Thank you,
Devin K.
Thanks Devin. That looks easy. A friend recently gifted me one of these. It’s also a “DR-Low Serial No.” rifle. The stock is in rough shape and the bluing is totally gone, but the bore looks decent. I’m hesitant to redo the stock without re-treating the metal as well because that always looks rather incomplete.
Nice shirt of our devise "liberté égalité fraternité"
Grow a Kaiser Wilhelm mustache 😂
Prussian Germany working on it
This vid really helped. I picked up my first surplus Mauser which is a VZ 24. So far she has been fun to shoot when she does shoot. The only food I have been able to easily procure for her is a batch of surplus Turkish ammunition. She will eat it but is somewhat unhappy doing so as I have to retry cartridges at least once per clip. Could this be a spring issue of a previous owner storing it cocked and giving the firing spring a “set” ,these are older springs after all, or is it an ammunition issue? I have checked Wolf springs for VZ 24 firing pin springs and although they do have several types of Mauser springs they do not have VZ 24 springs so I’m kinda worried about buying springs that may not fit. Would Yugo Mauser springs fit? Alternatively if anyone can show me good places to acquire higher quality 8mm ammunition that would also be appreciated.
hey bro great video. But i have a question and ned help. I have a 1926 Czech VZ2 my Grandfather took off a german during WWII and its all matching and has all the proper Czech markings but for some reason it dosnt have the caliber marking on it? Unless it could possibly be a marking rather then a number and mm? So do you know how to figure out what its chambered in or is there some resource i can go too for that? thanks
Should be on the side of the of the gun
tnx man
Hey, I'm new to the VZ24 but becoming an addict now. What size spanner screw driver do I need for the lower barrel band? Are the rest of the spanner screws on the other sling swivel and cross bolt the same size or different? I need to pull one of the other screws out to bust some rust off of it. Thanks.
Mikhail Kalashnikov they should all be flathead screws except that one cross bolt on the barrel band and for that one cross bolt I use about a 2.5 mm split head screwdriver
@@DevinK Thanks!
hi. the upper hand guard is frozen on my rifle. i could get the lower stock off, but the upper hand guard spring band seems glued to the barrel. any ideas on how to remove it?
Use a little heat if you have a heat gun or hair dryer.
Enjoyed the video, Lots I did not know.
I too have a VZ-24.
Where the best place to look to narrow down the age of the gun? My serial # does not start with letters but numbers.
Also..
On the trigger guard, closest to the button/release, there is a hole drilled thru the trigger guard. Any idea if this had a practical purpose? Or perhaps a site/location for an additional weather protection attachment?
Curious to your thoughts.
Billy Bob mine has the tigger guard as well and there is some sights you can look up the serial number block your rifle is in to be able to what contract and to which country it was meant to go, at least at first
My front barrel ban is FROZEN onto the riffle any tips? I don’t want to chip or crack anything
555Enclave just give it some light taps it will come loose it’s not uncommon it’s probably just years of grease built up that hardened
@@DevinK Will do. Taps on the bands themselves? or a wedge and a tap on that? I dont want to dent my barrel but i guess its worth a shot
It’s steel if you have to hit it that hard it’s not coming off, a just a few gentle taps should make it come loose
@@DevinK Got it! thanks for the tip! The new issue is my magazine body isnt coming out. It looks like theres a pin? should i tap that at all?
555Enclave there shouldn’t be a pin holding it in it probly just needs a few taps
I recently bought a VZ-24. I'm having difficulty getting the front band off. Any advice?
Morgan Gunnell what exactly is wrong. Is the retention spring stuck or is the nose cap itself stuck on
@@DevinK the retention spring pushes in and makes the same click sound as yours. The nose cap seems to be what is stuck.
Morgan Gunnell easy fix yours is just the way it should be just fine something of a softer material then the now cap and tap it off
Can you do a video on the British army cadet helmet mk1 they were ordered by the mod (ministry of defence) to equip the army cadet youth club a club were we learn military skills such as drill weapon handling cleaning combat tactics and all that we do not however have to join the army the helmets themselves fascinate me as instead of just supplying us with mk6s and 7s they purchased a brand new helmet they are relatively cheap on eBay (compared to other current issue helmets) for people who live out of the UK this is quite a strange concept so please check it out
Any reason why this rifle won’t chamber any rounds? The rounds can load into the magazine just fine but the bolt won’t chamber the rounds to fire at all. I have the right ammo too.
Are you sure you have the right rounds this was made in two different rounds
@@DevinK I tried 8mm what is the other round it uses? I never knew it used another round maybe that’s the smoking gun.
@@dg2010ful the vz 24 was also made in 7x57 Mauser
@@DevinK okay I’m gonna give that a shot
@@dg2010ful yeah let me know if that works or not
Thanks for this! Did you ever disassemble the bolt?
I don’t think I have on video yet
Been looking at getting one of these, heard good things. Any major issues I should know about?
VladsCorner it’s a surplus Mauser 98 action not a whole lot to go wrong
If anyone comes across a couple extra of those small screws for the floorplate, I'll buy them. Can't find any online anywhere, and I just realized they were missing off of my "new" rifle!
The screw at the front of the rear sight should be removed before the top handguard comes off.
I'm having a hard time removing the floorplate
Caleb not uncommon for most Mauser styles flower plates to Brett stuck over the years they can be a pain to remove you mighty need to bang on it while pressing the button otherwise try to get some leverage between the trigger guard and the floor plate to pry it over
@@DevinK I was afraid of that. I think i see surface rust that might also be making things challenging. I was able to go over the rest of the gun and it is fine fortunately
Caleb don’t be to worried about hurting or breaking anything the floor plate won’t break for just tapping it off but it’s better then letting that rust keep doing damage
@@DevinK definitely. I'll get to it when I have a second pair of hands to help me
I have a VZ24 with me that is strange as all hell, it has no markings besides two serial numbers, one on the receiver and the bolt, and it doesn't have that odd 2-holed screw on the sling mount, just an average flathead. AAND, it does not have the same front sight, just a non removable open top sight.
Could be one of the commercial South American ones
@@DevinK I'll have to look into that! This barrel band is stubborn as hell, I've been trying to jiggle it off for the past 20 minutes
@@DevinK The small screw behind the trigger guard is loose, bit not coming out, what should I do?
what pants are those buddy?
Dutch jungle pants
Mine doesn't have the groove going along the furniture on the side under the rear sights. Is this a different year maybe or what? Im trying to figure out what year mine is from since it doesnt have it stamped anywhere
Could be a South American contract
Dutch army jungle camo!!!!
Lol went to the store and forgot what you went there to get! Lol Do you smoke bud?
Медведь Медведь it wasn’t the only thing I needed but it was one of the main reasons I went
Devin K. Word, I hear ya man. I’ve been there myself many times. Lol Just being a goof
Also: love the videos, keep up the good work! 👍🏻
