It's not just MPs who are threatened. But they don't seem to care about the safety of the rest of the people, it takes them being threatened, before they act. As usual.
If they had not allowed this country to get out of control by an incoming force that nobody except they wanted, and that we have to pay for, MPs would not be in the kind of danger that the rest of us are. Who tells the police not to arrest the people calling for jihad? We have a schoolteacher from Batley in hiding with his family. It's about time MPs get what they dish out to the rest of us - or else get off their sit-upons and do something.

I for one welcomed the elevation of Lindsay Hoyle to Speaker as I'd had enough of the Berkow show with his partisan approach to stopping the government of the day doing anything he didn't like. Sir Lindsay promised not to be Berkow. He let the Labour whips push him around into breaking precedent to suit them as they knew they had a major split in their party about to be exposed for all to see. Such a split that may well have seen the downfall of Starmer.
Instead, out of his inability to stand up to them & for the precedents which he promised to uphold (even after a warning from the clerk of the house) he's saved Starmer's bacon at the cost of his own. He will I'm afraid have to stand down. This is unaccaptable behavior from a supposed independent speaker - looking after his former party...

    • @LordBlagger
      @LordBlagger 9 месяцев назад

Exactly. They are scared of the terrorists that they have allowed into the UK.
Now they discover what its like for the peasants, and to a certain extent my view is serves them right.
      It's a tough lesson.
It's also very easy to fix. Just a simple change to the tax code solves the initial problem. Minimum £38,500 tax code.
Second a list of safe countries. No asylum from safe countries. Countries that move from dangerous to safe, then you get a grace period, and you're tax code changes. If you can afford to stay, no problem. If you can't you have to leave.
And no recourse to public funds for migrants. ie. No housing benefit, welfare of any sort.
Economic migrants will make their own mind up.

So they didn’t wanna talk about immigration
They didn’t want to talk about cost of living?
They didn’t wanna talk about Islamists
Didn’t they didn’t want to talk about the housing crisis?
Didn’t wanna talk about the recession?
They didn’t want to talk about the police
They wanted to talk about countries that I’ve been fighting for years as if they would be able to do something about it, 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦‍♂️😡

I quite like old Speaker Long Face though, especially when he goes beetroot coloured purple yelling at an 'honourable member' to 'Shut oop'! in his broad Lancashire accent.

The demonstrators outside the UK Parliament are 'cowards', because if they were brave, they would be in the part of the world they are protesting about, living their dislocation,. Yet this does not shock or worry me as cowards, however intimidating, are cowards, as all bullies are. What I'm shocked and worried for is our UK democracy. Our voted MP representatives, for the first time in the history of the Mother of all parliaments, claim fear, or use fear as reasoning for what happened in Parliament effecting a vote. That would mean the UK parliament has become cowardly, yet that is not true, as most MP's and Government Ministers are brave. Then surely it can only mean one thing, if not cowardly, which is subversion took place. Subversion of UK democracy, which in old wording is treason, which is the only other explanation of certain individuals reported actions. The Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of the Opposition and a few others directly involved in this subversion, need to resign or be removed for the integrity of our sovereignty as a nation. All in the UK should have the freedom of expression, regardless of agreeing or disagreeing, with views expressed, especially our MP's inside Parliament. This was as sad a day in the UK, as was the storming of the United States Capitol attack in the USA. Labour has permanently lost my vote forever.

the demonstrators were there to put pressure on parliament for a ceasefire - to end the slaughtering of civilians . Not cowards but people who feel deeply stricken with what is unfolding and want something done about it .Protest is important for all sides of the political field

People blame Starmer but all leaders try to use the speaker. It falls down to the speaker to do the right thing. If a manager suggests I spend the budget on his team and it’s not the right decision, it’s still my fault if I do it. Of course Starmer will look out for Labour interests.
