litterally if you search legend of zelda on Xbox store or the playstore it shows oceanhorn
and its a really good game, it reminds me of phantom hourglass only with keyboard / controller instead of stylus
but i guess its more of a 2.5D game than a full 3D one

The first and third Harry Potter games on PS2BoxCube are also Zelda clones, but Prisoner of Azkaban has kind of a weird character gimmick with changing between Harry, Hermione, and Ron to fit the situation.
I know the problem with Darksiders. it was made by the now defunct "we make great games but nobody fuckin buys them until too late" games company, Vigil Games. also, Darksiders 2 felt a lot like Devil May Cry, especially with its gunplay
Yeah I often just called Darksiders by the title "the Legend of Shadow of the God of War May Cry 3".
The Darksiders series was a wonderful game series that I stumbled upon, and a 3rd one did get released!
Now we got this thing called Mysplaced, a game that hasn't even been released yet, but definitely has some Link's Awakening influences. I know Link's Awakening was 2D a long time ago, but it does have a 3D Remake, and Mysplaced is also 3D. You got sword, you got shield, you got puzzle, you got heart, you got chest, you got heart in chest, your usual Zelda affair. But if you need proof that they're paying homage to Link's Awakening specifically, know that it's also got an isekai storyline! The cute art style also looks a biiiiit like Link's Awakening's, only with some somewhat more intense atmospheric effects. They say it's more going for Link to the Past and Metroidvania, to which I say... isn't Zelda a bit of a top down metroidvania in itself? You gain more health and upgrades as you go along, and you probably fight dragons. And to be fair, not all Zeldalikes have a karma system... except for Link's Awakening. You all remember the shopkeeper's lightning magic, right? PLEASE give us that in Mysplaced. But what do you think is gonna be more "mysplaced?" The hype for is quality? Or the critics' preemptive judgement?
If you love A Link to the Past then you'll love 3D Dot Game Heroes. It plays just like LttP but with a tongue-in-cheek vibe to it. It knows it's a copy yet there's just a bit of humor to it that makes it great. Plus the different swords you get are just amazing.

I LOVE 3D Dot Game Heroes! It kinda plays super similar to 2D zeldas and it has a great sense of humor.
3D Dot Game Heroes is literally an intentional parody of the original The Legend Of Zelda for the NES! You can even play as 8-bit Link! Love it! It has got nothing alike with A Link to the Past, though; it's through and through Zelda 1.

More like a Zelda clone with God of War gameplay. The pacing, overworld, and the puzzle based dungeons with a boss at the end are strongly Zelda-esque. The only thing that was God of War like in Darksiders was the combat.

Actually not even the combat of Darksiders is like the combat of GOW, the combos are almost identical to the DMC combos, and the sword is much closer to Rebellion than the Chaos Blades.
However there are some similarities to GOW: the music is almost identical, the climbing movements, the way to push boxes in the puzzles(not the fact that you are pushing boxes, but the look and file of those boxes), the fact that your character is rider of War(very close to be the god of war), the name of the sword "Chaoseater", the executions with the B button with ultra-gory animations and even the animations of opening crates.
Many sonyers interpreted those things like "God of War ripoff", but I think the intention of Vigil Games was to include them as references because many of the developers of Darksiders were developers of God of War previously, it was like a tribute to their previous work.
To me it felt more like Devil May Cry but with Blizzard aesthetics. It's a little crazy how badly that game wants to look like something made by Blizzard.
It took me into near the end of Darksiders, when you fight your shadow self, for me to think "Oh, this is just Zelda." Everything else seemed like mere coincidence up until that point.

Ys series deserves some love, most underrated zelda clone. Ys VIII is basically Breath of the Wild for ps4.
My family didn't have a memory card for our GC growing up so anytime we wanted to play a game we just saw how far we could get. We had the hobbit and out parents let us have a marathon day to beat one game and we chose the hobbit. You will never hold a game controller covered in more sweat. That game visits me in my nightmares

I absolutely loved the game Sphynx and the Cursed Mummy when it came out. I played through it at least 5 times and I love that they did a re-release on the Switch so I got it again. I remember liking The Hobbit game and finishing it but I don't think I played it more than once.

