Kiritsugu Emiya... his legacy shaped the course of Fate/Stay Night. A tragic man who wanted to be a hero only to watch as his ideals failed him and took away everything he loved, leaving him a broken man who passed along his flawed ideals to the one person he saved from that hell

We know that his grail war was somewhat like the events of the FATE route, there were major differences of course. One of them was that he could not save sabers soul. Since he had nobody by his side. He was utterly alone, without the answer that UBW shirou had, or the love of saber in his memories. He did have Ilya for a bit though. This explains his fondness of her throughout the novel.

    • @r.k845
      @r.k845 6 лет назад +5

Possibly. Like I said we really don't know. It's fairly obvious they grew distant after the grail war though. If she even survived it that is. It's been implied that his pact with alaya caused his hanging but we're not sure why. Despite my anger at UFOTABLE for animating fate in the wrong order. They have created a situation where an archer route is a possibility after they finish heavens feels. Since its a alt fate route with possible bits of the missing Ilya route attached, it would provide a new route with information from the old ones while still being fresh.

Funny I always see FZ and UBW as criticism of perception of heroism and redefine what heroism is.
FZ criticized heroism for their idealistic utopia of creating a perfect world because the reality a perfect world only exist when you make a lot of sacrifice which defeat the point of a perfect utopia. Only at the end Kiritsugu become a true hero by saving one person.
Kiritsugu action inspired shirou to carry on his legacy and continue to become hero by saving other which whole point of UBW is that heroes does not create a perfect utopia but who focus on doing good and save other which inspired other to follow his path.
In a sense it was a criticism toward characters like Batman, sasuke and other edgy type that tried to change the world and more praising people like Superman who simply save other because he can.

    • @LeonGun8

@FBI Actually if he was anything like the EXTRA Archer then he likely had a loved one. His regret happened after death, not while alive. Archer even says as much, that he did not regret a single thing in his lifetime. When Shirou sees the valley of swords in the VN he mentions that he didn't saw a broken man who was betrayed, but a man who accepted even death because he had kept saving others to the very end. The regrets come from the murders he had to commmit as a Counter Guardian.

In Nasuverse, its dark and cold. The reality that we know whether from the mundane or in the moonlit world.
All around vestige of cruelty and beast all alike.
For Gaia, the will of the planet, sought humanity destruction upon her pleading to the Ultimate One, Crimson Moon.
But hope not lost when humanity collective will Alaya presents the heroes of old to defend us from the darkness and extinction.
Still it won't go away. The ill fates destined to sought and wrought us into a hopeless and broken existence.
Sometimes we all need a little push, a little hope, a glimmer of light that would bring us peace.
One was born from that day upon curses, brimstone and fire.
A boy so broken that he die that day but brought back upon a man that caused it.
Never again the boy the same for he cannot be again the same he was.
Like nothing just to fill the empty void.

@@rogueascendant6611 Beautiful. It sums up the feeling of the Nasuverse quite well. We see in the tragedies that befall heroes, the cruelty of the world, leaving no good unpunished. Yet within those heroes, we're shown the earnesty of mankind, struggling with an impossible selflessness. Together, they form a mesmerising juxtaposition, that reads like a sunset. Two opposite concepts in the same space, defining one another in ways unseen alone. Light and dark. Hope and despair. And the beauty in between.

When I was a child, there were a lot of things I thought I wanted to be when I grew up.
...I wonder. Was being a 'Hero of Justice' ever one of them?
    ...Maybe it was.
    ...Maybe it wasn't.
I mean, I think most kids at some point in their lives might've had that dream...
....At least, I hope they did...
But then. Time passes, you get older, and life happens.
For a lot of us, it just isn't possible to honestly dream of being a 'Hero' anymore....
The most we can do is fondly look back on that far off wish, or watch as someone else picks up where we left off.
    ...Me personally?
I've never really believed in 'Heroes of Justice' to begin with.
I might've dreamt of being a Hero as a child, but I never believed that they were real in my heart of hearts.
    The simple answer being...
*People never really get saved in the first place. Not by a 'Hero', anyway.*
...Well, you might call the people who helped you a Hero, and you may even honestly believe that they are, which is fine.
...But even in that case I've never even had that much.
The most I can say was that ordinary people sometimes helped me out from time to time and that's it.
    Really though...
It'd be ludicrous to think I'm anyone's 'hero'.
...I couldn't even make one person legitimately happy since the day I was born.
    Now, don't misunderstand me.
I'm sure that my being around has helped somebody, somewhere, and in some way at some point... but that's not the same as making them happy from the bottom of their heart bc it was me, never mind saving them.
...It's complicated and self centered I know, but...
That's what a 'Hero' is when you get right down to it.
Someone who selfishly butts in and meddles in your life bc they care, or us selfishly labeling said meddler a 'Hero' *precisely* they meddled in our lives and 'saved' us.
    ...It's utter nonsense really.
Just meaningless hypocrisy put on a pedstal by the powerless and stupid.
    ...But even so.
There's nothing more beautiful and honest than wanting to save someone, even if it's just a tiny bit.
...Even if it's because of selfisness, or that nobody asked for it.
    Honestly?
I, probably don't believe in half of the garbage I said there at the end...
    ...Still...
*Earnestly wanting to save someone must be beautiful... So much so that I feel like my heart might completely break*
    ...But...
...It's alright to still believe that, isn't it?
    ...I, honestly have no clue...

