I love this side of RUclips. Everyone soo peaceful and respectful towards each other. And to believe so many people call this philosophy hippy logic.
Better get a hair cut
sonninnos you can‘t move to the Soviet Union anymore.
Are you implying that hippies weren't all peaceful and respectful towards each other?
because they realized we are one via experiencing LSD Zen or whatever
I just bought 2 hits of lsd
Listening to a bunch of these videos to prepare for my LSD trip this Saturday.
SwedburgEEE have fun and be safe my friend :) good journey :)
Be VERY careful whom you buy it from. You can't make it in the bathtub like the ghetto drugs.
SwedburgEEE hey! how did that go for ya? :)
Jennie Narisi probably got n-bome-ed lol
Jennie Narisi absolutely life changing.
These videos are helping my LSD right now thank you everyone’s respectful comments passing good vibes
Blessed vibes
"To say what can never be said" I've heard Mckenna say the same thing!
I believe I have just heard the best of words in my entire life.
possibly my favorite Watts excerpt ever.
I discovered this while taking lsd for the first time ever in my 30 years..... never heard of him till then ......ill never look at life the same way again I've tripped twice now and I feel more enlightened every time
The 4th got me but I learned from it
I'm about to do my first wish me luck boys
Just remember, even if you think you're awake you're not. It's the ego masquerading itself. Keep practicing. Eventually you won't need LSD. When you finally awaken, you can never go back.
Be the hero you want to be inspired by! Those people are no longer here. We are here! We can continue their mission to spread love and expand the consciousness!
Yes. And this is only a section from the entire talk. It's from the Psychedelic Salon #213 podcast. It was removed from iTunes, but you can still get it in the archive. I'll send you the link in a message.
The artist is Alex Grey... one of my favorites.
"Maybe next time around! Ha,ha!" I love to imagine Alan is making music somewhere in this world today.
"Don't shout or the far outs may lose their balance"
Thanks. And yes, Watts has a great sense of humour and his words are very clear and inspiring. Personally, I do not believe that entheogens are needed to achieve mystical states, but can obviously help open the door for those who doubt or gave difficulty getting there.
Alex Grey is the artist. You can find this picture on google images.
Alan Watts literally describes his whole life and purpose in his own quote here, "To say what can never possibly be said."
His life purpose was to drink.
@@skyjuiceification💀
It was a tab of acid after reading Watts' collection of essays, "This Is It" that got me to the Ultimate Reality (now is IT). That was 1971 and it's still IT -- my "self" doesn't end at my skin -- or did I ever even have a Self to begin with?
Nice one! Thanks for posting!
I love you, Mr. Watts, I love you.
The artist on the left is Alex Grey, one of my favorites.
Adam Westbury and you can buy that artwork signed by him for only 60$!
I had an experience a few days ago. I felt the self, where ever I looked, what ever I thought about, even when I closed my eyes. It was absolutely terrifying. I felt that if it continued it would kick start the end of reality, a death so to speak. It was God but it was also me. I couldnt comprehend that fact that I could possibly be it. I'm just a simple man I'm not supposed to know such things. I kept thinking or telling myself "you aren't supposed to learn who you are". The mind of God is vast
what do you think about it now?
6:29 Bodhisattva
7:55 The Big Act
8:14 A real actor
8:43 The Rule of the stage
14:02 Revelation
18:05 Act
Ha ha ha, just brilliant. The last minute or so is comedic genius. :)
After so many requests for the full talk, I posted all the links in the video information. Namaste.
Yes. The full talk is on the intertubes with the title "The Alchemy of LSD"
Is that Alan Watt's face on the top of the circle of the Alex grey painting? because that would be even more awesome!.
kami kaze I see how you can think that. But from looking at the picture on an 55'' screen, I'm going to have to dissapoint you.
Yeah I did. If you want all 3 images together you can press the "print screen" button on your keyboard and it will copy the screen-image and then you can paste it into a photo editing program.
Psilocybin and mescaline are equally (if not more) illuminating, I believe. LSD is so utterly intense. All three open universal doors in your mind. LSD rips open the pod bay and you are catapulted into the cosmos, ready or not, careening end over end. Psilocybin and mescaline are more like magic carpet rides through the cosmos. LSD is a raging machine, the others are much more gentle (though not necessarily as subtle.)
