What's not been mentioned is that her biggest rivals for the medals are also her Russian teammates who train under the same coach. Its very likely the other 2 also dope, so having no medal ceremony for all of them is a bit of karmic justice.
Probably because it’s very likely the other two podium spots will go to Trusova and Scherbakova and thus Russia will have a clean sweep of the medals, and because of the current controversy and the already instated ban of Russia from the Olympics, in addition to the fact that the above listed Russian skaters along with the Valiyeva are all coached by Eteri, I’m guessing the IOC is doing what they can to exact some sort of punishment on Russia.
To begin with, understand the essence of the issue before accusing the Russian figure skater! The samples were taken on December 25, and only on February 8 they were "unexpectedly" made public! Firstly, we are talking about a drug that stimulates the heart muscle, and secondly, why did they deliberately delay the publication of the facts of the discovery of a certain substance in Valieva's blood? thirdly, even if we assume that it was "real doping", he could not influence the results of the Olympics in any way! All this looks like a big provocation, because the Americans are in second place (who could get a gold medal if Russia were stripped of medals), and the whole world knows that the United States is a big world adventurer...
This is not a punishment. Rather an inconvenience/compromise to respect Kamila's right of defense. First she has to fight for her medal, and then the lawyers will do.
@@alexxela9502 If the results had not been slow walked, this girl would not have qualified to be on the roster. She was drugged to stimulate her training, and therefore give her an advantage. And we would not be having this conversation because she would not even be here. Her presence in these games is an affront to all athletes that play by the rules.
Disaster. My heart breaks for the athletes who play by the rules, and for a 15 year old who was supposed to be guided and protected by trustworthy adults, and was not.

Poor Yuna Kim, another one who knows that no one talks about her anymore, a skater who wouldn't even have a place on Russia's C team. Valieva is by far the best skater in history.
Romanian here, there is a big difference in Raducanu case. She was clearly doping, she later said it herself and Mucinex is a doping drug. However in this case the results were actually not positive, but false positive because the drug she used is not really a doping drug , it gets flushed in 2 days and doesn't provide benefits after that. So unless she took it the day she competes, the drug she took is absolutely useless. People should look more at the science in this and based their decisions on that rather than politics. There is high controversy about Trimetazidine and other drugs that "could" have doping effect but are prescribed because of heart conditions. The point is, there needs to be serious discussion about what are doping drugs and what are not. Since Trimetazidine can't provide any benefits on the long term and it was used for a medical condition the comittie was right to allow her to practice. When a minor is competing at international level with all ages, should follow the same rules like others, if the Russian skater violated the rules, she should be disqualified to compete. If it’s on the list, you can’t take it. Too bad. Some people advocate removing all restrictions on PEDs. One problem is that there will be long term detrimental effects on the athlete’s health.

She was tested clean just before the Olympics, before EC. And all the other times before that 25 december test. Obviously US media prefers to dish it this way, without saying all the other details, that the substance was in micro quantities, that it does not affect sports results, etc. So they insist that all these poor other athletes are somehow disadvantaged. Well said. 100%. As every ice skater has pointed out, there isn't a drug in the world that can enable you to perform a quad, but those 3 Russians (the Quad Squad) are SO far technically above the rest of the field that it's embarrassing. Hell, most of the men can't perform quads.
the decisions affecting her acceptability in the current competition weren't taken by the US media. She should not have been allowed to compete because of prior doping period - it is a rule that has existed from before this incident and that is constantly being flaunted by the RU teams and the IOC has been bending in all sorts of ways to not fully enforce because - "Russia". As for the quantity of banned substances and whether it affects performance - again this is an issue related to the IOC and its rules - where it draws the line; ain't got nothing with the media - US or otherwise, or our non-informed youtube opinions. Her age matters in terms of her capacity to give informed consent and full understanding of consequences. As female and at that age and in that national environment I doubt there's much of either. She's clearly talented and wants to compete; can't imagine the pressures she's been under to navigate the politics of all this when all she wants most likely is to skate and be the best at this sport. Thomas Bach's remarks are the pinnacle of hypocrisy. In this season, Kamila's doping test results were clean at four international competitions, but only the test for the Russian national competition showed polluted result. Therefore, this case required a thorough investigation and verification, but there was not enough time. As CAS rejected IOC's indictment to ban Kamila's participation in individual competition, the IOC should have announced that IOC would normally award medals for the results of the game, but that medal and record could be deprived if Kamila did intentional doping. The IOC's shocking announcement "If Kamila stands on podium, medal award ceremony would be canceled" must have acted as tons of pressure on Kamila, And this IOC's Threat made her step down from the podium by herself. As a result, the IOC brutally threatened a young girl under the age of 16 to take the bronze medal from Russia and give it to Japan. Furthermore this ultimately made it impossible to watch Kamila's performance in full of heavenly and mysterious beauty, which all figure fans around the world wanted to see. The IOC should take the greatest responsibility for this!

