They didn't make the game too complicated for me at least, its still the same fundamental game: break trees, dig a hole, mine, build a house, get diamonds, build a farm, renovate your house... You loose your sense of time and when you look you got a giant village. That is the good part of minecraft, your imagination.

You can use Resource Packs to change background music and music discs in the game. Look it up on the Minecraft Wiki-they have a really nice, in depth guide on how you can, essentially, very lightly mod your game!
