I was stationed in the stumps, old 29 Palms. You'd love going to Pendleton and get rained on after that duty station, raccoons and all!
@@Scotta1atgmaildotcom I did 3 CAX out in the stumps, good times, really made me appreciate Pendleton every time I came back.

I served in the Navy, Vietnam. My Son was an Infantry Marine, Iraq and Afghanistan. My Son is batshit Crazy but at least he’s American Crazy. Gotta love the Marines. Thanks for your service!
Thank you brother
Not batshit crazy😂😂
Enlisted Marine. Also Camp Pendleton. Served all overthe world and loved every minute of it. Ooh Rah, Devil dogs
oh, I served from 86-89
The twins narrowly missed dessert storm.
LOL lucky them
Damn. They missed a dessert storm? We talking cloudy with a chance of meatballs here? 🤌🏾
I narrowly missed Afghanistan
Mmm dessert
I wish I did, In MCT, I saw green trucks going in and brown trucks coming out...we knew something was up.
Dad was a sniper in the marine corps. Went to Somalia before the events of black hawk down. Then he was apart of SRT. Later he became a contractor like the people in the Benghazi incident. Now he’s a teacher in Georgia teaching people to be a contractor. He gets to yell at grown men for a living.
He earned it lol
These two would've made excellent MP's. The USMC missed a great opportunity with these guys.
How so
Straight up man. Although they do joke around a lot but they obviously get shit done in life.
MP ? More like Drill Instructor’s with jokes like in Full MetalJacket
I joined in Jun 63, $78.00 a month. Went to San Diego,MCRD lived in Quonset Huts. As you come in the front gate about 150 yards down on the left of the grinder. Was 17 . Spent 27 years in. Retired 90, DI at Parris Island 1974-77, was a grunt for 17 years. Retired Sgtmaj 1/3 HI
I scored a 67 on the ASVAB. My recruiter did everything he could short of forging my signature to get me into anything other than the Infantry. I told them either get me an infantry contract or I'll go to the Army. So he got me a 5 year infantry contract and I, in my 18 year old hard charging self, signed it and did my 5 from 08 to 13.
Where were you stationed? I served 08-12

I got an 80 on the asvab, but I don't think that translates to 80 for everyone else because I'm only going into 11th grade
I joined the Army in June 1989 and retired in February 2012. I often asked myself what had I done?? 😂 Actually, my mom made the decision for me to join! 😂 I met people who have become lifetime friends! This was the best experience of my life! God bless you guys for your service 🇺🇸
Mamasota
Thank you for yours as well Teresa. Well done Army. 🙂
The plutocracy thanks you!
As a great Sgt told us, "it smells like FAB in here". We were all like awesome it smell like laundry detergent. He shakes his head, as he is walking down the ladder well on the USS Ponce, and says " Feet, Ass, and Breath". 🤣🤣🤣
HE tried to sneak the leftover MRE in there, pulled out the field snacks and got FKD UP! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That open contract bulllshit and no one to teach me any better is exactly how I ended up as an ammo tech. I'd say you should feel bad for me but then I re-enlisted...
Lol guys I volunteered to be Army Infantryman and after 22 years I retired. YALL could've made it, with you sense of humor, you would've definitely fit into the the Infantry brotherhood lol it takes thick skins
Could've died.
no way they have personalities and brains.
Army infantry is almost as dirty and hard core as Marine Corps Pogs.. Not quite tho… Maybe your rangers
You don’t have to be able to form a proper sentence though obviously.
@@deekay1310 The men that wear the tan beret/ have no interest in the EGA...RLTW homie
Semper Fi, brothers.
Did my boot camp field training at CamPen in March of ‘89. Confirm nights are cold as sh-.
Bro that dentist story is EXACTLY why I refused to let them take out my wisdoms lmao.
The dentists in military are insane lol. They wanted to take my wisdom teeth out during a field exercise! Lol I told them no thanks. I have no interest getting my teeth pulled in a lawn chair.
Nah. I found a civilian dentist and got it done by a civilian.
