I wish they let the animations play longer, some of these have no reason being slideshows and just let be, but i guess its just the aesthetic they decided to go 100% with

The Voice of the Narrator of Dragon Ball Z died today. I feel like he woyldve gladly voiced these if he was in good health. RIP NARRATOR
i get why people would be upset about the slideshow esque story, but we did just get Kakarot a few years ago.

Not only does it enhance the package by adding replay value after finishing official content, but it will literally foster so much creativity in the young fans that are using it
Honestly, if Ultimate Tenkaichi had similar custom battles, it would’ve been gas

For those who grew up in the PS2 era of DBZ(AKA Peak) this game feels made for us, it was worth the wait, complaints aside this game is such a joy to boot up and play.

When I saw that the slides weren't voiced by a narrator I first thought my game was glitched. I had to RUclips someone else playing it to see that they weren't. Crazy.

This coverage got me to finally try out dbz kakarot and I’m having a blast with it can’t wait to play sparking zero
I've also been playing Kakarot recently, it's pure video game, both games, I've never been so happy with so much Dragon Ball content like this

I said early on that whoever developed the game would absolutely have no choice but to make a great game. If they managed to fumble this i really think Spike would've been in really bad shape considering its track record. Grateful we got this game and even more thankful that so far it's a great product. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel they just refinded it and made it better looking.

I actually love the idea of the custom battle episode feature, I used to play the old Tenkaichi games and make up stories for why they were fighting, kind of like playing with action figures as a kid, lol.
Absolutely agree with you in commending the game for not going the monetization and DLC path, this is the first fighting game in over ten years that felt like the roster is worth it at launch.
The story mode is more like Budokai 3 not Tenkaichi 3. plus all the what ifs. If you wanna play an in depth story with normal pacing, DBZ kakarot exists.
How is it like B3? In B3 you could fly around the whole map to get items, what ifs and other special interactions, it's more resembling to BT3.
@@LaryCaverga94 because rather than 3 missions in an arc menu per saga, you play as individual characters and see the story multiple times form different points of view. The ONLY other game that does that is B3.
Even the use of portraits instead of cutscenes is B3.

I would say that the cinematics come from the actual gameplay and in-combat super moves and transformations, instead of just giving you cool cutscenes.
thats probably my main complaint. BT3 had way more in game super moves . and it seems mainly Kamehameha users get them .
i know the story mode is something we all seen so many times and kakarot did it amazing and part of me wishes they never made kakarot and took that storymode and brought the world map and put that in sparkling zero

I can’t stop playing it’s that great !! Ranked Multiplayer aside I do hope more is added but defensively there IS more depth but offensively I wish there was more.
I wish the story mode was fully connected with different branching paths instead of being split into different character/

Custom battles adds so much content to the game
For the actual cutscenes they did have i did like that we could watch it in forst person its really a new way to experience the same stpry weve had been for years lol
I've been playing with Japanese audio and the lip syncing is surprisingly perfect. Impressively so, even with the Great Apes and such. You'd imagine it'd look goofy but it actually sells it really well. It must be one of those things where they completely ignored the English lip sync and just left the Japanese animations.
I get the criticism but some people are already just being way to negative about the small stuff imo. But thats thier choice. Im personally just glad we got another dragonball game. Especially a BT game

Wow, you really nailed my issue with the story mode. It feels kinda cheap the way it's handled IMO, like it's actually breaking my immersion how much of it isn't voiced or animated and I had to put it down earlier and was considering just returning the my playthrough of Kakarot. Speaking of which, I think this game as is is mostly going to serve as a companion piece to Kakarot, where you play Kakarot for the story and Sparking Zero for the more aracde like experience, and the what-if story content. (since kakarot doesn't have 1v1 game mode where you can play as the other characters.). Having both installed at the same time will make for a really great Dragon Ball experience.
Also, while I enjoy that they have had some focus on super there's still so much I want from Super too, I hope the third dlc gives us some characters from the ToP.
Yeah I wish they AT LEAST got a narrator like if they had that it would have improved it abit. Thankfully the story isn’t the main focus of the game

11:30 Yeah good point, I was watching my friend play and asked him if that was a microtransaction shop because before he said no, we're all rottened by modern gaming having all of that so it's refreshing to get ag ame where you can earn that stuff in game because you already bought the actual game. I lean towards Kakarot more since it's more of an rpg, but I't's great to see DBZ and gamers happy in a weird triple A time right now

cause it just can feel odd to me that a brand new release can only be found in your "Retro Rebound" channel XD
it makes me wonder things like, If I want to know about Matty's opinions on Metal Gear Solid Delta, would it be on Retro Rebound because it's a remake of a classic? Or would I find it on his main channel because it is a brand new release? But such a high profile release, wouldn't it get more views and conversation happening if was instead on the main channel instead?
My thinking is, maybe instead of having this dillema in which you have to choose, why not in these kinds of situations just release the same video on both channels? I highly doubht all your main channel viewers are exact duplicates of your viewers of Retro Rebound
A lot of us are your fans so sure we do subscribe to both channels but I do have to wonder in these kinds of cases, by choosing to release a video on one channel over the other, maybe it's missing a wider reach and audience
But maybe I'm overthinking things here I donno, but just thought to blurt out my thought process on this here ;p

Incredible game, My only complaints so far is the Shop and the Wishes. They are kind of pointless. Basically everything you can wish for you can earn or buy. Also a lot of what you can buy you can earn. They should have had exclusive items and things earning, shop and wishes

The only issue i have with unlocking characters and stages is that it makes quick couch coop play a lot less fun. Sometimes you just wanna pop in a fighting game to play with some friends and it sucks when you only have 2 characters and one stage to play with

I can’t believe people are complaining about the slide shows. With the actual amount of content that we got with the game. Not to mention the beautiful graphics. The combat is smooth. You can create your own story’s, customize characters. And the roster itself is amazing.