I gotta stop trying to convince people im it! i get it now!
alan at his best
The image on the left is Alex Grey's "Cosmic Christ"
Look it up, it's quite an amazing painting.
bless his heart
i am compable to alex grey, tube rico omegapoint graffiti, tell me what you think
hey, thanks for upload, was wondering where I can get that picture in the video, looks awsome !
Great video! Can I get the link as well? Thanks again for the post LucidMaui. One Love.
i love this!!
Thanks a lot man, cheers!
Anybody else getting a strong Matrix vibe while watching this...? 😮
I am reading this and can't believe my eyes. I had same experience and only thing "God" told next time when you take it you will find out who you are.
At times I didn’t think watts was really an advocate of psychedelic drugs. As time goes on I say Well at least he was a very realistic one. I say He wasn’t like one to say this should be forced on anyone but rather he just saw a lot of people using them and had great social commentary on them. Now I say Ok maybe he was intrigued by psychedelics. Multiple books on the subject but seems he had the most realistic opinion on psychedelics of anyone. I love Terence McKenna and appreciate everything he did but watts is the one guy I would least wanna get into a debate with. He’s got an authority on philosophy and language I just think he’d school anybody in a debate lol. Brilliant man haven’t listened in a while to this happy to be back again great books too 👍 no bull shit from Alan watts.
I added all the links in the video information. Alan's son was going to sue Lorenzo from the psychedelic salon if he didn't remove it from itunes. Personally, I've heard Alan Watts speaking for well-over 100 hours. I've downloaded everything the net has to offer, which is why I wanted to showcase this smaller section of the talk about LSD and I purposely ended it on his awesome zen/hindu joke. The talk starts out as most of his lecture do, it's very good, and it goes a bit longer than this clip.
BTW, Alan Watts figures several times in this book. I think it's pretty funny. It's about the estate where Tim Leary and others were allowed to stay for some years in the sixties. A quote: "Unfortunately, although my appreciation for Watts as a critic of
conventional religion is undimmed, my admiration for his
philosophic efforts did not survive my Enlightenment, and even at the
time of which I speak, I could not work up much enthusiasm for his
point of view. He was, I think, essentially a pacifier, a sort of
intellectual male nurse, a calmer of the troubled waters. Nothing
wrong with that, of course.
Watts, although he rarely mentioned his intellectual ancestors,
belongs to the class of Transcendentalist philosophers who, with an
Emersonian disdain for logic and consistency, never question the
plurality of minds but ignore or evade the contradictions posed
thereby to their central belief in a (benign) "oversoul," or, as I prefer
to derisively refer to it, the Giant Brain. Although some of them are
first rate poets and essayists, Giant Brainers do not amount to much
as philosophers, but are not so low on my personal moral totem pole
as those philosophers and psychologists so gutless as to refuse to try
the Higher Sacrament. The latter are in the same class as the mental
midgets of Galileo's day who refused to look through his telescope.
But Watts, philosophical infantilism aside, was a great
conversationalist, a great gossip, a great drinking companion, and a
gentleman of the old school. As soon he established that I was literate
he warned me he would "steal" anything I said worth "stealing."
I told him to help himself, and we had a happy, bleary, gossipy
evening which ended in my meeting the Newton contingent: good
heads to the man, but pale, I thought, in comparison to the Mighty of
Millbrook, whom I was beginning to think of as virtual demi-gods
occupying a world apart, around some trick corner in a magic mirror
of my mind.
Although Alan and I got along well, he didn't approve of my act. He
probably saw, better than I did, the philosophic direction in which I
was headed and knew what kinds of conflicts would inevitably follow
with people of his ilk and Tim's. When I asked him to grace the
rosters of the Neo-American Church with his illustrious name, he
replied: "I don't like your boo hoo title. It sounds like a crybaby to
me."
The stiff upper lip complex at work? I don't know. However frivolous
in private, Watts, in the ancient C of E tradition, favored solemn
fraudulence in public. It was what the market demanded, after all. He
laughed when I suggested that his books were so popular that he
could live, if only modestly, on the income from them. His royalties
didn't pay for his gin. What did pay off were his cruise ship deals
and, of course, the standard forms of lecturing. I would find out for
myself in due time. (I have, but I don't think it is absolutely necessary
for a person with criminal tendencies to sink so low.)
