Johnny Depp Doesn’t Think He’s Responsible for Ex-Lawyer’s Comments
Johnny Depp’s legal team has filed detailed paperwork appealing a jury’s decision to side with his ex-wife Amber Heard in one of her defamation claims against him. His November 2 appeal follows his win in the made-for-tabloids six-week trial, where he walked away with $10 million, five times what Heard was awarded. Depp and his team have decided to fight the one point of her counterclaim that the jury did side with. News of the appeal comes amid a bizarre announcement (and a reputational win) for Depp. Vulture confirmed reports that he will make an appearance in Rihanna’s fourth Savage X Fenty fashion show, out November 9.
Depp’s lawsuit was over Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed; jurors also had to weigh whether a headline and two statements she wrote were defamatory. They found all three to be defamatory. Heard’s counterclaim alleged that ex-Depp lawyer Adam Waldman made defamatory comments about her in a handful of Daily Mail articles. The jury agreed that an April 27, 2020, statement from Waldman was defamatory. They gave Heard $2 million over this Waldman comment.

I fully agree with your words. As a DV survivor myself I know how good it feels to be free and how afterwards you really start to realise how soul destroying it was.
I had been silently suffering emotional abuse from my partner of 10 years. She destroyed me as a person and I reached a point where I just accepted that it would be my fate to be miserable and under her power for the rest of my life.
Andy, Johnny's situation and your coverage of it opened up my eyes to what that abuse really meant to me, and that I didn't need to accept it any more.
It led to the end of that relationship and my freedom, which I'm so grateful for.
You've literally changed my life for the better.

Funny how no one is surprised that Johnny was so genuine, humble and kind to these strangers that had supported him through his trial. That sincere kindness is the reason we all love and support him!!!! I'm so happy for you all!!!
I cried everyday in the shower remembering 20 years of my abuse while watching the trial and how his abuse was finally being made public and reaching a just outcome. DV victims all have different experiences but all have suffered. Johnny's victory was my victory.
You know what impresses me the most about Mr Depp...that fact that his Mother was very cruel towards him , yet he still showed her respect and kindness.
He even honoured her by taking his children to visit their Grandmother before she passed
This tells me everything i need to know about Mr Depp . He has taught us all that being genuine, kind and grateful for the things that are truly important in life.... not riches or wealth that money can buy.... but the riches that can't be brought that come from within.
My mom did this with her dad. I didn't even know how bad he had been to her or her siblings until a couple years ago, after she had been taking care of him when he had started to decline (she was the only one of his children to step up to help him - I didn't realize until then why). Other than a couple years when I was younger, she never failed to make sure that I had a relationship with him, and she and I made sure that my son had a good relationship with him and with his wife (my grandma had passed away in the mid-90s, they had divorced when my mom was really young). He was a wonderful grandpa. I hate that he was such a crappy father. 💔 My mom did a wonderful job with him.

I think in part Johnny was amazed. He did not go into this thinking that he was going to receive all of this support. He was astounded. He really brought so many people together, so many of us communicating and on his side. It was unbelievable.

i recall the first few days of the trial he looked really depressed and sad and as the trial went on... Depp changed. I hope he read all the support online and it helped him carry through. You could totally see the change in him.
Johnny is the first celebrity that I actually cared about. Just hearing all the testimony from all his friends and employees over the years was amazing. Then watching his various videos of him spending a lot of quality time with children of all backgrounds.
Same here. I wasn’t a really big fan or anything but of course I admired his work. But I don’t like celebrity stuff, I don’t watch movies or tv. So I’m never in the loop with this stuff. I caught the started watching the trial on TUG’s channel as I had seen his content before. Then I became immersed in it. It was easy to see she was lying and I wanted so desperately for the jurors to see what I was seeing as well. Thank god they did. I don’t think I’ll ever become more involved in any other celebrity trial etc. because I don’t think many other celebrities are as wholesome as jd. I wish him and his children all the best and lots of love. Thankful the truth came out.

