    Being good for beginners doesnt make it bad for advanced users. Used tons of Linux distros so far, and yet id say Linux Mint Cinamon is actually one of my personal favourites, even if people mostly recomend it just for people coming from Windows. Its fairly lightweight, looks great, easy to navigate, needs little configuration, and does anything any other distro can do.

      It's similar to Python, being the second best option for anything. It's easy and works, but if you need something specific, there's always something that is more specialized and optimized. Linux Mint is still great, but you can't deny that there are other distros that are better for certain things, although they are harder to learn or use. If you're serious about development, investing your time into learning and setting up distros like Arch or NixOS might be worth it.

    In general:
    * Beginning: Kali
    * Intermediate: Parrot
    * Advanced: BlackArch
    The rolling release nature of anything Arch-based combined with how few keystrokes it takes to install things with Pacman as opposed to APT is why I personally use the latter, but there are cases where you want a more stable kernel, etc. and in that case the former 2 might be better.

The rhetoric was if we don't finish high school we will be criminals and drug dealers and if we don't go to college we are lazy and entitled slackers. This is especially true for people, like myself, who grew up in poverty. The ONLY way out was either college or the military if you didn't want to be "flippin burgers or pumping gas for the rest of your life" (note: this is not my belief, just what we were told).
      I was the first in my family to graduate HS the f1st time around, the 1st to go to college, was IQ tested in the 3rd grade and put in gifted classes as I was in the 99th percentile in the country. I am also the oldest child and oldest grand child. Thats a lot of pressure. Sure, no one literally held a gun to my head and moved my hands around to fill out college applications, but they might as well have. I graduated a year early, so I was 17 when I was looking at these options.
      I'll say that again. I was 17 when I was made to sign up for thousands and thousands and thousands in school loans. Fun fact, your frontal lobe - which is associated with impulse control, decision making, error detecting & pattern recognition, emotional and attention regulation, understanding language, and forming long term memories - doesn't even fully develop until around age 26. In much the same way as children cannot give consent because they are physically incapable of understanding the weight, consequences, and implications of their decision not to mention the massive power imbalance, a 17 year old shouldn't be allowed to consent to taking on $100k+ in student loan debt, especially since the same government that gave out those loans is the government that made the thing they paid for all but useless (NOT: I AM NOT SAYING SA AND STUDENT LOANS ARE COMPARABLE IN SEVERITY OR EMOTIONAL TOLL, just that the reasoning is the same in both cases). I took out loans to pay for a degree for which I was promised a good, high paying job. The government has yet to hold up its end and in fact has made it worth significantly less than it was.
      Many student loan providers, including Sallie Mae (a major provider and the one I used) have been the subject of several class action lawsuits for their well documented predatory loan practices. So not only are 17 year olds incapable of predicting economic growth, future job markets, future corporate hiring policies, inflation values, and financial stability, but the ones giving those loans have, according to some federal judges, lied, manipulated, and preyed on the teenagers they were coercing into entering a contract with.
      I suspect none of that is really going to have an impact given your reasoning for wanting everyone to suffer as much as you have, so how about this. The entire point of growth, progress, financial stability, automation, innovation, and culture is so that your children can have a better life than you did. Are you also mad that kids today don't have to breathe asbestos and eat lead paint? Does it bother you that people use to have to work so hard to write and send a letter and now people can just type out an email and send it across the world in a few seconds? People also had to sign up for the draft right out of high school, why should kids these days not have to be worried about their government forcing them to kill foreigners? You denied OP's opinion, then went on to confirm it. It boils down to "I had to work hard to pay off my loans, so why shouldn't you?"
      No one stops to think that maybe you shouldn't have had to pay them either. Your mindset is one of stagnation, of preserving the status quo and limiting any progress as a society. Its giving 'Im bitter than younger peoples lives are easier than mine was.' This kind of thinking is the antithesis of progress. You work hard now...we all work hard now... so that people in the future can have a better life. If you've already paid your loans, great. Well done. This doesn't concern you then. Its like men who get pissed when women talk about rape culture. If it doesn't apply to you then why are you so upset? I know I am being kind of cheeky here, but I genuinely don't understand this "I suffered so you have to too" mindset. I hope college for my kids is free. I hope their healthcare isn't tied to their employer and they don't have to work grueling 40, 50, 60 hour weeks just to break even and hear everyone online telling them how lazy and entitled they are. When I came out as a lesbian, my dad told me to keep trying to kill myself until I succeed. I say "keep" because this was right after I got out of a 3 month hospital stay for drinking toilet bowl cleaner at age 16. I hope my kids NEVER have to experience strangers wanting them dead for no other reason than they don't like whats in the pants of the people my kids want to f*ck. If you don't, then wtf is even the point of all of this? If we aren't working towards a better, easier world for future generations then we are just wiling away our finite time until the grave.
      I want my kids to have UBI. I want YOUR kids to have UBI, universal health care, free education, and the ability to pursue their passions. I want your kids, should you decide to have them, to have a better and more fulfilling life than either of us had. I will never understand being hurt so badly that I want everyone else to suffer like I did. If you aren't working to make your small corner of the world just a little bit better than you found it, what is the point of you? How does student loan forgiveness affect you in the slightest? If it doesn't, then why do you give a sh*t?

    Are there better ones? Yes. If i do something wrong on those better ones will i be able to fix it? Probably not, because kali has a bigger community than those. Also its made by the same company that has one of the biggest and hardest certifications in the industry, that has a 48 hour test, so i think they know at least a little bit about what they need in the distro

    While you can hack on any Debian based distro of Linux, I prefer Kali due to it’s convenience, like the fact that it has a bunch of useful software pre-installed. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what OS you use. It all comes down to personal preference and what works best for you. If you like a certain OS, then there is no reason to stop using it just because one person told you about an OS which they think is better

    I think It should be taught to people WHY is Kali linux the go to choice for hacking. They rarely answer it properly. The true reason is that it comes with all the tools and software you’d need to do that kind of work pre-installed. You can accomplish the same goals using literally any other distro. It’s like if there was a version of Windows that came pre-installed with Steam and Epic Launcher and everybody got that version recommended to them if they said they wanted to play games.

    Seriously guys, just use whatever distro you are most comfortable with, no shame in using any distro that isn't Ubuntu. I mean, if you feel particularly adventurous, you can even build you own distro to maximize the customizations if you want to go the extra mile. But if you don't, prepackaged is fine, Kali is a great option. I don't use it for my own reasons (I prefer Arch based distros over Debian based ones) but my best friend runs Kali and he doing just fine.

    From what ive read and seen, Kali is what all the professionals use. Time is money, right? So does it pay to install configure and debug some "superior" distro, when you could plug in a USB, boot it up, and let it rip as is. You think your clients appreciate that you need a few days to get black arch set up to do what Kali is ready to do immediately after booting for the first time?

    People take kali too seriously.
    As a penetration testing suit of tools its fine. Load up a live environment and you're good to go.
    Edge lords using it as a daily driver kinda ruined it. As a replacement OS for hackers its garbage.
    Personally I prefer rooted smartphones for testing security.

Can use any distribution and it's full capacity. But everyone in today's industry wants the GUI platform, and those are the ones who struggle with the functionality of using a Linux OS. you might as well just stick to windows. Lol