I had an ex Military dentist as one of my Facial Surgeons. The guy definitely cared about his patients, but he came off as an absolute asshole. He talked to me like I was in the military. I was only 13.
@@XxTW0F4C3DxX the dentist in the field was trying to convince me to let them do the procedure. "We all practice back home in offices" lol I told him "well I will make an appointment there."
I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed in Okinawa. The dentist broke one of my teeth off. He also stood on a stool with one foot while using his other foot on my chest to remove two of my wisdom teeth. I wasn't supposed to eat anything solid for at least 24 hours. I ended up eating steak and lobster at Sam's anchor inn and then hanging down at gate 2 Street and BC Street before heading back to camp Kinser around 0400 to change over for our morning run over the sea wall. Good times. Semper Fi brothers(Hodge twins)
I was deployed to Fallujah twice...... and I would have gone a third time before I EVER get another wisdom tooth thrown out by those sadists called “Navy Dentists”!! That was the most miserable experience of my life. Civilians get put under and don’t feel a thing. Navy dentists do trial and error with Novocain 😂
I had all 4 taken out in boot camp. They went to crack and pull the first and didn’t numb it enough. Wow. That was the worst. I went to chow with the rest of the light duty recruits and I remember eating jello and my mouth was so numb I was drooling on myself but I couldn’t tell until another recruit. Then when I get back or the squad bay my drill instructor says you better not bleed on my sheets. I wake up and there was blood all over the bed. Luckily it was linen day so I quickly pulled them and threw the sheets in the pile.
Was in the marines 8 years my friends, I feel your pain
They are not lying. The Drill Instructor PUSHED me off. It was the most TERRIFYING thing I had ever experienced up until that point. Absolutely horrific. I hated Swim Week.
If you're joining the Marines...LEARN HOW TO SWIM.
Awesome video. I can relate 100%! Was supposed to be an MP and at the MEPS in Queens, NY I found out I was 9900 - Open Contract! I called my recruiter and cussed him out. I threatened to kill his ass. Told him I was gonna see him when I graduated and would whoop his ass! I never saw him again. I ended up being an 0121 Personnel Clerk. I miss the Corps. Loved every minute of it. You guys are awesome! Got me a couple t-shirts to represent!
Semper Fi. I was in 69 to 72. One guy said he was told by his recruiter that he was airwing, he went to clerk school. Most were put where we were needed. When the DI's were telling everybody what their MOS was at the end of boot camp, he calls my name and says you're a 2531. You're a grunt with a radio. Arrived at ITR (MCT) and they asked who was a 2531, you were carrying a PRC-25 radio to all the classes in the hills and dust of Pendleton at a rout step.
I didnt know yall were Marines, Semper Fi
Corps told me my personality wasnt a fit.....😂😂😂😂ya no shit
I really enjoyed your stories about the Marines. My son was in San Diego after boot camp in 1995. He was in the Navy and had to get all 4 wisdom teeth out at the same time by probably the same dentist you had😂! He called home and I felt bad for him because I remembered getting mine out. I paid for a motel room so he didn’t have to suffer in his rack. He was stationed on the USS Dixon first at San Diego and then the USS Independence Carrier in Japan. He was an MP like you both wanted to be and really liked that job. He called home from Japan and told me that they were going to the Gulf. I started to cry and gave the phone to my husband. It’s not easy being a mother of kids in the military. Anyway, your stories reminded me of that time. I am glad that you both came home safely like my son did. I thank you both for your service. 😊💕🇺🇸🇺🇸
I did OK on the ASVAB, but still requested 0311.
On a six year contract no less. LOL
But I requested 0311 because I was like, "If you're going to join the military, then DAMN IT---JOIN THE MILITARY!"
Why join the Marines if you DON'T want to do the crazy shit!?
