides because those two were the " it " thing in the 90's. That being said, I'm a black and red, color individual so these are good but there is no better 11 model to me then the 72-10's. The all leather upper and sparkling patent leather with the red accents and the white silky outsole is what makes them second to none. These and all the other original colors are good for the old timers, the simple color combination and the sentimental value. Good video. Respect from Los Angeles - ERRMAQ !
So I was attending Drew Freeman Middle School back in the day, realistically it was 1995-1996 and I was just starting the seventh grade. I was not up on shoes at ALL it wasn’t a “thing” to have so called nice shoes, all my shoes were regular. Up until this specific time I paid really no mind to shoes. Between the sixth and seventh grade my foot grew from me wearing a men’s size 11 to a 14. My actual foot measured a size 13.5 as it does today but stores did not carry 13.5. My dad wore an 11 and my older brother wore a 12. So naturally my parents (let me rephrase that).....my dad gave up. He was tired of buying shoes and me growing out of them so quick, so in his mind he was going the cheap route until I could buy my own. Moms on the other hand had ears to hear, she was the cool parent. If you were not giving her issues as far as grades chores, she had you. So fast track back to Drew Freeman, I knew who Michael Jordan was obviously, I was not at all hip to the culture built around his shoes up until that point. I remember watching the entire 1996 NBA Finals. I paid zero attention to the shoes. Flashback to Drew Freeman, I started seventh grade around August 1996’, so this is two months after the NBA Finals ended, one of my long time classmates VC, was playing around at the end of this hallway and I happened to see that whatever was on his feet seemed to shine or reflect light. A couple of hours go by and I’m in class with VC and I was better able to get a look at his shoes and what I saw was what ended up being the “Greatest Sneaker of All-Time” to a lot of people. At the time I didn’t know what they were, in reality I was looking at the Air Jordan XI “playoffs”. I must have been standoffish at that point because I didn’t ask him what they were or the name of the shoe. I just went home and asked my mom could we go and get me a pair. It was the beginning of the school year, she had bought me one or two pairs of Nikes for the school year, I guess she was feeling generous. She said sure remind me this weekend and we will see. Weekend rolls around I’m like a dog wagging his tail waiting for her to get up and get to the mall. So if you didn’t know the Air Jordan XI playoffs were one of the very first shoes to completely sellout! When they came out people were actually waiting for them to come out unlike previous Jordans from the past, these did not sit around. For example, even the Columbia XI’s didn’t sellout, you could find them months after they released, the Concord XI’s eventually sold out everywhere after people saw what MJ was doing on the Court in them, but kids and adults alike were sitting by waiting for the Playoff XI’s to come out and when they dropped, they were GONE. Here I am, months after they sold out in a mall (Forestville Mall - District Heights, MD), with mom lol, in footlocker trying to describe VC’s shoes to the kid working at Footlocker. Needless to say……I took my first “L” in the shoe game, the manager at the store realized I was taking about the Jordan’s from last season and promptly told mom dukes that they were gone. There may or may not have been a such thing as restocks back then, what I do know is that I called every store within about a 50 mile radius and nobody had them, moms even helped make the calls lol. She was astonished that a shoe could “sellout” but then again she knew who MJ was too, so she figured it was possible. All in all, the salespeople around the region let us know that another pair (which ended up being the XI lows) would be available. No pictures were available so I’m thinking that I will get those when they come out. Mom said you must be serious if you willing to wait for some shoes to release. Waiting for the release date to come around, I remember sitting with my God brother and telling him I was after these Jordan’s, I described them to him, now he about 9 or 10 years older than me and I die hard Jordan fan, so he knew the shoes very well, he’s like oh you talking about the “glass slipper’s”? So now I’m thinking that’s the street nickname for the shoes. For the longest time after that I was calling the shoes the glass slipper’s. Fast forward to the release date for the XI low’s, got moms to the mall early! She was actually relieved for me to stop talking about these shoes. They bring the box out the back and show me something that is not the glass slipper’s. Needless to say your man was brokenhearted, I thought they was playing a vicious game with your man. I didn’t cry in car lol, I ended up getting some Nike Air Barrage’s (OG black/white) color, another classic shoe, but not the glass slipper’s. I spent the following months leading up to my birthday (Nov 3rd.) coming to grips with not being able to get the glass slipper’s - nobody had them, back then a good way to get shoes not available in the stores was to order them through Eastbay, and Eastbay was completely sold out of them. I educated myself to what Jordan’s were during this time, I didn’t want the Concords or the Columbia’s I wanted the Black and Reds…..Period. They were GONE! Especially in a men’s size 14, I didn’t know 13.5’s were available back then. So during this education period, I found that the NBA season started in October (pre-season) basically and that the league MVP Michael Air Jordan debut’s his new sneakers every season and the Air Jordan XII would be coming