I appreciate the literary and scholarly virtues of Watts and Aldous
Huxley and Joseph Campbell (a very nice and very learned guy who
informed me that he had adopted my Boo Hoo Bible footnote, "If you
think you are getting anywhere, you're on the wrong track" as his
"personal motto"), but I do not belong to the doctrinal congregation
for which they were outstanding 20th Century proselytizers, and I
think Watts saw this right away.
Although heterodox in minor ways, people of this ilk are essentially
Vedantists, Cosmic-Minders, Giant-Brainers or Transcendentalists
and thus dualists, although Allan and Aldous and Joe would probably
reject and resent the label if they were still hanging around and could
read this. Huxley, who dismissed the Zen masters as "unsatisfying,"
and Campbell were virtually humorless, and, when sober, so was
Watts.
When I read the philosophico-religious ruminations of these guys, I
see (so to speak) the somber and shuddery shades of such as
Swedenborg, Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Sartre, and Camus
hovering in the background. Back in the mists a few steps and you
are in the jolly company of such as Dante and St. Augustine and the
early so-called "fathers of the Church" all the way back to St. Paul,
every single one of whom was mad.
Only an idiot can have any fun, so the only way anyone who is not an
idiot can have any fun is to behave like an idiot. The more one
thinks, the less fun one has. "Life Sucks" is the technically correct
bumper sticker.
I prefer, and recommend to one and all, the "Playboy Philosophy" of
Mr. H. Hefner over this kind of shit any day."
wow
None of that made much sense unless it was written in jealousy. Whoever u quoted has issues saying this:-
" I prefer, and recommend to one and all, the "Playboy Philosophy" of
Mr. H. Hefner over this kind of shit any day."
I can't believe I read that pointless shit.
You Sir, need a high dose of psilocybin mushrooms stat.
And for that we the people thank you.
Is this same 20 minute audio clip available somewhere else under a different title?
Removed? Did apple remove it? Why..copyright or due to the subject matter? Also, is all deprecated/removed itunes stuff get archived? Are they private links only known by the original content owner? Thanks.
who is the artist of the picture to the left?
i see a similar function in the chip and plant, logically they both make sense and naturally they both make sense :D
thanks for sharing!
John Doe DMT
where do I find the source of that art? I saw a vision of that orange man once
Please tell me what year this was recorded? Thank you!
hey thanks.. checked out google but couldt find it,, did you put those 3 images together urself ?
i would like this link too please
WOW !....that's all I can say about what you experienced
Why not put a link to the archive in the descriptions?
Psychedelics cause trauma because we are trying to experience other worlds through the human consciousness. This is very taxing on us although, is extremely beneficial for our species.
FACTS!😊
Hey Man can i have the link too , Please .
Could you also send me the link?
is your opinion based on experience? high doses?
HI, could you send me the link as well ? I 'd appreciate it !
Does anyone know where I can find the images in the video?
Thank you LucidMaui
LSD is the absolute greatest thing on this spec of dust, you want to see where the mind go.. go smash some tabs and meditate

I suspect this recording runs a little fast.
very much - thank you :)
There should be a LOVE button on this thing just for A.!
19:55 Real recognize real. ancient knowledge
Watts is great. I however feel he uses the language in a less than perfect way. He says 'pleasure' a lot and is probably referring to enjoyment; pleasure has it's opposite in pain and is thus of the mind/memory and shallow/egotistical. He also says he regrets not being more musical. Who regrets? The person Alan Watts? Is not regret a thing of memory and to be discarded and not confused with the self? Regretting can only happen through thought and the self is beyond the past.
Yes but no one is actually like that. We all have regrets. Not all are consumed by them. He’s being honest and transparent.
Money buys pleasure but not joy.
+GamersInGlassesHd
Money gives you a permission slip, to encourage others to give you something. Most people feel their happiness depends on others, therefore money is a very popular thing.
Dialectical Monist Money is an unnecessary, intermediary step to those feelings.
GamersInGlassesHd Well, it's as necessary as one believes others to be necessary to one's feelings and/or survivability.
