Then after World-War-II, there was also an uncontrolled influx/mass migration of people from the provinces all looking for jobs, but most of them weren't qualified, that's why most of them ended up in the slums. The mass migration from the provinces into Manila started from the 1950's and lasted all the way to the early 2000's, it's still happening today but at a smaller rate. This means that the city didn't have enough time to get properly rehabilitated, that's why it is disorganized, it also couldn't support this huge population.

yeah, i used to live there, just two streets away from that church on coronado street for 10 years. i frequently found myself sitting on the pavement stairs to clear my head. It's a great spot to chill and think, especially with all the makati hustle and bustle around. i was surprised when I saw this footage, it never crossed my mind that the original church was way bigger and wider than what's there now
