Carina Nebula is definitly one of the amazing object to shoot with DSLR, camera lens of 160 ~ 300mm and a star tracker.

How did you guys not mention the Carina Nebula? Not only one of the prettiest but also one of the largest, same for the tarantula Nebula Cant believe these were not mentioned

Cool video guys! I live in the southern hemisphere, and I should definetly recommend the Omega Centauri and 47 Tucanae star clusters.
The great magellanic clouds are beautiful too. Both galaxies are great for short focal length scopes, between 50 mm and 300 mm. The tarantula nebula is very strong in the large magellanic cloud!
Carina Nebula is huge, and very bright! I once saw it from a very dark site, no scopes or binoculars. It just glows in the sky!

it's dry season here in Indonesia, i live in the remote village where there's no light pollution, it's also the first week of Javanese calendar means moon isn't bright yet, so yeah stars view is super clean, now it's 23.00 here when i type this comment, and I'm enjoying Milky way which looked very clearly spread between Sagittarius and the Scorpius tail with my bare eyes, I'm blessed.

Thank you Mack. Really nice video on southern hemisphere targets. I'm from Brazil and M16 is a really cool object and relatively easy to capture too, even from light polluted cities. I'll try some of the other suggestions you gave us.

NGC7293 aka Helix Nebula - really nice target, best imaged at about 800mm I think, because it looked a bit small on my 580mm scope.

g`day OPT good video i appreciate you doing the southern hemisphere in this video we get a bit forgotten as most astro youtubers are from the northern hemisphere ... just a suggestion i think you need to get dylan o'donnell on your sponsored staff he is a smart funny guy with a lot of knowledge that you recognize as you looked to him for guidance on this video.. dustin is a very smart guy and makes smart moves in business this should be a no brainer for him to get dylan on staff ... yes i am a fan of dylan and i love his work but so do a lot of other people around the world ... dylan is a great little aussie battler and deserves your help please consider giving him a helping hand and help OPT in the process
    cheers

Everything right except, you cannot capture NGC6188 with a DSLR unless is modified or with a multi narrow band Filter, is even dificult to capture with OSC dedicated Camera without filters.

Can you do how to polar align is something block Polaris or Polaris is closer to northern hemisphere

We use σ Octantis for southern polar alignment, or the 3 star alignment plugin with N.I.N.A

Carina, Jewel Box, LMC, SMC, Omega Centauri, these were hardly Southern Hemisphere specific targets in this video

Well.. I don't quite understand this video and it makes me believe you never went to the southern hemisphere ? Large and small magellanic clouds, the Carina nebula, indeed the chicken one.. but why mention the eagle nebula, the cat's paw or the planets ? you can see those from the northern hemisphere.. weird

We don’t live on a spinning ball in a near perfect vacuum. If you don’t know the violation of the 2 law of Thermo dynamic and what the hell you’re talking about
