To the Horsebox. Had SIX Daimler Double Sixes? I'm afraid that's SLACKING! The Queen bought Princess Anne a Reliant Scimitar Estate. She liked hers so much - sha bought EIGHT more!
@@nygelmiller5293 Perhaps I should clarify. I currently own one Double Six. My others were a Series One 2.8 six cylinder and four were Series Three 4.2 six cylinder models. I doubt I'll match Princess Anne's tally, as I intend the Double Six to be my last Daimler/Jaguar. Thanks for your post.
To Mark Jones - one of the best ever cars, fantastic engine, interior , and shape. But are you going to make me feel guilty that my all time favourite saloon, even so, is the SILVER SPIRIT?
Fantastic! Thanks for posting this, I saw it first time around and have searched the internet for years trying to find it, it was a great surprise to see one of the participants was David Manners from whom I bought jaguar parts many years later
I miss my Series IIIs (I had two). Have to admit my current X350 XJR is better in almost every way but those mid-80s XJs are something special. I LOVE that Avengers clip!
I remember this programme when it came out. We couldn't watch it as it was on the central I.t.v 1 and we could only get Anglia, unless the weather was in the right direction. The night of transmitian, there was a storm, we never got to watch. Until now. Thank you very much
Kicking against a Jaguars tire ... what an affront. Besides I always thought gardendwarfs were to be living only on our jolly german soil. This is shattering my whole concept of Englishness. ;)
Throughly enjoyed this, thank you for posting. Absolutely spot on the way that marque specific car clubs bring together people from all strata of society. The cocktail hour and dinner reminds me of being at an American RROC event.
I was brought up with all these cars in my life. Wow I wonder where they are now. David manners wow I’ve spent some money with him. XJ40 & XK140 in the current collection
I’ve had 3 XJ6 4.2 one was theXJC 2 door then 2 XJS one a V12 and a3.8 great cars all this modern crap 💩 has no comparison sadly jaguar cars have decided to go all electric cars so that will be the end of jaguar cars
I have a 2000 w reg XJ8. Serviced and looked after by a Jaguar specialist even the mechanics are Jaguar enthusiasts. Many own/drive Jaguars x-type, s- type, xj- s and xj 40. They repair Jaguars with a passion. Their customer rating in my book is full marks. And they don't charge like main dealers.
1.02 The idea of a road car catching a Formula 1 car is ludicrous ( for those who don't realise how fast an F1car is). That was in the late seventies at Silverstone which was 2.932 miles around 1 lap for which an F1 car took 1 minute 12 seconds, an AVERAGE speed for the lap of 142 mph, considerably faster than Steed's Jag could do on a straight autobahn.
@@omarks The car is an F1 March as driven by Ronnie Peterson to win the 1976 Italian Grand Prix at Monza,( F3 cars have never had huge rear tyres like that), a very fast circuit. In 2018 Kimi Raikkonen drove the fastest ever F1 lap to get pole position there covering the 5.7 kilometre lap (3.6 miles) in 1 minute 19.11 seconds AVERAGING 163.78 MPH for the lap.
The chap driving the maroon XJ is David Manners. His firm still helping hundreds of thousands of older Jag motor cars stay on the road to this day.
What a gem. I've had six of these, my all time favorite car. Currently an '88 Daimler Double Six. Nothing like these cars.

@@nygelmiller5293 Thank you, friend. Yes, I agree, and I am very fortunate to be the custodian of one.
Excellent trip down memory lane, if only we could go back to the 80's , with some minor adjustments of course!
Many thanks for posting.
Excellent film. This and 'From A to B, tales of modern motoring' are a real slice of English life.
David Manners, the legend 👌
Just emotional vehicle
Nostalgia at its best
Best saloon car ever made .

I really enjoyed the video, a wonderful time capsule.
Jaguar always remind me of the Sweeney and Minder😄

Excellent documentary with a certain humor about this wonderful "Youngtimer" cars over the world...

Really loved watching that - from 1986 made by my local Central TV in the Midlands. I thought that was Megan Markle in the thumbnail!
Please. Jaguar is a classy brand. Meghan markle is an ex Deal or No Deal box opener girl. 😮

The dude with the valves business .I bet he ploughed his secretary a right few times on that back seat .
Love my 1987 Series 3 XJ6 (1987 was the last year for the Series 3 in the U.S.) in Solent Blue, even if the gear selector is currently out of sorts 😅.
Interesting stories of the different background of people who had 1 thing in common... Their Jaguar cars
To biroldjoshan.
That's what's nice about people's cars, they all like the same things!

The real anger is banger racers are still killing good cars today with their banter excuses.

Brilliant 👍🏆🇬🇧

Crap for the ages!
MR Burns was too cheap to buy the Sovereign spec XJ6.
"If you've got an English car you'll have a much better service". Hmm. Probably helps if you buy a brand new one every year too.

So sad to see what has become of this brand the last 15 years. Ian Callums design language turned them into Hondas
Agreed, completely stripped them of what made them Jaguars
😺
As a lover of jaguar….. I sold my xj8. The fit a finish of the car was poor. The engine was fabulous though. I went back to Mercedes….glad I did.

Come on Andy, it's the Avengers, a TV fantasy show and this was a joke. Besides, it's a formula 3 car. Great film thx for upload

Its absurd and hilarious...British humor. I love the part where they show the coupe leaning over in a turn... Lol
@@andyelliott8027 I stand corrected. I have a 76 XJC project car and have watched this clip many times, I love it, it's hilarious
David Manners is one of the stars, you can buy spares from him today.
Sorry not a good video, pity it wasn't a better quality
It was a shot nearly 40 years ago, for 4:3 tv screens, so what do you expect???
