  • There is a legend about the Seven Wise Men of Greece that was narrated by Socrates and Diogenes Laertius. Before the era of the early pre-Socratic philosophers, there were figures known as sages, who were not yet considered philosophers, but who were referenced and taken as examples of wisdom by many later Greek philosophers. The so-called Seven Wise Men of Ancient Greece are: Thales of Miletus, Solon of Athens, Bias of Priene, Pittacus of Mytilene, Cleobulus of Lindos, Chilon of Sparta and Periander of Corinth.