This is the craziest ruling I've ever heard of. The rule should be simple, if a person cheats, they get disqualified, and everyone who didn't cheat competes. If you want to allow her to skate, and even to get an unofficial score for it, fine. Then later if it turns out that the test was wrong, or whatever, fine, send her a gold medal.
Well, this is exactly what the CAS is doing tho. Notice that this is not about her doping, this is about her eligibility on the later portion of the game, an investigation is going to be carry out as to the circumstance of her positive test. If she win here today (the event is today) she may have to hand back to medal if the later investigation into her positive test suggest she dope. And not being spike or the lab made a mistake. It is not as you suppose. Your logic is not correct. At least if you have gone through High School you will have studied Human Rights declared in the UN. Basic article 10 and 11, and the Declaration of Children's Rights. Where it says that all children must be protected and that a child is anyone who is under 16 years of age. Kamila in the test at the European Games 2022 was negative. In the test before and after the Team Games in Beijing 2022 she tested negative. The positive anti-doping problem occurred in a local game in her country, the test was carried out on December 25, 2021 and the delivery to the laboratory in Stockholm in Sweden is in the indicated time. The answer must arrive from 7 to 10 days and I arrive 45 days later in the middle of the Olympics. Therefore there was no falsification of information in the declaration to the Olympics. And in her participation she did it clean, without the influence of any drug. You can't treat a child athlete like an adult. The level of hypocrisy in sports is unbelievable.
Agreed. The tragedy isn't using a heart drug during training. The 🎭 is hormonal body transformation to allow males to compete in the lower-performing female tier
The main reason that she is allowed to compete was that the test result of the 25th December 2021 sample was handed in by WADA's ITA in Sweden only on the 8th of February 2022 to coincide with the Gold Award Winning Ceremony for the Russian team, that is 45 days after the test was taken and over 25 days days after the 20 day deadline for the result to be produced and presented according to WADA's own regulations. The reason why WADA drew that deadline for a sample test result to be handed in not later than 20 days is to lesson the possibility of tempering and or of contamination of the sample in question. So the Positive test result for a trace of a banned medication supplied on the 8th February 2022 cannot be validated since it was NOT Alina Valieva's fault that it was communicated late. Besides, all tests taken from Kamila Valieva's sample before the 25th of December 2021 and after the 25th of December 2021, including in January 2022 and during the Beijing Olympics all returned a NEGATIVE test result from the same anti-doping test agency in Sweden. Therefore, the freak positive test result of the 8th of February 2022 should be discarded for expiry of the set deadline of 20 days and Alina Valieva cannot be accused of having returned a positive test result to a banned medication. The IOC investigation should center about why the 25th December sample test result was supplied by the ITA in Sweden so late and whether there was malicious intent in timing the communication of the result to make it coincide with the Gold Medal Award Winning Ceremony for the Russian team.
The reason WADA got the results so late was Covid delays but also because RUSADA didn’t flag Kamila’s sample as a priority. WADA trusts the anti doping agencies of each country to collect samples and send them to their lab. Samples of top level athletes are flagged so they get results quicker. But what do you do when an anti-doping agency actually helps athletes get away with doping. Huge corruption on RUSADA’s part
Other athletes were suspended because their outfits were deemed illegal, but to fail a drug test and continue to compete is so unfair to ALL Olympic athletes and participating countries!
The ROC knew they would get away with it because she's under age. No surprise here. Best thing the ISU can do is raise the age so that there are no minors competing. This poor girl probably didn't know what they were giving her. Doping in Russia is administered by the coaches without the athletes knowing. "Here, have this lovely breakfast and health shake." As a former competitive ice skater, this is disgusting and criminal! I’m done with any Olympic’s! Sorry, but there are rules and each Country knows the ramifications!
The test in question, was handed over on 25th December. According to records, it was 'documented' as arriving at the lab in Sweden on 19th January. (However a documented arrival date is just a documented date, it could have of course arrived much earlier but deliberately not been recorded). The results were given on 7th Feb, just within the 20 day allotted period. However, what the hell was happening with that 'supposedly' tamper free tube that was in WADA's possession for 25 days between 25th December and 19th Jan is anyone's guess.
Stop blaming our Swedish lab for the delay. It is very well documented why all the tests from Russian champion ships where delayed. It’s because of the lab at Karolinska institute (the institution that gives out the Nobel price in medicine) The delay was due 1st/ to covid-19 (omicron) that ravished our country in the past 2 months and quarantine rules for family members, 2nd/ to delays in delivery’s (that the whole world has and is suffering from). Then RADA sat on the results for a month! State sponsored cheating!
@@lasylphide-s5j RUSADA didn't sit on the results for a month, the results only came out on the 7th Feb. Like I said, that 'sample' apparently sprouted a pair of legs and went walkabout for 25 days. As regards delivery delays, there wasn't ANY restriction of air travel between Russia and Sweden at the time. Says a lot when the director of the institute replied 'no comment'.

