- So as expected we got some early LEGO Star Wars 2024 Leaked images regarding some LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigures. I was expecting the large ammo pouch because it seems Lego is still making live action and animated clones together like the belt and ammo pouch size is live action accurate and armor shape is accurate to the animated clone wars

Malak fig is absolutely great!!! A must- have for me. Wish Fives could be better, but par for the course with Lego clones these days I suppose.
They must be trolling with their clones when they will make a new mold for Maleks mask but not for Five's helmet.

I think the Darth Malek is great. But I think the Fives could be better. But I love Both and will be great for my collection 😁
the black series figure was based on the kotor remake concept art, and the one lego made is based on the original kotor design. thats why the waist cape is different. so technically the waist cape being fabric would be necessary but its the same situation as clones having a printed kama rather than a fabric piece.
I have seen multiple in game renders and clips of Malek with no side and back fabric too? Where would those be from
@@LifeBricks Good point, but thats usually just because malak is standing with his legs "wide" for lack of a better word with the cape draping behind his upper thighs, which is different than clone kamas because they're in-universe a thicker fabric which is because its supposed to be more practical. malaks waist cape is more like darth vader's robes as sometimes we see them behind his legs or infront.

I dont mind fives’ pauldron, never liked the ones that drape all the way down the arm. It’s just the helmet’s forehead and lack of kama for me
I love how I can watch his vids on x1.75 speed and still perfectly understand everything. Really useful with longer videos
Do you think vader needs a waistcape he has some of his robes come down below his belt, but it is usually hard to see because of his cape. Lego usually just prints this detail
I do not think Vader needs a cloth waistcape, just Clones and Snowtroopers personally
The anniversary figure I’m most excited for is Kal Kestis. I’m halfway through BD-1 and can’t wait to have them together.

Interesting point about clone silhouettes looking top heavy. I agree, their soft goods gear should span their full length on the body not just their shoulder cloth up top.

Again with the inconsistencies. Darth Malek looks good and accurate in universe while Fives has inaccuracies from his in universe character. It's just sad to me that custom clone makers have better quality than Lego. Like I get that custom makers can do more characters and more details but the quality on clones has not been as good as the rest of Star Wars figures
Maybe a mass produced minifigure wont be better than a custom minifigure that is supposed to be hyper realistic

I give Fives a 7/10
-1 point for the print on the Helmet
-1 point for printing the kama instead of giving us one made of cloth
-0.5 points for the toooo big Amunitions pack on his chest
-0.5 points for the little funky and weird shoulder pauldron, but atleast they tried.
Its better then I thought. I buy the set and put him next to my 2013 Phase 2 Captain/Commander Rex.

If there is a backpack for fives, it might help push the shoulder cloth down if you but the clip on top of them
I think it’s amazing LEGO is doing figures like these but both Malak and Fives have issues. Fives has an inaccurate helmet, cut off missing waist cape, oversized ammo pouch, missing dual molded legs, and just very off helmet printing to the source material.
Malak is better but his face tattoos cut off. Malak also should have dual molded black boots and maybe arm printing. It’s funny how they made a new mold for Malaks jaw yet they can’t make a better clone trooper helmet that would actually be reused a lot . In my opinion Malak should have had a printed jaw that goes around his face, and put more of the budget into more accurate printing instead of making a jaw piece.
Fives is a 5/10
Malak is a 7/10

The exact reasons why I gave those ratings are listed above. I think it is ok to constructively critique a multi-billion dollar company that can improve their products. I am not fully satisfied because there are multiple issues especially with the Fives (many). I appreciate LEGO for doing this in the first place, but since these are probably one time releases, I think it’s fair to be more critical. LEGO should live by their motto of only the best is good enough and give consumers who are spending fifty or hundreds the best products they can especially when it won’t cost them that much more to have a cloth piece or slightly more printing.
The tattoos on the face are fine for the space they had and they couldn't really paint beyond the sides (not even the characters with features that are supposed to be on the sides of the face like beards for example, have them) I guess than due to internal manufacturing things. Nor does he need printing on the arms, since Darth Malak himself has nothing notable in that place. I actually only agree about the boots.
I respect other opinions, but LEGO was printing hair on top of the head pieces of NBA figures in 2003, and customs makers have done face side prints with MUCH MUCH more limited resources and printers. Malak’s face tattoos should have gone to the top and other sides. As for arm printing, a good comparison is Vader. Obviously Vader has been released in many sets, and never was a character who desperately needed arm printing but LEGO fans appreciated it when they started to give him arm printing. I wish they gave him arm printing, but it is ok I guess how it is. I also feel that the jaw piece looks too large, and should have been printed probably. In my opinion there is not just one but multiple issues with Malak. If it has issues it is not 9/10 or 10/10 just my opinion but much respect to other opinions.
LEGO has been seeing recording earnings, and slight improvements for Star Wars figs will not only go a long way for accuracy and sales, but it would also be cheap to make them better. Look at the $5 CMF’s FFS. LEGO goes the extra mile for CMF’s sometimes making multiple new molds for one series but can’t make a good Captain Rex for a $650 set!!! Many CMF figures do not require leg print or arm printing but LEGO still does it anyway! It is a practice that LEGO has done known as making the best product!
Malak looks great. Fives is a bit disappointing but I still will get him. Maybe one day Lego will make clones great again.

