Actually, in the comics, Cyborg recieved more discrimination for being part robot than he did being black. Every time someone would look at him they'd see his mechanical side more than his colored side and would view him like he was a freak or monster. Plus, personally, I think the writers made a good choice going for the robot part because it shows that racism exceeds farther than just skin color.
If I was writing I would have him just say “yeah I have...” and leave it to viewer interpretation. Feel the robot part while consistent does sound silly out loud but saying “cause he’s black.” While powerful on the surface, feel it kinda how do I say, make it be stereotypical in a sense to some or on the noise. I’m pretty mixed on it, which is why i would go for the ambiguous answer. It’s a landmine topic to write for to say the least.