out in November which further made them more obtainable because it was around my birthday and I knew the exact release date after talking to every shoe salesperson I saw. Back then most Jordan’s did not sell out. They came out in the middle of the week more oddly. You could just walk-in and pick them up anytime (except the XI’s). SO…..November 1996, Tupac was just assassinated a couple of months before (I was turned all the way down about that) but it was my time to get the new Nike Air Jordan’s and they were coming out. Rewind for a second…..remembering my dad was done with buying shoes for me, during my education period between the time I had seen the glass slipper’s on VC’s feet to November of 1996 I was basically begging for shoes, shoes became my obsession, pop got sick of me asking him, so he tells me one day, come straight home from school, when I get in I am going to take you to get some shoes. I’m thinking pop somehow got the hook up and was able to find my shoes. Once again, a dog wagging his tail. The next day (true story) I come home straight from school, pops gets home shortly there after, we head up to Forestville Mall. I think it was a Champs, but I can’t be totally sure, we walked in the mall and on the display directly outside of this shoe store there are the Columbia XI’s, as many times as I had walked through the mall I had never seen a pair of XI-mids for sale they just weren’t there. I wasn’t after the Columbia’s or the Concords, I wasn’t looking for them but at that time I would have taken any of them. I see the Columbia’s on display and the salesperson says that’s there only pair and they are size 11.5. Much too small for me, pops says too bad, follow me and proceeds to take me into a store called K-Mart. We track to the back of the store where they kept the shoes, pop is smiling, he says go ahead and pick a pair out. Mind you I have been educating myself as to what MJ and his shoes mean and all I could think about is playing line basketball in gym class and stepping in there with anything other than some jays. But I could not tell pop “no I will not accept these shoes” so he proceeded with the purchase. So I picked out a pair that I could stomach which ended up being a pair made by Spalding for Hakeem Olajuwon. Pops dropped a dub at the checkout counter and got back $7. I went home and cried to my mom about pop taking me to K-Mark for some shoes, she was laughing and sad for me at the same time. Here I was probably all of 5’6’ or 5’7’ wearing a men’s size 14, if that wasn’t bad enough, everybody knew what the “Hakeem’s” were, they knew they cost $13 plus tax. To me they almost looked plastic, like a giant pair of baby shoes. It was the worst thing ever to me, I thought pops was sabotaging my existence back then. Fast track back to the release of the XII’s, the first pair released were the white and black “taxi’s” my first ever pair of Jordan’s and my grails to this day. I scraped, cried, begged, saved and did everything I could to get every color that came out, in my mind I was not going to ever miss another Jordan release, that was my first and last pair of Hakeem’s. It was a different time, if there were 215 students in the school, only about 10-15 of them had Jordan’s. So when people would see you walking around they damn near stopped in the their tracks to see the shoes. As a 7th grader who was kind of awkward anyway, this was the very best feeling, it was the natural organic reaction to the new Jordan’s that everybody and they mama had. Some loved them, a lot of people hated them (although a lot of the hate was from not being able or willing to buy them). I can sometimes still get that old feeling today when a pair of Jay’s come out that I wasn’t able to get prior to the Taxi’s or a pair that I was able to get over 20 years ago. The nostalgia of it all, a time passed when I got to see the greatest actually play in the same pair of shoes I was wearing on my feet.
Great video man! And of course keep going with the stories, because that’s what make shoes so special. That’s why I love Jordan 6 black infrared, because was my first Jordans ever back in 91. I saved all my money to buy them and my dad couldn’t believe I paid a little bit more than $100 for them.
Finally got it! The shoe I loved! My first ever Jordan 11s that I got! Growing up in New Zealand and Australia it used to be hard to get cause they’re way more limited and they’re just more expensive that an avg sneaker. Finally got it today lined up and so happy for retail! So proud 😂😂 I tried to get space jam 11s when I finished high school in 2016 and couldn’t pretty happy this was it! Been going through my own hardship so this victory for me was big 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 VICTORY LAP TONIGHT THO! 🏁🏁🏁
it’s crazy how privaledged I was to get OG AJ UNC 1’s w my Dad as a kid...since i’ve gotten 1’s w White and Grey soles where I customed them UNC blue/white and they’re sick...
Never had 11s and these are the only ones that’ll age well(red soles). Imma have to get them. Just bought them online for $300 at StockX and I’m here for it
One of the best reviews on RUclips.. I lived in Chicago all my life now living in Florida, your story, well this story about my Bulls is to the T!!!!! 73-9 is not bad but that ring makes the difference in being THE GREATEST TEAM AND SEASON OF ALL TIMES.. My first pair was the Fire Red 3’s in 1987, got them when they first came out.. I hated the 1’s and the 2, at the time, now I love them.. Keep doing your thing bro.. God Bless the channel.
I never owed 11’s because I was always to broke but I finally copped my first 11 breds on StockX and I love the shoe sm I was so hyped to finally have 11’s in my collection

The best way to sum up that 95-96 season was after sweeping the Magic when Mike ends off with, effectively. Love it.
