I can keep listening to Brancy sing this aria on repeat. Not only is it a beautiful memorable aria, John Brancy carries us with him on an emotional journey. Gorgeous tone and control, wonderful changes in colour and dynamics!

Any barione singing today who can outsing Hvorostovsky on this aria is GOOD! I hope we see and hear much more of Mr. Brancy.
He doesn’t get close to “out-singing” Hvorostovsky in this particular example. Nevertheless, Brancy is one of the best new talents in a long while
Brancy is a phenomenal baritone and one of the best new talents to come along in a while. But what a deadly slow tempo! The “b” section and the lead up to the final phrase are conducted so slowly that they remove all the urgency from the music and leave the singer with a very difficult and thankless task.
I would love to hear your rendition of "Avant de quitter ces lieux"
A bit rushed and asynchronous in the beginning. But perfect vibrato.
It’s slower than most other tempi. And it is MUCH too slow in some of the later sections. A bit lugubrious when the text is actually indicating intensity, urgency.