As a DV survivor watching the trial unfold I was so saddened at the abuse that he took from the media and people that he had worked with for years turning their backs on him. He was victimized again.
I almost lost my life to a person that claimed they loved me.
I am so proud that JD stood up and showed the world the truth.

I'm crying because Johnny teached me so much I didn't understand before (childhood and marriage)😭 I thank Johnny with all my heart, because of him now I know, that I went through so much pain not because I deserved it! I was a loving child and later a loving wife and mother, but I was badly abused and it made me sick (panic attacks, depressions).

Cause she taught she had all the tapes and her lawyers edited it. And she got caught when johhny lawyers said play the whole thing .she got caught. Especially when she faked that he was pushing her, hitting her pointing at her body. She got caught, and to try for her lawyers to use this.

The truth will prevail. 💗 It’s awful he had to endure all of that, and it’s easy to say this as an outsider, but look at the end result, how the whole fiasco only exposed what a lovely, lovely human being he is, how down to earth and humble he is. He is even more loved now as a human being than simply as a celebrity, or the characters he’s played on screen. It’s sad he had to expose so much personal, private details of his life. But with that exposure, his beauty was seen. He owned his faults, took responsibility, and he was respected even more for that. What I loved was to hear him talk with same stutter and slow speech pattern in the trial. The haters were saying he was acting during the trial to garner sympathy but this proves that he was being genuine through the whole trial.

I think we all knew deep down this was gonna happen, it's just part of fighting the good fight, and everyone involved who supported him and this channel are good people. This meeting and recognition and gratitude was inevitable. ❤️

I was there with you guys and it's so nice to know you Andy got the acknowledgedment you so deserve. I ve battled cancer twice and my bucket list was first to see Elvis and I did twice .My next was I hoped to either meet or see Johnny and I at least got to see him. Now my bucket list is complete ✅

What a father, friend and all out, wonderful man! I loved seeing you all with Johnny, his heart, mind and soul is so transparent. This is a man of excellent character, warm, loving, kind & respectful! Just listening to Johnny in the courtroom, told me all I had to know about him. Intelligent, sensitive, intuitive, patient, loving and kind!
I'm so proud of him, y'all, Laura, etc. and so happy for you! I hope he knew who Emily D. Baker was because I watched the ENTIRE trial with her and she was quintessential in sooooo many of us understanding the trial and what was going on. He is such an amazing human.

Hell yeah! RUclipsrs and the rest of us that follow all your work and survivors of DV do have a big part in our hearts for this whole project. It is like unbelievable that these abusers think they can get away with the abuse and lies. It is so good for all the survivors to see someone actually get justice. He is a celebrity and we all love him but also there are so many of us that are not able to get justice and we care for him but we care also for our own strength through the pain.
This is so beautiful to see both Andy & Laura meet Johnny, he truly is such an inspiration & so humble & organic, I'm really stoked for you both. Then for him to say "hi" to fellow Brit Steff, Kim & Louis is phenomenal!! I love that he spoke with a Yorkshire accent, he really is amazing. Thanks Johnny for sending us all a thank you message too, love you right back & so glad you got to tell your truth.

JD has meant so much to so many of us, especially to me. I live with anxiety and depression and Johnny and his work is what gets me through the tough days. He has made me laugh, cry, and feel inspired through his films, art, and music giving me a joy that I could never thank him enough for. It is your work Andy, Steph, Luis, Laura, and other creators along with the support of the community that helped him win so I can't thank you all enough too. So happy you had a great experience. I really did almost get to go, but I'll be thinking of you all when I'm in Vegas this weekend. Maybe next time I can meet you all. *What J.D. suffered was horrendous.... I have to use that word because if it wasn't bad enough to have "Survived the AB", her lies and plans of wickedness carried on years after. For me to survive AB, then to be called an AB would have "UTTERLY DESTROYED ME"...Thank goodness he had the strength and "resources" to fight!!!* We love you J.D. I pray that you really can put it all behind you and live your best life!!!
