I think what it REALLY is, is that he called Kendrick's discography into question. That one line from Cole had all his fans calling TPAB wack, and he KNOWS how important that album is to himself and the culture. He shoulda never begged somebody to test him if he wasn't ready for the consequences.
As a cole fan(hes in my top 5 of all time) defending the third place allegations is gonna be near impossible now. Should've just stuck to making banger albums like 4yeo and 2014 fhd

A lot of wise people who felt they understood Cole said he wouldn't respond because his personality wasn't like that. I was surprised like they were when Cole did respond but not that surprised that he took it back. I won't call him soft because it takes a whole lot more bravery to open himself up to the kind of scrutiny he was going to get for this apology. I'm just surprised he fell into the pressure to respond in the first place.
That’s fair! Cole always came off as a guy who didn’t bend to peer pressure but to poke someone, have them respond, you respond and the back out so quickly is the wildest turn of events possible. I just wanna know when did he become so fickle.

If it doesn’t apply to you then I wasn’t talking about you. It’s disingenuous to act as if most people share your sentiment when there are droves of people who picked a side preemptively. People were/are saying that Cole is TRASH and their only reason for saying that is because he’s in direct competition with Kendrick. The majority of Kendrick fans would never admit it if Cole dropped a great diss. The majority of Cole fans would never admit that Kendrick has better albums than Cole. The world is largely “bipartisan” and tribal by nature. Also whose opinion did I dismiss?
I really don't understand all the hate for j Cole right now. He backed out and I think the reason why he back does cuz he realized the song as a disc really wasn't that good like it was decent at best! And that's all as a song. It's great but as an actual diss track it's pretty bad and I don't even think this is enough to take him out of the big three cuz at the end of the day Drake has done far worse and for some reason he's still considered to be in the big three and what makes it even 10 times worse. It's that Drake has sat there radio silent and j Cole actually responded to shots that were taken at him but those shots were not even remotely as big as the ones Kendrick took at Drake. But for some reason, nobody's talking about how Drake is literally letting his homeboy take the hit for him. The same guy who actually stood up for himself. Drake hasn't said one word, but for some reason we're all talking about j. Cole and I'm not even saying this as an extreme j Cole fan because I just got into j. Cole and his music and it's pretty good, but I'm still baffled by the fact that nobody's talking about Drake that's this was primarily focused on him and he didn't say one thing about it
This is just sayin what it is no one hates him. Cole took himself out the big 3. He dissed Kendrick two times before his last diss track. J Cole repeatedly said he was the best rapper and no one could touch him in bars. Drake is in the big 3 for an entirely different reason than Cole, his appeal is commercial. Drake hasn’t released his track nor has he said he won’t , so that’s up in the air. Cole is responsible for his own actions why we talking about Drake other than to deflect.
I'm not even trying to make it seem like I'm coming at you or anything. I'm just saying in a general sense it really doesn't make sense for to me because this is one thing that happened. Drake has lost to Kendrick when it comes to them going back and forth a bunch of times but for some reason he ain't kicked out and I understand him saying he's the best rapper and stuff. But at the end of the day literally everybody says it. I just think people taking more seriously with j Cole cuz they see why he consider himself the best rapper and even with this I still don't see how he should be kicked out considering the fact that What they're doing is more like battle rap. They're going back and forth this in each other on a track specifically made for one another and a general sense. Yeah, it still had to give it to Cole. He has better bars than Kendrick a lot of the time (That's not to say Kendrick's bad or mediocre. I just think j. Cole is usually better) But now we know what j Cole's limits are. It's just not good at battle rapping and I heard something like Kendrick actually came up from battle rapping so I mean like it makes since and the whole entire point of me bringing up Drake is because the vast majority of those dishes were directed at Drake, but for some weird reason we're all talking about j. Cole, when Kendrick through a couple this is at him and Drake hasn't said anything and he hasn't even done anything just in general and it's been like what 3 weeks at least. J.