As a kid who did purchase Sphinx and the cursed mummy, I can confirm that I would have most likely still bought a game about just Sphinx but I highly doubt I would have spent my money on a cursed mummy game

For zelda clones I'd recommend playing dark cloud. Zelda-esqe while being completely it's own thing. Super great game with an amazing sequel. Also look into that ps2 Neopets game, it was surprisingly good if childhood me remembers correctly. Its too bad i got banned from the website for having the username neoyiffer.
I was wondering why Dark Cloud wasn't on this list.
As much as I love Dark Cloud and its sequel Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in the US), they aren't really Zelda clones, so they shouldn't be here. Really, the only thing they lifted was the Z targeting - the dungeons have no puzzles, and you didn't get extra items (bar new weapons) along the way.
Neopets the Darkest Faerie is actually one of my fav games of all time, I’m not even kidding. The PSP Neopets game is a decent top down RPG too

Yeah, it had a cliffhanger ending and no sequel.
Fun fact: it also had a save point that, when loaded from, caused an open door to close and be un-openable, bricking your save file and rendering the game unbeatable.

Agreed on Sphinx and Darksiders. But what the hell was that Tumble voicing? Sounds like they were attempting at a Yoshi flutter jump noise, but sounds more like Mario on 50 cups of coffee.
I had the hobbit game when i was young and boy was it hard. I remeber it be really engrossing for a young lord of the rings fan though. I spent hours just explorring hobbiton because it was so cool to explore the world from the movies and books

sphynx was my shit when i was a kid. i love the idea of ancient egyptian mythology being converted to a game. The events of ancient egypt was always the most fascinating part of human history to me.

Important to remember that Atlus is not just a developer, they are also a publisher. Atlus actually had nothing to do with making Dual Hearts. The ONLY thing they did was front the money for it to be released in North America. Their name isn't even on the Japanese box (It was published by Sony in Japan). So even that "PS2 era Atlus" music and sound design have nothing to do with Atlus at all, unless it was redone for North America.

I'm curious why you didn't mention the Ys Series in either of your Zelda clone videos. The 2d Ys games are totally like a link to the past and Zelda 1 while Ys 5-8 are totally like the 3D Zeldas
I loved that Hobbit game when I was little, was one of the first games I got on the PS2. Can confirm I died a lot in it though.

Darksiders II is my favourite 3D Zelda clone. Sure it’s not all just Zelda but damn is it a solid game and I think even Zelda could learn from it. And the Deathinitive Edition has the extra dungeons/campaigns so it’s a pretty meaty game.
Sure, the last two realms are shorter and less fleshed out but their last dungeons are fantastic!

Read 3D Zelda clones and thought of Darksiders. I liked that game, even if I never finished it. I picked up the Deathfinitive edition of the second for cheap on a PSN sale. Gotta finish the first and jump on the second. Didn't think of Star Fox Adventure, until I saw your intro. That is definitely a Zelda clone but it would be too easy to put that in.

I got a PS2 from a reading program at my library. I also got that Dual Hearts game, or so I thought. It turned out to be a completely different game, for the PS1...
I saw a Zelda ad before this.
Good taste. Alundra was such a GREAT game. It had a dark and great if not a little cliche story, an amazing soundtrack, simple yet effective combat, and puzzles that were fun and intuitive if not a little frustrating at times. When I found out there was an Alundra 2 back in the day I was pretty excited to see what they would do next. Then I was met with MAJOR disappointment. The 2nd game was all goofy and had pretty meh gameplay. Maybe if they marketed it as something completely different I would have been fine, but not Alundra 2. It's like the Final Fantasy Spirits Within effect.
