My favorite Megadeth song. I'm kind of embarrassed to say my son told me, hey Dad I have a friend at school his name is Justis and his dad Dave Mustaine is a rockstar I had no idea who he was. Justis spent a lot of time over at our house playing music with my son and Dave and his wife Pam came over a couple times and they're very down-to-earth and super nice people. Dave is a very intelligent guy.

Dystopia Plus I have a 45 minute interview with Marty on my channel. I have been friends and worked with him on other projects for 20 years. Those are facts. You think that me stating a fact is bragging? Should I say that I’ve been friends with Marty for 20 years but don’t really know him? We are working on another video together idiot. I don’t know about Warren but when I say I know someone, they are longtime friends not someone I’ve met once.

    • @0okamino

@Rick Beato - I think that was meant in a tongue-in-cheek manner. I can understand being fed up with the ridiculous cynicism, but anyone with enough sense to follow your videos should be expected to know that you're not really throwing stuff out there as some sort of obnoxious brag, and likely aren't serious if they make reference to it. Personally, though, I'd probably brag about it. ;)

David Ellefson’s bass was one of the things that always set Megadeth apart, to me. He didn’t just double the guitar riffs. His creative walking bass lines made the songs that much more interesting...and the fact that the albums were mixed so that the bass was audible!

Bass part over the chorus guitars is brilliant. It’s stuff like that that made me a bass player. The guitar part is already beautiful, but that walking bass motion up while the guitars have chromatic motion down is just, 👌👌👌👌. It makes the whole section IMO. Keeps a “pretty” part rockin while also adding more motion and color. And it’s not too much. Perfect.

I suggest either the title track (a part of what makes the song great is the cryptic lyrics based on a true story)or the Fun Palace, both nothing short of masterpieces of music. The scales, rhythm phrasing, the changes and dynamics etc. give multitudes to analyze and of course the technicality is superb.

RICK! thanks for making an episode dedicated to Megadeth! Dave Mustaine is my favorite guitarist of all time. After reading his autobiography and everything he has endured through his life he deserves to be hailed as a legend I've been a Thrasher since I was a little kid and hearing peace sells on the radio. I started doing chorus and keyboard in middle school picked up my first guitar at 16 and never looked back, I was introduced to so many amazing metal, classical, and blues artists since but Megadeth remains my 2nd favorite band. I remember learning the main riff for symphony of destruction as my first riff! I'm also from upstate NY, in a small boonies town in the finger lakes I record at home and a local studio but have to record everything myself...minus drums as I just use EZDrummer and its very tiring...time consuming, expensive and their is a lot of self doubt when I get to the bass recording not being a competent bass player...im so sorry if this sounds like a huge rant but I'm a shy quiet person who doesn't really talk a lot I have only been in one real band in my life and that was 11 years ago (we played 80's covers) since I have tried and tried to move around the state to find like minded musicians I even went to Schenectady's School of Music but it seems no one wants to play metal around here and I'm so bummed because I live about 50 minutes from where Kill Em All was recorded in Rochester but the metal vibe has decayed here....all the bands who do play metal are full bands. Thank you again Rick for your amazing videos I'm learning a lot more about music watching you breakdown songs and talk theory and ill never stop doing what I love most \m/

Great stuff, as always it's an eye-opener. I love the bass sound you got from that Darkglass head. Their stuff just always seems to sound... right.

On the opening you missed the "MEGADETH MEGADETH AGUANTE MEGADETH!". It's OK. It can happen. 🤣🤣🤣

@@RetroPillowcase what Geronimo said. Search for the first time that happened. It's funny because Dave messes up the song because he gets confused! 😆😆😆

When they got to the first break point I noticed that that small bass change actually is a big part in the emotion of the sound to me it’s a small bass change too while everything stays the same it still changed it a bit
