Before anybody says the aquarium is too small it’s got plenty of room

Does your yellow wrasse ever try to jump? People always say they need a tight lid but most videos of tanks that I see with wrasses don’t actually have lids. I’m wanting to add a wrasse but don’t have a lid yet

I have heard the advice to always have a lid on tanks with a wrasses too. So I do have a lid kept on most of the time. But when I am home for the day, I take the lid out so I can do my manual dosing and feeding easier.
I observe my tank a lot, and the inhabitants are coexisting very peacefully now, so the chances of it jumping out are really low. It is a risk I dare to take. But may not be the same even with a similar tank with the same fishes. And it may also change as the fish get bigger so I do monitor this closely. You have to be familiar with the aggression levels in your tank and if you are willing to take the risk.

I lost my coris wrasse that way. They are definitely jumpers.

This is my first tang so I can’t offer any advice from experience, but maybe put some empty pipes for hiding places so the tang feels safer, then keep trying a mix of foods. I heard garlic entices their appetite as well so you could read up on how to use that (I have not needed to so far). Hope your tang is doing better now!

25 gallons. I have repurposed this tank and moved my fish to a new tank since then.

Sorry I saw your message so late. I’m not an expert and it’s best to ask reefers around you who can understand your tank setup and better diagnose any issues. Or it could just be nature unwilling to bend to our wishes :’)

are you keeping tang in that tank permanently, not to rain on your parade, I have the same tank and I am just curious

I’ve got a 4 feet tank paid for and on the way so it’ll be getting more than double that size in swimming space soon. However it’s currently getting along well with its tank mates and there hasn’t been and pacing along the glass or frantic swimming or signs of aggression at all. I think while they are still juveniles, this size is adequate. Also I was hoping that being captive bred, this tang would take more kindly to a small water volume. Well… so far so good haha. I’m keeping a close eye on it.

Probably the yellow head jawfish from a Caribbean Sea shipment. It’s a family favourite with his funky cave building personality 😂