I'm laughing at the swimming tests/lessons. I was in the British Army and one of my best mates in basic, was a black lad from Leicester (via the Caribbean). We had to do the swimming test. After I completed the test I got out of the pool and assembled with the rest of the guys. There was a commotion and all I could and see and hear, was Ched, hanging on for dear life, to the bar at the side of the pool and there was no way, in hell, he was letting go, much to the displeasure of the PTI's!!! 🤣🤣🤣
GySgt Retired, Recruiter, Dark Green, father of twins here. Enjoy your vids, funny sh%t. Your experiences are one of too many, sorry ya’ll didn’t get the experience I did. I had some great leadership from Black Marines who mentored me and later the pride of standing on the shoulders of those who went before me became a source of inspiration. As a recruiter, I made it my business to let everyone I spoke with know that I nor the Corps needs you and that your MOS is not a reason to enlist. It’s deeper than that. Y’all had a ish-bag recruiter. As far as leadership goes, you’re on point. When I was a Devil Pup, I was told if you don’t like the leadership, get promoted. It stuck with me and with each promotion I tried to make sure I didn’t become one of those MF’ers. I tell everyone, Boot Camp & Schools is the easiest part of the Corps. When you hit the fleet and you have to deal with the bureaucracy, racism, and favoritism and still be successful is when it gets hard. Do me one and counter the BS stories with some positives also, cause I know there had to be some. Semper Fi Marines.
You are awesome!!!! Thank you for your service
California in winter couldn't have been worse than Parris Island during Winter. It was BRUTAL. We were on the Rifle Range in 24 degree weather. It sucked ass.
They probably don't do it anymore, with the new soft, woke Marine Corps. They probably don't train under a certain temperature.
I graduated in January this year. Its still the same
ME too!!!! 1998-2002 MCRD San Diego…Hollywood Marine…OOORAAAAA! I got stories for days. They took all 4of my wisdom teeth in one go. I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth in my lower jaw. The 1st tooth was tuff coming out. The 2nd tooth refused to come out. The STUDENT Dentist literally put his boot next to head and yanked and pulled on my tooth till it stubbornly wiggled out. Oh My GOD it hurt so much the next day
The hodge twins are the boys 👊
Was in the Army 67-68 Nam and would love to see photos of you two in the Marines. Keep up with your show .
In the 70's we went camping on some island in the middle of Long Island. Those islands were full of fleas and rats. They would get in your tent in the middle of the night.
Marines: holy shit raccoon

Had me hollering!!! 🤣🤣🤣
You should have joined the Air Force. My son went in to do aeronautics, and that's exactly what he did. The only thing that was bad is that he and a friend from school that were supposed to stay together and they sent him somewhere else.
Never knew you were in the corps. Appreciate your service. Also appreciate that you don't flaunt it or use it as leverage. Humble of ya
real ones dont
I joined in 1990 and then retired in 2015 I was infantry my entire career. I agree there were a lot of leadership that had little man syndrome but the best advice I got was from an old crusty a** recon Marine GySgt, he told me to observe every leader I get and write down the strengths and weaknesses of them. So when I get to be their rank I can be better than them.
I was an 0311/Security Forces when I was in the Marines. I reported to my first duty station at Alameda NAS and the admin pogs were laughing at me when they saw my record book. I had scored a 92 on my Asvab, and that is like genius level in the Marines. I had a better score than all those guys in the office. Oh well. SOI was a real pain in the ass but I got to shoot just about every gun the Marines use. Got to blow up some stuff with plastic explosives too.
They say "Once a Marine always a Marine" Not me... I left that at the gate when I went skipping out waving my DD214 in the air.
Thank you, Hodge brothers for your service in the Marine Corps. Great stories!
I just retired from the guard (past E-6 and O-5) after 20 years as, primarily, military police. I did joint training with Marine MPs; very professional.
My most appreciated decoration: good conduct. I believe I succeeded as an officer because I had been enlisted and listened to outstanding non-commissioned officers and trusted officer mentors.
Unfortunately, both of you weren't able to serve as MPs. I believe you both would have worn the badge honorably and served with distinction.
Appreciate your insights, humor and channel.
At San Diego, I was stationed on Coronado Island, on the USS Nimitz.
When I was TAD to navy security forces, we did our gun qualifications at camp pendleton.