I personally ended up refunding it. The graphics and amount of characters are top tier, but the story being basically a TLDR PowerPoint presentation, the controls feeling unresponsive, at least on PC, pressing the triggers to open up the transformation or swap characters menu, use specials, etc all of that had like an extra second delay, it made the combat feel super clunky. Did about 20 online matches hoping the PvP was better and it was just "Whoever spams the most specials win". Not for me. Kudos to Steam for giving me a refund after 5 hours of gameplay. There is fun to be had for sure, but, at least to me, it is 30$ fun, something you know will get boring after a few hours or one of those games you play with friends to mess around a bit, not the 70 they are asking and much less the 100 dollars I paid for it. Will get it again once its on sale.

Well i'am on pc, and i already know how the stories will looks like so, k never put my hopes to have a very decent story with full cutscenes animation. For whoever spams the most is definitely wrong. You found it played that way because you skip the entire training section. They literally teach you everything that you need. I played online and most of my matches are a close combat battle rather than a ki blast spam. Anyway, i understand how you're feeling especially if you're a newcomer to BT series, and just planning to play this game just for the story. If one day you pick this game again, i recommend you to learn the combat more because it's deeper than what you thought.
As a pc player, the cons for this game are:
- The sparking super moves kinda delayed and it's made me to do guard rather than my super.
- The story narration with no voice over
- There's no explanation for how to win the clash. (unless i missed it).
Anyways if you already refund the game, and don't know what to do with the funds, i recommend you to pick up Metaphor refantazio. You also can try the demo first before decided to buy the full game.

I feel it's less a game and a pure cold hard dose of grade A dragon ball just for use to cabbage out watching some the best animations ever seen

What about the game dropping inputs, terrible camera and unstable 60 fps cap even on PC? Just gonna glaze it and ignore the issues like so many others I see.
I'm on PC- its a pretty stable 60 fps for me. Can't yet speak on the input drops tho.

A lot of people are reporting the game eating inputs on conroller. Even my friend who dropped the $100 for early access says he's noticed it and he hasn't even touched online yet. He says the game feels like a 6/10 and GameSpot really was based lol@@scottpennington5686
Camera is my biggest problem it actually sucks
FPS is stable for me and the input dropping came from guard assist being on, since turning that off, I’ve had no input issues whatsoever. Also for fighting games 60 is pretty standard, though being an arena fighter, I understand the criticism.
The 2 player character select screen is clunky and one at a time super frustrating when couch playing

that's all I needed, I don't even like Nintendo or Smash Bros, but recently I got addicted to Smash Bros Ultimate just because of that (excluding characters from other franchises that are season pass)

It really sucks the story mode is the weakest part of the game (awkwardly quiet slideshows that are only partially voice acted) and it makes you question the price tag and why they cut corners on that. Like, hire a narrator for the in-between voiceover at the least. on the bright side, everything else is what i wanted

😂😂😂😂😂 Kakarot wasn't even a real RPG had so much filter in that game and you barely play as Goku and some of the DLC was good and some of it was trash😂😂😂 to this game is like Xenoverse the story is set up the way they have it to make you play the game longer to play two different Pathways and people having a problem with the game is because it's hard to get activated one or the other pathways😂😂😂 did it on purpose to make sure people play this game a little bit longer

yes, two. 1 - do 3 online battles. 2 - do 100 online battles.

My main complaint would be having to unlock 🔓 characters. Why can't all the characters be available from the start?? Having to unlock characters sounds too grindy to me.
And what's the fun in that?
Your the problem with todays gaming. It’s a GAME it’s meant to play and what’s the fun in having everything right away? How do you even start trying every character when you already start with almost 200? If anything they gave you too much unlocked to already start with
Ohhh I strongly disagree, I wish more games followed this philosophy and made things like characters and maps unlockable. It gives you a sense of progression, achievement, and something to play for. I think it adds a lot more value to the experience and encourages you to engage with the game as intended. Of course balance is the key and it shouldn't require like hundreds of hours or be impossible to unlock things if you're not an absolute master at the game, but I don't think that's the case here. Same as super smash bros ultimate, you can unlock every character by just playing regular matches and beating the new characters, or by playing the story mode or classic mode. Very doable, but a rewarding experience nonetheless
As long as it's not impossible to unlock them.. And by that I mean very Hard.

This is my first Budokai Tenchaichi game on the Playstation. I played BT2 and BT3 on the Wii. I went straight to training to learn the mechanics. I completed and read EVERYTHING in training to prepare myself for the story. The training helped but that difficulty is too high. I don't want to breeze through the story but some of those fights are ridiculous at the beginning.
honestly, the game looks unfinished. the character select screen is a mess. they didn't even bother to organize it like tenkaichi 3. the graphics are also pretty mediocre. it looks like a ps3 game.
Soooo many streamers on twitch, who never played any Budokai Tenkaichi, trying to surf the hype, not understanding what make those games so nostalgic, giving their "hot takes" on why people who like those games are "wrong". Glad that on youtube is diferent.