never been all too deep in the Old Republic stuff, but all the characters from the cinematics are epic and I really love that Malak figure. Wish I had Malgus and Revan too. Fives is underwhelming tbh, but kinda as expected. Hope that cal kestis will look good, but think he will be fine bc he doesn't have a helmet or waist cape lol

I don't understand why some people complain about the fives helmet not beeing a 1.5 arc trooper helmet
I think where that stems from is the fact we have a PERFECT 1.5 helmet that existed at one point but have yet to ever have a PERFECT P2 helmet ever. So to allow fives to be even greater 1.5 would be ideal for most.
Because tbh it would just look better tbh with how they’ve been doing clones recently
Bc the 1.5 is a superior mold. We also seen fives in 1.5 ARC trooper armor before so it would make sense.
@@LifeBricks I can understand that, but I think its better with this helmet, because the only time he used the 1.5 helmet is in the citadel arc, while the one the figure haves is the helmet he used during umbara arc and at the first episode of the discovery of the chip arc, which are better and more remembered than the citadel.

I really don't know why they don't just bring back a updated version of the accessory bags that used to come in the 2008-2011sets. It had the Visor, Pauldron, Kama, Range finder, helmet lights and 2 small blasters pistols. A little updating to the Pauldron and Kama, maybe some printing and I think everyone could be happy.
Great video and breakdown! Potentially thinking of getting the Tantive IV set mainly for the minifigures, getting ARC Trooper Fives will be a cool addition (probably will put him next to 501st Battle pack.
The only downside I can see on the Malak figure is that its missing the black boots. Other then that its great. Lets not talk about Fives tho…
They took the perfect ARC trooper pauldron and made it worse, and they took the already bad Rex pauldron and kept it the same. Their pauldrons are supposed to be the same shape, one single sided and one double sided obviously, but now they look completely different.
My cousin gave me his 2012 arc trooper battlepack because it was left in his closet and wasn’t used and when I opened it the cloth pieces were missing from the set
Malak is a 7 or 8 out of 10. For Lego now, that is great. But also sad they just can't do the absolute best they can.

Fives has much more significant appearences in the P2 outfit. It wouldnt have made sense if he had the p1/2 helmet. I love the fig, imo its immaculate(par the cloth piece)

Yay to lego figuring out how to sell the R2s.
What I don't understand is why Lego abandoned cloth waistcapes, Phase 1.5 helmets and cloth ARC trooper pauldrons when they LITERALLY ALREADY USED THEM on Hammer. We already know helmet holes are a massive problem, and every helmet will be like that now, so my advice is to buy the Fives and any other official clones you want, then swap out the bad bits for GCC stuff. I know it costs more, but to be honest I think Lego probably realised that's what most fans will do anyway.

The waist cape should have happened. Using the “middle ground” argument doesn’t work because you are always stuck with a printed waist cape. If they went with a physical one, you could decide if you wanted to represent it or not.
I don’t agree with the middle ground at all but I am certainly more accepting of it on Malek for the reasons mentioned then any Clone Trooper

Yesterday or so I saw Fives back and there is no 25th anniversary thingy on his back. The only thing erong with him is the print on da helmet and that he has no kama.
That Darth Malak figure is just ✨perfect✨ and to be honest i think that Lego did Fives pretty good it's almost perfect it needed that kama and i would say mission compleet
All the custom arc troopers made out there come with those flat pauldrons... This is not different. The helmet is a lil wonky... But you can always curve those fabric pauldrons over time

That is not accurate. From what you're saying I assume that you never played the Knight of the old Republic Video game but let me tell you that Malak always has the cloth around his hips in the original game just like the Clones have in Clone Wars.
Only secondary material takes it away for aesthetics or other reasons.
Same goes for the cape, in the game it's black not any degree of brown or red

I think is n’y that bad exept the small helmet print problem ( easely fixed with posca ) and the lack of clothes kama ( stop hoping lego won’t use cloche kama, it is a shame yes but since they don’t want to do it, i am retiering it from my criteria ) thé minifig looks really good, awsome faceprint