If you was at a naval hospital in San Diego, you might uv been at Balboa. When I got hurt, I got orders to Balboa.
When I got drunk two times, at Gaslamp (the bar district), they found me passed out, on some public transportation bench. One time, I woke up at Balboa. The other time, they seen my CAC card, and then took me to another naval hospital.
After our swim call, we marched back to our compartment. Our Chief RDC was like, "whoever failed your, swim qual, come to me" It was about 18 out of 88 dudes that failed the swim...Mayne, my Chief, Chief Mark Young, was like "Awe hell, only nuttin' but black boys failed the swim qual. 🤣🤣🤣
I was like 1 of 3 black guys in Div. 091, that passed the swim.
I was also sent TAD to work with the cooks, just like one of the twins...You are the "go-fer" for the cooks; "go for this, go for that."
Great memories🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nimitz? The ship that had the UFO sighting. Awesome.

You guys are great. As a fellow veteran, from the Army, I remember being in the field for three weeks in January near the DMZ in Korea. That sukd goat balls.
dude Korea, in Winter?! That is like being on another planet boss. Much respect
gets out of boot goes to the recruiter's office and it's boarded up. hilarious. betcha both these guys did just fine in the Marines
In the 70s, our local YMCA in our town had our swim instructor who would row out to the lagoon, push you in and hold the oar just beyond your reach so you would swim. He was also the drivers ed teacher in high school and yelled a lot.
Spent 8 years in the Marine Corps 2004-2012. I got a shit ton of stories, a few Swim Qual stories.
Best 1: Swim Qual MALS 36 Okinawa, JP. Had a 6'1 Black SSgt nearly drown. He panicking and splashing screaming for help. Everybody was yelling "stand up!!!" He was in the 4 ft.
The pool was no joke! I was a good swimmer, but when they tell you to jump into a pool with flack jacket and rubber rifle its intense, Tough training.
I was in USMC boot camp in November 2007. Winter boot camp made the toughest Marines.
So, true and funny on ya'll USMC experiences / I still tell people my funny stories from when I served in the USMC from the late 1980's. OH YEA !
At my USMC boot camp at the Island " P.I. " / everyone had a " private pyle " in there Platoon / plus, if you went to boot camp in San Diego, California we would call the USMC Graduates a " private pyle. " OH YEA !
I never served and first off, thank you guys for your service. I had a lot of friends join the military right before the first gulf war. Marines, army and navy. Recruiters lied to every single one of them. BIGTIME! Oneendedup a marine tank comander, not sure how that happened, acted tough, little pussy in real life. Shortman syndrome with a hispanic background. Cried like a baby when he lost the paddle to his canoe and i left with the only power boat to rescue three overturned canoes drifting down the river. Like a little child! WTF? I thought they were supposed to make em into MEN!
Not American, but Thank You For Your Service guys! You guys rock!
Thank you for your service! Because of you guys and the men and women of our armed forces, past and present, we can continue to live free! Thank you
Great stories, couldn't stop laughing. Brought back a lot of USMC memories. Hospital was balboa Naval hospital. I was there over two months
Semper fi , it’s funny how you can go back in time and laugh at your life experiences.
I was in from 89 to 93. I went in open contract and fortunately got combat engineer. The 134 on mechanical for the asvab and good reading comprehension helped.

Ahhh.... the memories!! 🤣 Hope to meet you guys in the future. Too damn funny. I was a corpsman, served from 92 to 98. Might've crossed paths at one time. In bootcamp in 92, we had a brother in our company that could not swim. I remember his last name was Ivy and he was a big dude from Georgia, I believe. He stood at the top of the tower with his hands crossed over his shoulders looking down at the water and crying hard. When he finally jumped, he sunk to the bottom just like you guys said, and he never came back up on his own. 2 Seals jumped in and had to bring him back to the surface. He was placed in a company behind us for additional time to get swimming lessons. I've always wondered if he ever got through boot camp.
The big fella at the bottom of the pool trynna qual both PFT and swim at the same damn time...DI: "NO! FOOL! THAT'S COAST GUARD!"
