When i was a student we always have good times by singing with some of my classmates, bring guitars or just tapping the chairboard and voila! Instant band😂 and now we are a teachers!
True! Guitar is always present in a boarding house during my college days, and whenever there is time for boarders to come together, we jam with the guitar and during my time, csn, bread, america was our favorite band because we harmonize

I'm my own experience Filipinos student instead of gadgets on thier hands during break time ieghther guitar or what ever that they can use to sing and make fun of it, teachers don't mind it.
80% percent know how to sing, 20% percent are audience and clappers... im one of the 20% hahahaha
The 20% is all singers but of different tune maybe somewhere out there in the planet not discover yet.

During high school, we have this songfest at school where all classes from first to fourth years were required to join. Practices were done during music class.
It is just normal for Filipinos to sing till the wee hours of the morning with their karaokes, until this was banned since it disturbs a lot of people sleeping. Now, they only have till 10 pm.
We also have fiestas and there are a lot of amateur singing contests.
Grown up in elementary school singing religious songs for 6 years before attending class. Warbling and out of tune most of the time. After practice for 2 hour i would find my range again and eloquence. This usually happen when i was forced into a drinking session.

Pilipino pastime is singing, you can hear people singing everywhere, even all neighbourhood do karaoke almost everyday, especially every Saturday and Sunday, each house have keraoke and it's like having fiesta everyday, every week.. LOVE FROM DAVAO CITY..

The first time my husband heard me sing was when we attended a Christmas party of Filipino Americans in a friend's home. They had a karaoke and the women were having a songfest. The next day, my husband took me shopping and bought me a karaoke machine. I guess he loved my singing voice. Lol.

Please don't get me wrong coz they're all amazing singers, i just don't see nothing special on them, it's just so happened that someone has a phone to record them and post them so they've gone viral. Or Maybe becoz i am a Filipino and see this as common performances everywhere here in the country.
It (singing genes) has just become too common to us Filipinos. So we don't relate it as talent anymore. Also partly we can speak and understand and pronounce English and with a karaoke machine as our secret weapon....😂😂😂