I mean when the rest of the world including numerous credible international doping agencies are nodding in agreement and just one country is denying it....come on. Is this skater ridiculously talented? Yes, obviously. Are Russian athletes at the elite international level, with a doubt yes. Who will be responsible for all the damage she get during olympique games if it would be proved that this positive test is a big mistake and she never took a drug? Kamila isn’t Kremlin or Putin. She is an incredibly talented figure skater, the level higher than any other ever known. Can someone else skate as Valieva does even if they would take all the drugs on the world ?
I have discontinued watching the Olympics and will continue to do so until they are fair for everyone. I’m not sure that is even possible with a corrupt IOC along with people who simply don’t have the same standards of honesty and fair play.
Absolutely and it's a shame. I don't particularly care for Sha'Carri because of her attitude. But I totally agree that as always there's two different systems. Both substances are prohibited but only one was (truly) held accountable. Not surprised though.
She didn't run because she is an adult who willingly smoked a joint and was given a result in the 20 day period. Kamila is a minor who probably didn't have a clue what she was being given (if anything at all) and whose 45 day turnaround was such a joke that even Travis Tygart called it incredibly suspicious.

Let me get this straight... The CAS decided a skater who was caught doping is allowed to compete, but if she "wins" a medal, then ALL of those who earned a medal do not get them?? So the others who earned a medal without doping are penalized because she doped??? WTH! This certainly points to how injustice is ingrained into the Olympics in skating competitions.

And even if she has used a forbidden angina medication, why do you jump from there to "state-sponsored child abuse"? Do you really consider this unbiased, objective reporting?
Normally, I'd say she cheated, but why did it take so long to get the sample to the testing agency? And then get reported out? Something is wrong with this whole situation.

Thomas Bach's remarks are the pinnacle of hypocrisy.
In this season, Kamila's doping test results were clean at four international competitions,
but only the test for the Russian national competition showed polluted result.
Therefore, this case required a thorough investigation and verification, but there was not enough time.
As CAS rejected IOC's indictment to ban Kamila's participation in individual competition,
the IOC should have announced that IOC would normally award medals for the results of the game,
but that medal and record could be deprived if Kamila did intentional doping.
The IOC's shocking announcement "If Kamila stands on podium, medal award ceremony would be canceled" must have acted as tons of pressure on Kamila,
And this IOC's Threat made her step down from the podium by herself.
So if she wins everyone loses their medals? How is that fair.
No one is going to lose her medal, well, except maybe Valieva. The medalists will just receive their medals at a later date once Valieva's case is settled.

While I feel sorry for her being misled by her coaches and trainers, it’s not right or fair to other skaters for her to compete. She used a substance that gave her an advantage over others, and cheaters should not be rewarded. It sets a bad precedent for future drug use.
she old enough to know what she is taking.....gimme a break
@@MissPerriwinkle True, but she trusted her coach and trainers to not screw her over. Like I mentioned, it’s not right for her to compete, you give me a break.

Yeah like they mentioned she's competing against other minors who actually passed the drug test
This is why once again the Olympics shouldn't allow anyone under 18 to compete.
Why? What?
People under 18 cannot compete, but transgenders can. I think this is cool.
That would really screw up womens gymnatics....
No grown person can do most the things those girls do. Except Simone Biles. And she still looks like a child...

