I find this version richer than the movie version. Being that he is 20 years older here adds that richness, I think. As if Jack himself is way up in years.
@TheCNRProject I feel the same way. Since I was a kid, Jack’s Lament has always had the ability to completely displace & chill me-so much of that is due to Danny’s timbre, & so much more to his vibrato. Some vibratos can have that harsh/wet “glut” to them that takes you out of the song. His is soft, fast, & still, like a hummingbird. I came here to listen to it live for once, so I could hear more of his voice. It’s so nice to see other people appreciate what Danny brought to NBC as its composer, & as Jack’s vocal performer. It makes me happy. ❤️
"And since I am dead I can take off my head and recite Shakespearean quotations. No animal nor man can SCREAM like I can, with the fury of my recitations" This is my all time favourite line.
Danny Elfman not only has a magnificent singing voice, but an incredible speaking voice as well. If he ever decided to pursue a career as a voice over artist, he'd have an incredibly strong future in that field.
I get shivers everytime he sings "and I, Jack, the pumpkin king!" And I love the line "and since I am dead, I can take off my head to recite Shakespearean quotations. No animal nor man can scream like I can with the fury of my recitations" 🖤💚
I really do hope he's proud of himself. His music, whether it be with Oingo Boingo, this, or his musical scores, has brought so much joy to so so many people 💗💗
I love the fact that the man who sung "Jack's Lament" is the same guy who wrote and sang "Little Girls" ( and for those of you too young to know its original name you may know this song as the "pedo bear" song)
i dont know about yall but i could have seen him as the phantom on Broadway. the lament song reminds me of Stranger than u dreamt it, and music of the night
My seven year old cousin absolutely hates this movie. He's scared of it, and thinks it's otherwise boring. However, my five year old cousin is absolutely obsessed with is, and he told me, "Jack is super awesome and he's a really good singer person and he can TAKE OFF HIS HEAD-"
I was there that night as well! Great show and feel it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience! Great job with the filming of it, I tried but definitely not as good as this! :o)
When he says “and I... JACK, THE PUMPKIN KING” he really lived it
I get shivers every time he says it
I feel it
Well... he is lol
When Danny Elfman dies, he'll literally become Jack. I see it.
That is, if God could let such a person of talent as him actually die.
😂😂😂
@@shealenebresnahan9509 whell stan lee and the creator of spongebob died soooo
People love his music so much that technically- he'll never die
Then he can invite us all to a dead man's party
I’ve always loved that vibrato he has. Gives that extra layer of melancholic beauty that I adore this song for.
I like pretty much all of his work.

make him the phantom of the opera in cartoon version please tim...
I wasn’t wearing my glasses so I thought you said vibrate and I questioned my knowledge of music lol
No one can do it better, and I've watched some try. He is the original and the best.
I totally agree!!!
There are few who'd deny at what he does he is the best!
Ikr??? But check out Jordan fictions version, it's pretty cool still his cover of it
he even moves like jack
I won't be able to die happy without seeing this live
*Period*
Me three
i wish they still did this but then again theres a BIGGER monster taking over the holidays
I’m going to see it live on my birthday.
I love him when he says
OhI somewhere deep inside of these bones an emptiness grows
*begins to grow
@@j.nicolosi6647 *began to grow
I forgot to put that bc- I was laggy ;-; yup
not only is his singing voice impeccable, but the way he moves his mouth to make the sounds that make the character real, is truly amazing.
*I'm not crying, you're crying*
Riiiiight
Chills for daysssss
Damn right, I'm crying.
Oh Danny your voice hasn't changed a day!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ still will always be Jack Skellington:)
Not really Jack has 2 voices Danny Elfman sings and Chris Sarandon does the speaking for the entire film so yea...
+Who ? Yea I know. I meant he will always be Jack to me.
Deadliest Chic87 Well that's kind of weird seeing how the most the movie is talking and bits of singing but ok
But what we most remember from jack's interpretation are all the songs more than the talking scenes.... At least thatsmy case *-*
+Estefani Montero thank you! Most people don't think about the guy that did the talking scenes cuz the songs are more iconic
This man's voice is so flexible and variant, it's incredible!
2:31 - wonderful communication with the conductor. Truly professional. This dude can do character voices so well.
"And since I am dead I can take off my head and recite Shakespearean quotations.
No animal nor man can SCREAM like I can, with the fury of my recitations"
This is my all time favourite line.
Mine too!
I wonder how it feels to be such a musical genius who wrote it and also have the perfect voice to sing this song. jesus christ!
When he begins, "Oh somewhere deep inside of these bones" I get goosebumps and cry every time. WE LOVE YOU DANNY!
I remember attending that performance.Danny Elfman has made some truly amazing music.
Danny Elfman not only has a magnificent singing voice, but an incredible speaking voice as well. If he ever decided to pursue a career as a voice over artist, he'd have an incredibly strong future in that field.
I am now convinced that Jack's character was entirely inspired by Danny Elfman.. absolutely amazing
I think a lot of Burton’s characters are inspired by Danny Elfman. So many of them are pasty Byronic manchildren.
his voice... I just adore it
The fact that he is giving life to Jack and the song makes me so so happy. He even kinda “move” like jack as well ❤️❤️
omg!! what a powerful voice and song!! 5 people dont understand jack's lament
3 more people don't understand...
I love his voice and performance!! He express his music not only voice but also facial expression and posture!!
He’s the only one that can do this song justice.
Oh my gosh he’s so talented and incredible. Nothing will EVER come close to beating the original, he’s just too good.
Totally nailed it, flawless execution!
Perfect. Killed it live. That's 100 hours of practice.
I AM SHOOKETH.
down to my booteths....glorious voice.
Wonder how the crying kid would react if he saw the actual movie with all the skeletons and stuff.
I get shivers everytime he sings "and I, Jack, the pumpkin king!"
And I love the line "and since I am dead, I can take off my head to recite Shakespearean quotations. No animal nor man can scream like I can with the fury of my recitations" 🖤💚
I love the respect the crowd has for him to be quiet while he sings lol
I really do hope he's proud of himself. His music, whether it be with Oingo Boingo, this, or his musical scores, has brought so much joy to so so many people 💗💗
This is amazing. He’s so expressive with his voice .

i dont know about yall but i could have seen him as the phantom on Broadway. the lament song reminds me of Stranger than u dreamt it, and music of the night
He gives off the vibe of someone who’d be pissed if you interrupted him. It’s just intimidating the facial expressions he makes
He sort of resembles Jack, with his skeleton grin
The way he sang that "Can SCREEEAM like I can!" just made me smile from ear to ear. I love this dude's singing so much.
Is there anything this guy can't do?
asolutly love nightmare before christmas, this song is my favorite
My seven year old cousin absolutely hates this movie. He's scared of it, and thinks it's otherwise boring.
However, my five year old cousin is absolutely obsessed with is, and he told me, "Jack is super awesome and he's a really good singer person and he can TAKE OFF HIS HEAD-"
Singing one of the saddest songs in the soundtrack, has a smile on his face 80% of the time. I’m jk, Danny is awesome
I love how this song isn’t meant to be perfect, just haunting🖤
His voice is so damn hot Jack Skellington was my very first crush ever

I was there that night as well! Great show and feel it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience! Great job with the filming of it, I tried but definitely not as good as this! :o)

If they ever do a live action remake of this movie, this mans needs to reprise his role as jack.
