Servicing a rough idle and rough drive car yesterday. Fault on injector 1 was on and the power balance showed cylinder 1 was stealing from cylinder 4. Quite intense!
first and foremost thanks for making this video I too was thinking of showing special features of my scan tool so the people could see what they can do. i have a launch x431 pro3s+ and it has less submodels of cars to go through due to vin id but that does not make it the end all be all as i said before showing these slecial functions on different cars with different tools can help consumers get the scan tool that best for them. as different tools cant access the same functions keep those videos coming.
I just received my D7…I look forward to when you work on a Ram Promaster 2500 cargo van with a 62TE transmission and Pentastar 3.6L V6. I’m figuring out the benefits of this scanner with my van. Thanks
I wished you would've shown more....my understanding was this was originally an option for Ford scan tools, as a way of getting the engine to turn off fuel and basically do a relative compression test, so you can see how the rest of the cylinders compare or "balance" to each other????
I explained what cylinder Power Balance test is and how to conduct the test and how to watch for the results by noticing a drop in RPM. What more were you looking for? I'm not sure there's any more to a cylinder Power Balance test then what I accurately described in the video.
It will only tell you the hole that is dead. you have to find out why its that way. It keeps you from knocking the crap out of yourself by pulling plug wires.
@@johnyM128 Are you saying it's good to run the fuel pump before trying to start the vehicle? If so I would not Have thought to do That But it is an interesting idea. If The fuel pump is controlled by the vehicle's computer then yes the scan tool could trigger it
@@mrdiyguy123 for commonrail its important after fuel filter to get away Air from system. IF there is Air it could damage high pressure fuel pump. With vcds i can activate fuel pump. On a30m iam not súre maybe with active test...
Hi there. The cylinder balance test shuts off either the coil or injector or both. I am not sure which. I have not found a test that is labelled injector or coil test sorry.

My question is does it go by firing order as far as identifying the correct cylinder.
No my assumption is it would go by the numbering of the cylinders not by firing order.

What about adjusting cooling fan temp turn on? Can that be changed with tool?
Not sure. i haven't come across that setting.

Ok, what does balance test mean? I can pull a plug boot to kill cylinder, balance should mean some type of comparison of fuel or spark?

You would have to consult Xtools support page to see the supported vehicle list. In a short answer "most"

So far my Xtool doesn't like Mercedes and didn't pay them for rights. Thus hardly any functionality