    • @mamenchia
      @mamenchia 5 лет назад +24

You my friend, have quite the flare for drama. Ever considered writing? That aside though, if one were to take this seriously, then the simple answer is no. It aint wrong to believe that, however, wanting to earnestly help people and wanting to be a Hero are two different things, and both are byproducts of the other. Spending a life earnestly wanting to help people and doing so is admirable, and is more than enough for people to call you a hero. There are people like that in the world. Who honestly care and help because they care. Everyone meddles in others lives in some way, these kinds of people just want to make sure you do ok as they do so. Wanting to be a hero is different. Helping people is the byproduct. Sure you may want to help people, but ultimately the motivation for wanting to be a hero is to want to live by the ideals of justice and benevolence. Thats doesn't mean you don't genuinely care for people, just that you want to uphold your own ideals of justice and love. Its never wrong to want to spend your whole life helping people, but you must know for what reason you do so. For others, or for yourself. Neither choice is wrong, but its still something you must know otherwise you may end up regretting it for the rest of your life. Kinda like Archer

Demon Slayer has great animation I will not doubt that, but it‘s story was a real letdown especially towards the end of the manga.
But I will not fault the writer here, he was on a super tight schedule and had limited chapters to work with so everything felt rushed.
      Fate doesn‘t have this problem
and when I read through the VN everything just fit neatly storywise...although Hollow ataraxia still throws me out the loop(pun intended)

    sleepyprinny
    Emiya Kiritsugu
An example of a truly beautiful failure and a testament to the hypocrisy that is human nature born of a genuine wish to save people.
A tragic irony that borders on heartbreaking...so much so that one can't help but cry for the poor fool...envy that fervent and grandiose wish and condemn him for his delusions as a ridiculous farce.
Indeed, a real sense of catharsis can be seen in the guilt ridden to the point of broken son Shirou whose life ends just as pathetically betrayed in life by his own actions and the very people he'd save only to willingly damn himself to ean eternity of "saving" mankind by mercilessly ending their lives all because we are disgusting and near irredeemable mistakes to a planet that should've purged us outright.
No wonder then that the guilt drove Archer further to despair, so much so that he thought killing himself would end his torment in a last twisted, yet understandable, act of salvation to his younger self...
Add to that Shirou coming to terms with all by admitting that it is all a lie and yet pressing forward regardless showing a strength that may actually let him become a hero...
Still, the price he paid to get there....I wonder if anyone could pay with that level of conviction. ..

At least Kiritsugu got to die and rest in peace while his son was doomed to become a counter-guardian forever.

Yes you are right. I really like resolution of shirou's dream. I think shirou's ideal was not childish. It is like us humans who dreams a utopian world where everyone can live happily, freely and equally without any dispute but it is impossible. It doesn't mean we disregard this dream. We humans still chase this ideal, causes us to improve and make a better world to live. It is impossible to create perfect world but idea of perfect world forces us humans to improve in whole human history.
This is also adopted by shirou. He can't make a perfect world but he can make better place for people. He will try to save as many people as he can but he will not regret for anyone which he can't able to save. Archer kills many people but he forget that he was able to create a better place for humans to live. He forget the joy for saving someone even it cost someone. It is the biggest resolution of shirou of his ideal in unlimited blade works.

u all didn't get the meaning..
if u die because u are killed by someone, it is a REAL death. your soul killed by another soul..
how weak u are.. how shame..
but if u die because natural cause, it is different.
      that's what shirou meant.
this meme is going too far away and always repeated over and over on internet. i'm tired of this shit.
the only funny quote is the rin's quote about "archer class really made up from archer". but rin did that on purpose.. she can't praise someone directly. soo she use sarcasm or something like that to praise archer's competency. soo it's not funny

You'd think he was merely "stating the obvious", but ask yourself this.
Do you actually understand that ppl die when they're killed, or do you only rationally and theoretically understand the concept of ppl dying when they're killed?
Shirou was bathed in a sea of death and flames as he watched ppl die, left others to die, and was himself dying.
For the rest of us, death when ppl are killed is mere hindsight in many cases.
It's distant and abstract until you see it for yourself.
Distance is everything as far as context is concerned.... all the more poignant when you're a part of that context.
It's less Shirou being dumb and more to him laying out in no uncertain terms the finality of confronting death by the hundreds only to nearly die yourself.
Trauma and survivors guilt left him pretty messed up.

Since Kajiura realized SAO was gonna be some shitty A1 - Shonen adaptation she got lazy and decided to remaster some of Fate/Zero's OSTs for it. F/Z is the Prequel To F/SN. Listen to "Rule the Battlefield" and tell me what does this remind you of.

It isn't even that tbh Kaijura's more recent stuff since after Madoka and Zero have mostly just been redones of her tracks to those so they sound very alike it's called the 'Kaijura effect'
Not that it matters because each track has a semi-different flair and still sound amazing.

Tony Redgrave yeap,, the heavens feel trilogy soundtrack had huge throwbacks to zero, had dashes of kara no kyoukai,, and the battlescene music was... well... find “she rules the battlefield” and “he rises again and again”. Lets just say, I am in utter jealousy at the people who watched lost butterfly in theatres😂😂😂

@@siphemanana2551 I kinda cringe at what I said here tbh
The major reason to those ACTUALLY wondering is that Kajiura around this time in particular was inspired by her own music an example of this is Fate/Zero's OST and the tracks she wrote for it made her want to do full versions of motifs she had in it in SAO itself.
You can usually draw similiarties to many of Kajiura's works because of this as each project she does tends to be the inspiration for the next.