Your story is the reason I kept coming back and re watch this video. Sneakers are more than just shoes for ppl like us, they carry much more❤
6's, 11's and 13's will always be my favorites. Looking forward to getting some 11's with this colorway.
Beautiful story dude. The stories are everything. Without them, a shoe is just a shoe. With a story they come alive and relate to our own stories. Cheers from France.
i love your stories, man. i like hearing how other people got into the same stuff i’m into.
There was so many doubters is what made it so great. Jordan didn’t leave Any Doubt when he come back 🐐
Night Wing and Mrs Night Wing y’all are my favorite sneaker couple I absolutely love it💯⭐️😃❤️❤️
The stories are always needed on items you reviewing it makes it better 🙂
My dad pulled me out of school early one day in fifth grade and took me to get these . My first pair. I was 10 years old ❤
Tell the stories , I guess those that appreciate them aren’t as loud as the few that don’t like them. Sorry about that , telling them it part of the reason we come to your channel for great content , the in-depth reviews, and the great interaction between you and the Mrs.
I feel you on that story. My first pair of Jordan’s was the OG 9s
2019 best version bred since 1996 ...💯
Meh, I’ll take the 2012’s over these. I can’t stand looking at the newer silhouettes of 11’s because that extra layered patent leather is so thick the outlines are white just like the 2016 Space Jams
@@mrclapz1488 and you still bought them lol bruh
@@mrclapz1488 These 2019 versions are definitely better that the 2012 version which i had as well. If you're complaining about the higher cut patent leather than you might as well complain about the OG, because that's how they we're made. The shape of the 2019 is better than the 2012 and more true to the shape of the OG. As far as shape and patent leather cut goes the Space Jams, Concords and Breds are all superior to their previous retros.
You're definitely right about that homie.
Bought them in 2001? damn, took a long time to arrive! 😜
Are they comfortable for you? I think I might try half sizing up
Stories feed the content and makes it authentic.
Hey man I love tour stories keep me coming man!!!!
@@16soccerball Thanks, man, I appreciate it
Your historical and technical knowledge is fkin unbelievable man ! Love your work !
One of the best jordan channels I watch for the story lines
the best shoe reviewer period. thanks man
🙏🏼
Not gonna lie that story made me shed a tear. Giving my little bro fire kicks is always a sacred moment
Just another Jordan I want. Now ima beat my 2012’s up lol
Came back to comment again! I just bought these!!!! ❤❤❤ DEADSTOCK 🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😅
the red translucent outsole on the 2019 version looks like a swedish fish candy while the others look like a jolly rancher type.
I was born in 91.
But i like those 90s stories
Same here, nice hearing about the things we missed out on.
I just ordered mine in 2021, these are gonna be my very first pair of Jordans. I am super excited to receive them next week.
Story time is the best, with regards to those that feel differently, ‘the emptiest vessels make the loudest noise’
Same here. This was my 1st jordan back at 6th grade. Wore these to the ground and until they talk back.
That start was lowkey fire lol. You in ya bag right now. Loving it all.
Good video.
Respect from Los Angeles

Christian Fernández 100% on the 72-10’s. Quality 👌
Got mine already and I’ve been sniffing it like everyday. Brings back memories and thank you for talking about it’s history 👌.
Keep your stories coming bro. Always enjoy them.
Always love the story time!!! My first Air jordan was the OG Bred 12 and I was in love from that moment ✊🏿
Stories are the best bro. We are the same age and it brings me back.
it’s crazy how privaledged I was to get OG AJ UNC 1’s w my Dad as a kid...since i’ve gotten 1’s w White and Grey soles where I customed them UNC blue/white and they’re sick...
Never had 11s and these are the only ones that’ll age well(red soles). Imma have to get them. Just bought them online for $300 at StockX and I’m here for it
Good pair bro worth it, quick question how do they fit? I’ve got a half size up new pair that’s going for a reasonable price in resell
Lol great intro, that's why I call the Concords the Calm before the storm
I like your stories bro. This one was great, your half bro is dope!

I’m very grateful and thankful for your channel 🏆🙏🏾😃
The shoe that changed the game for ever
I still have my breds from 2001 release. I actually bought them off a kid in high school.
This was my first Jordan too..could have been a kids edition because I was on my 4th grade when I got em but I will not forget that moment..
My first pair was the 7's. I bought myself, first the grey and black, then the black red and purple.
Your brother was awesome for giving you them Js!
I had corduroys and airwalks...and some kswiss for the fancy days
Great story, makes me reminisce about my own upbringing. I begged my mom for an upgrade, and it took a while to convince but it worked.
We come for the shoes but we stay for the conversation. Keep telling your stories bro
First of all, loved the story about your half brother and how you got the AJ11. I was able to get the 2019 at the shock release and I love them.
