I was a postman in the capital of one of the nordic countries delivering mail and newspapers for one year, these elevators and similar ones were the best by FAR and better than more modern elevators, you are able to help the door shut by yourself saving time, not having to wait for the door to close on its own like they do in newer models.
Of course the elevator of this type has no door of its own, the door is only to the hallway again saving time.
And these elevators can be very fast, one of these "fast" elevators can do the work of 2 much slower modern elevators, i often was able to mail service an entire apartment building with, say 5+ floors before any resident needed the elevator for themselves. Elevators are so good. Every time there was a building let alone a whole residential block with 3-5 floors apartment buildings with no elevators i groaned, all the time by the way.
