      Yess! All the used bookstores in my area only take rare books. I was donating my paperbacks to organization that distributed books to people in prison for awhile but theyre not accepting anything at the moment. We dont have places like 2nd & Charles or Books a Million. Something like Pango would do a killing in Canada.

      @@Lemonade_Stand_ What city are you in? Plenty of book stores accept normal books.
      The only limitation for Pango in Canada would be the high cost of shipping.

    • @Lemonade_Stand_

      @@stevedavenport1202 i'm in Vancouver. Most used bookstores around me only take collectables and hard to find stuff. It's fine though ive just been putting them in little free libraries around my home. I have sold a few series sets on poshmark but it's not worth selling single books for me.
      Ya the shipping would be hard with Canada Post because theyre a rip off. Poshmark partnered with Purolator for a very short time and the shipping was much cheaper but they went back to Canada Post because Purolator doesnt ship to PO Boxes or rural addresses.

    I buy so many books from Pango. They are really great. I had one seller not send out my book after buying. At the 10 day mark they refunded my money, no issue.

    I’m definitely looking into Pangobooks. I’ve sold things on eBay but yeah it’s changed so much. Plus I love that you’re selling to a true bookish community. Thanks for this!

    Lol, I joined PangoBooks 2 days ago, found you on there and bought a book from you yesterday, and then you dropped this video today. I feel like there’s some synchronicity in there somewhere! I had no idea your store was so new! I was just randomly checking to see if I could find some of my favorite booktube channels. I’m loving Pango so far. I sold three books the first night I posted books. Admittedly they were totally gimme sales. I d been trying to complete my B&N editions of the Folk of the Air series for a while but they’re priced ridiculously high. So I thought I’d make someone’s day and list the ones I have at reasonable prices since I have them in the regular covers too. Someone was super nice and tried to let me know I was severely under pricing them and we chatted for a little while. Very friendly!

    My experience with Pango has been great so far. The post office lost my book in transit and they compensated me and the seller. You can find a lot of books for cheap.

    I love Pangobooks! I have been buying and selling on it for over a year! I was introduced to it by Starlah who is no longer on RUclips and decided to buy when Amazon is too expensive and sell the books I no longer what or am interested in. My mom will even give me books to sell and let me keep the money.
    People on Pango are nice. There's also a button or setting to say that you are away temporarily like if you're on vacation. I meant to do that last year and forgot and when I was midway through my vacation got a notification I sold a book. I was upset with myself for forgetting and I immediately messaged the buyer, apologizing. I asked if they still wanted the book and told them when I was going to ship it out. They told me not to worry and to enjoy my vacation and they still wanted the book. I was impressed with the buyer. Just love the community overall and how easy the app is. I have wishlisted two books so far, hoping to buy from your shop soon.
    Also, yes, I do thank you notes and add bookmarks when sending out books. If I could I would do stickers, but I like the added touch of a bookmark. Enjoy this app!

    I haven't used Pango books yet, but I may start soon because it looks great! Just first impressions, I think they should have a feature where you can sell multiple books at once (say a full series, or a few mass market fantasy books together). That might be one spot where Ebay has it beat, because I do like buying or selling lots of books at once. I suppose I could comb through a sellers page for each separate book I want, but sometimes the thrill of "this lot has five books I've been looking for and five books that I have no idea about" is hard to resist.
    I'd also be interested to see if they have any kind of comic book market on there, because I could see myself getting absorbed in that.

    Loved this! I have been curious about doing to this but also hate going to the post office just to ship books to my friends 😅
    One probably obvious question I did have was if the shipping cost is all on the consumer or also you as the seller? And where do you buy your packaging material from and how much do you think that costs you per book??

    • @BeautifullyBookishBethany
      @BeautifullyBookishBethany  Год назад +3

      It's pretty cool! You can choose to offer free shipping, but otherwise the consumer pays it. I'm currently covering shipping for orders over $50 but since it's media mail it's not a huge amount. Packaging material I get from Staples or re-use boxes I've gotten in the mail. If I get them on sale, padded envelopes and boxes are costing me $1-2 on average, depending on size. Packing paper and tissue paper is probably like 30 to 50 cents per order.

    This was such a fun video to watch! It also goes to show you how something "simple" can actually require a lot of work too so fair play to you for while doing all of this, also making a video out of it. Like it would be really meta if you made a video on the background of making this video if that makes sense? Haha 😂😅

    Questions! What do you use to package the larger books? Where do you buy the padded envelopes? What size envelope is the most useful? Thanks!

    • @BeautifullyBookishBethany
      @BeautifullyBookishBethany  Год назад +1

      Good question! I've got boxes and packing paper, different size envelopes work for different books. I buy them at Staples but probably any office supply store would have them.

    That's so awesome! I'm a casual seller on poshmark and lots of sellers have invest in a label printer and background. That might be useful for someone like yourself who goes through large volumes of books. Can you upload pics that are already in your camera roll or does it have to be photo taken with the pango app? It might be easier to take all the pics first and then uploading and filling in the descriptions after.

      That's a good thought! You can actually upload pics, though then you have to scroll through to find them all. I have thought about the label printer thing, I'll have to look into it.

    I have a question about shipping. If the shipping price listed by the seller is actually more than it cost to ship the book, does that go to Pango or the seller? I’ve seen books listed for super cheap but with not so cheap shipping. So I’m just wondering how that works. Ie if seller lists shipping at $3.99 but it actually only cost $2.99 to ship it, where does the other dollar go?

      In the app, it will show your sold books under "my sold books" click on that and you will see a tab called "print my shipping label" Just click on it and you will be prompted to print the shipping label.