Dialectical Monist It is possible, however, that I can be compassionate without the need for money.
ok, thanks
taking the red pill,I might not agree with some of what he says in some stuff, but nice video,I like cool Buddhism. : )
#virginbychoice
no, but I've never heard of one advertising or asking for attention either.
exactly
Namasté 🙏
Enlightenment is discovering that only I exist forever and ever. Alone forever. Are you sure you want to become enlightened?
"Alan Watts speaks about psychedelic substances combined with the art of zen-discipline as a method for awakening." ... no he doesn't... he mentions how that 'method' lacks discipline... i think he may even be suggesting that it is DEFINITELY NOT for ANY person of 'weaker' 'character'...
+etyrnal I believe it is not for any person. It is going to harm a person of a weak character, and it a person of a strong character won't require it.
+Miguel Garcés so then, beliefs are your drug of choice... (double entendre intended)
+Miguel Garcés I wouldn't necessarily use the words strong or weak but get your jist
+Miguel Garcés Understand what your saying mate but the weakest among us are some times the strongest and what a weak or strong character is merely a perception of the individual such as yourself.
Daniel Jones Precisely.
indeed :D could i get it too
When it doesn't matter what you say: a tree is like tree shit in a dogs head
Let me help you get good quality images.......press print screen, open paint, paste, save, go to google.com and go to image search....drag and drop the picture there. Thank me;) namaste
I'm not even going to look. But "congratulations how far out can you get?" 17:33
You wouldn't have to feel the need to even say so if it were even half true.
Who the hell is Chief Keef? I wouldn't know the last 2 people if they knocked on my door and told me and I am proud of it!
The word is thieves.
Be cool, the tragic hero of the stage disciplined to hide themselves will be spooked by themselves. Congrats to all egos, for being so far out…
I like all of these people.. Not so much Leary but yeah. So You shouldn't say that
In my experience people are alot more mature and intelligent in youtube videos including philosophy and or psychedelics. If you want to reach the robots you'll have to visit one of the mercilessly plentiful other channels on youtube. Alan Watts talks could even pass for esoteric wisdom amongst rest of civilization today unfortunately when it should be common knowledge.
the mistake is to say "I'm not divine" because that makes you not divine, you are god, you're it, the truth etc
"too bad maybe next time around."
Maybe this time round 🤞
This was a "prediction".
I imagine those 8 dislikes were despite your comment... haha
logics is the way to progress for humans since we are in search for what we are. but our logics are not enough. a buddha and his caravan will come and go and leave you some LSD, I'm not joking :) but the dharma isn't THE truth, it just tells through logics how IT can be observed. when you use logics to feel good, you also use them to feel bad. so as long as you're in our logic realm you decide for BOTH. I'm currently the antenna but I have no ground
The I doesn't exist forever.
google images: alex grey cosmic christ and fractal plants :)
or maybe your parents told you to sit down and not talk about your creativity. this video is lsd and zen. my piece is directly connected to the subject matter, if you see it you will get it, its a combination of mc escher salvador dali and alex grey, go enjoy it and stop fighting a childish battle, if it is equal to a alex grey it is not bragging, thats the diffrence between appreciating a achievment and ego on parade, you decide,
Okay. This explains Alan watts God complex & deep existential rants. Too much acid. I should have recognised it from my day.
He must be one of the few that didn't end up in the nut house or dead.
Cosmic christ by Alex Grey.
Albert Hofmann
🫶🏼
lol yea. just remember to respect the ignorance as it gives you the contrast needed to be the best you you can be.
Nicki Minaj's first album is great on LSD
I fucking despise the picture on the left. I've seen "trippy" art work like that everywhere. It is complete bullshit in my mind, I would rather try to explain the significance of the ashtray than the significance of a psy-God in the universe. Everyone whose done shrooms/acid knows the psy-God, so why fucking draw him over and over again... ?
for people who haven't seen him perhaps?
good point xx
:) x
fuck me, i thought i would get a negative comment here, greg, u have surprised me
haha no negativity from me :) not on youtube to argue :) just use it to gain knowledge :) i was surprised by your response to :)
hippy logic
Still not interested. See instead of describing your work you continue to compare it to the work of others. Uninteresting. Your ego is on parade friend, for I am not fighting a battle with you, you are clearly fighting yourself.