You guys are awesome and allot of fun. Semper Fi brothers, USMC 76 - 82. Your stories any Marine can relate to! Keep up the good work!
I enlisted in March, '67. Growing up in New Mexico, I never had much exposure to Blacks, but there were two Brothers from Watts in my platoon in Boot Camp. Man, did I ever lose my cherry! Been shot at more by Black Marines than by Vietnamese, and it took me a long time to get past that shit. I did get over it, though, and those memories cause me some discomfort. But I'll tell you what, Brothers: I have an understanding of racism from both sides, and I do my very best to educate every person with whom I come in contact. Y'all are doing a great job of that, too. I don't know where this crazy crap is going to take us, but it may come to the point again where all we have is the Marines at our sides, and there's a shitload of people got no effing idea what that's gonna mean to those who force us into that situation. That's fucked up
SEMPER FI Brothers I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for four years in 33 Area from 1975 to 1979. To me it was a great adventure having been there as my dad had been stationed there while growing up.
I am thank full I didn’t join the Marine Corps for the reason that I could never find the right recruiter. I always had this gut feeling that they were not telling things the way they’re supposed to be. I try to do it but right from the get go I somehow knew marine corps recruiters were blowing smoke. This video confirms more of that.
If you have that gut feeling you’re 100% right. They leave out a lot of things like what they need occupied as far as jobs so the idea that you choose your MOS is false and you can never change atleast not right away and without enlisting all over again that’s why I paused on going to the army I was all ready to go but they only offered 88M but I wasn’t trying to be a truck driver and drive over IED I was way too conscious, I originally wanted 25U which is a signal support specialist but of course I didn’t get it.. even tho my score was amazing according to them.. trust me the last thing I wanted was to be lied to and not be happy I would rather be out than be unhappy.
@@Last_Tryy Right 100%. I did enlist in the Army as 88M I had other great choices But then I turned down the contract at that season in my younger life reason I went Army because I finally found good recruiters who even credit me the MCJROTC that I have on paper so instead of going full active as a E1 you go in as an E2 with just a bit more pay about 400 more a month. I could never find a Marine recruiter who would take the time to do paperwork to credit me prior before going to bootcamp so I could go in as a PFC in the Marine Corps. But the past is in the past don’t like was happening in our military today on top of all the infringements that’s happening to our constitutional rights.
You 2 are so crazy you didn’t need a gun and. bullets LOL. I LOVE YOU 2
It never gets old to hear marines complain about going to palms for 2 week trainings and all the complaints. Since 29 palms was my station it’s hilarious.
I was a Parris Island Marine. But I remember seeing you kids training near 32 Area on my way to work. I was Air Defense.
I am just finding this 2 years later.
My dad was a Marine in WWII. When my brother wanted to join the military in 1986, my dad said, "Join the Army. I cried every night in Marine boot camp. My drill sargent was a sadist. Then we went to Guadalcanal, and they gave us used weapons from the Army's rejects. It was God awful. " 😂
My dad was the toughest man any of us knew. He earned 2 purple hearts, one at Guadalcanal and one at Saipan. He was a Carlson's Raider. He only left combat at Saipan because his left leg was destroyed by a machine gun. Needless to say, my brother listened to my dad and joined the 82nd lol

We learned how to swim in the Trinity Bay. My Dad would tie a rope around out waist and tell us to jump out the boat. If you sank for too long he would pull you up!! That was in the 60's. It would probably be considered child abuse now days. Lol We can all swim like crazy though! It worked!

Goddamn! That last story was the exact opposite of my experience. I signed up with an 03 contract. But it wasn’t until the day before I graduated MCT that I found out they made me an MP lmao. Funny how that works out, huh? I remember our CI calling out everyone’s names and their confirmed MOS’. Then he gets to my name and says 5811. At least I can say that I was an 11. Just the wrong kind lol
Y’all are so funny. My husband spent a little over twenty years in the military. It’s not easy for any branch if you are enlisted and not officer