As a former competitive ice skater, this is disgusting and criminal!
Господи спасибо что существуют разумные люди
If the Russians were gonna mess with it, they'd have made sure it was 'clean' before handing it over. As regards delivery delays, there wasn't ANY restriction of air travel between Russia and Sweden at the time. Says a lot when the director of the institute replied 'no comment'.
@@lasylphide-s5j My question is not even to the laboratory, if they understood that this test would last longer than life, then why it was impossible to pass it earlier so that there would be no delays in announcing the test result. And then the figure skater had already won two competitions and then they decided to accuse her of some kind of doping test
Цена командного золота. Если бы результаты опубликовали раньше, Камилу бы заменили. А результаты пришли сразу после командника. Не удивлюсь, если проба б будет чистой, а косяки лаборатории спишут на ковид.
I haven't always agreed with Christine Brennan, but I agree 100% with her here. What a preposterous ruling... a slap in the face to every clean athlete at these Olympics, then also really unfair to the countries who have medals at stake in the team competition. What a mess.
you and Christine speak as if no American athlete has ever failed a drugs test. Even Carl Lewis failed them numerous times, but they were all brushed under the carpet. And just look at the swimming, it's claimed all of the GDR girls were Oral T'd up to the gills, BUT, NONE of their WR's would even make finals now, so what does THAT tell you about what TODAY'S swimmers are doped up to the gills with (and it ain't better nutrition or coaching).
how is it fair to allow Simone Biles to perform in relation to clean athletes who do not use doping due to "illness"?
@@bartcubbins9757 About as fair as it is that a huge majority of the Scandinavian cross country skiers are 'asthmatics' with TUEs for PED medication. In fact, I remember reading a recent report that said that EVERY member of the Norwegian squad at the time was an asthmatic. There should be NO TUEs in sport, full stop.
Nothing fair about this decision....so regardless of how good you are everybody rolls over for the cheaters .
Was it more fair to allow Simon Biles to take illegal drugs during competition?
Wait, why are we letting kids into the Olympics anyway?
I really don’t think people care about the Olympics or CNN MSNBC anymore. They are irrelevant. 👎🔥👎👎
It's hilarious that people still think people are "clean" in professional sports.
it won't be so hilarious for you when you get caught @egor.
CNN anchors are biased for the Russian girl. If she's black, would she be allowed to skate or get the same sympathy? She is not the victim. Come on! She took banned drugs. It's not fair for the other skaters.
It's pretty bad when the IOC is the vessel of credibility and fairness in the conversation....just sayin' Russia. I do feel bad for the athlete...she is clearly very talented but competes for a corrupt country and probably had little choice or say in the matter of this substance.
For your information. Valieva did not use the banned drug, it did not affect her indicators in any way. Our girl is clean. Her reputation is ruined only by those who, without understanding the situation and without clarifying the information in verified sources, criticize our athletes. The timing of the use of this drug has long been out of the competition. As for me, everything is obvious. She is a winner and I am ashamed of the West, which cannot accept defeat.
Sorry for the illiteracy in writing. Greetings from Russia)
@@ЕнотДотокин No need to apologize, your writing is just fine...really, it's better than most Americans in terms of clarity, structure, and grammar but we also have a lot of dumb dumbs here who never learned to write well. On the other hand, your rationale is full of holes. She never took the substance? So what are we to believe...that the substance just magically appeared in her system? And bigger picture, is there any legitimate dispute that the doping program among Russian athletes was / is widespread ? I mean when the rest of the world including numerous credible international doping agencies are nodding in agreement and just one country is denying it....come on. Is this skater ridiculously talented? Yes, obviously. Are Russian athletes at the elite international level, with a doubt yes. But the world has established a set of rules to abide by, one of which is doping-free competition, and the standards are very clear. And hey, it's not as if the US has not had its own share of doping cheaters...but, when caught cheating, they face real consequences...even athletes that are "national heros". There's a real benefit to the larger society when this sort of cheating is not tolerated and conversely, there's a degrading effect on society when cheating is denied, defended, or promoted. Personally, I could really care less about how many gold medals "we" win...but when cheaters amongst our athletes are identified, I prefer to see them removed from competition for the signal it sends to the norms of acceptable behavior of our society.
@@nlabanok Understand, I do not consider Valieva a fraudster. She is an athlete in a big political game. I'm sure she's clean. Maybe it's all just an attempt to desecrate the honor of the team?
@@ЕнотДотокин Well this is just blind belief in a conspiracy that the drug testing program is operated to only identify banned substances in Russian athletes. The data simply does not support that premise and there's zero actual evidence that the drug testing program is biased against Russian athletes. There's no sense in trying to convince a believer of conspiracy theories of anything different...so, enjoy the (tainted) Olympic skating program...and continue enjoying the conspiracy theories that Putin and his government push onto you in the name of nationalism and with the objective of keeping the Russian people distracted with claims of how unfairly the world treats your great country....and it is a great country and so much better than the silliness that the country's leadership bestows on the people.
I don't understand why she is being allowed to compete. Her participation potentially keeps others from winning.
because the case isn`t closed. Even if she wins (which I doubt after all that stress) they can still decide she will not get the medal. Don`t forget that the test she did for the Olympics were clean and those who came positive came really late - that is the reason why she can compete.
I don’t understand why wada still works, their work does not match the deadlines and work requirements..
Because is a hearth medication, is not dumping, also she was test in the Olympics she has test negative
Kamila doesn’t exist ?! Why, Christine, are you so enthusiastically accusing Kamila & her team, but so unsure answering for the question that it is possibly a mistake this only positive test on December 25 and nothing clear yet ? She had only positive test on December 25, all others before and after are negative.
Whet they will investigate why the test was delayed then its going to be a final decision on this case
NBC and IOC needs her to skate for TV ratings. It’s all about the money.
Sha’Carri Richardson was banned for Marijuana, a non performance enhancing drug. Double standards 😡
Absolutely and it's a shame.
I don't particularly care for Sha'Carri because of her attitude. But I totally agree that as always there's two different systems. Both substances are prohibited but only one was (truly) held accountable. Not surprised though.
Yeah thanks Biden
She didn't run because she is an adult who willingly smoked a joint and was given a result in the 20 day period. Kamila is a minor who probably didn't have a clue what she was being given (if anything at all) and whose 45 day turnaround was such a joke that even Travis Tygart called it incredibly suspicious.
The Olympics as a whole is a shitshow this year
All other countries should boycott until Russia is banned.
Russian mafia thuggery permeates all aspects of their society, they shouldn’t be allowed in any games,
Maybe this could finally be a catalyst of having no one under the age of 17 yrs of age compete in the Olympics.
This is a hot mess
It’s also very pitiful for her, but at the same time, it’s terrible for other figure skaters. I'm so sorry to her, but this is unfair to other athletes.
I'm worried that this will hurt precious children.
If this is mental and physical damage to the athletes, we no longer have any meaning of enjoying the Olympics.

If you really want to make it about "privilege" (like the moron yoy seem to be) it's about her age and her talent which is despite dopping so high i would imagine that the committee would be sad to lose her talent and is struggling to make a decision. Also as 15 yo she didn't consciously tried to cheat. Also the positive result was 1 year ago and it was a micro amount. She did train with it at some point, but how much this affects her performance 1 year or more later is unclear. By the rules she it would be justified to make her not participate, but the real take away that all minors should be banned from FS in general.
I am so tired about this race baiting and victimhood. This is about a minor being abused. No its about minors being abused to perform figures which will destroy their bodies before they reach 20. And some of them are medicated by adukts putting their health and life on the line. This is the real scandal.
Don't forget about the elephants in the room, Russia who exploited this girl and the Chinese Communist Party bankrolled the IOC

Oh no, american viewership of the olympics is down, what is the rest of the world gonna do without them??????
It still has great views. Sorry comrade.
Russy should not get the bennie of the doubt. Whats the point of testing if they just let it slide.
It makes as much sense as only punishing the terrorists who were brainwashed into smashing the US Capital while allowing the leaders who lied to make that happen, to walk away free.
This will have impact on those parents who are willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to have their children reach Olympic-level competition. They may not be willing to dedicate themselves and their finances to prepare their children to enter into competition on an un-level playing field against doping participants. Either all follow the rules, or dispense with all rules regarding doping.
My heart breaks for them
The whole world should boycott the skating competition in this Olympics. IOC should be ashamed for this decision. It loses any credibility in the future.
I boycott the whole damn thing I watch no Olympics no Academy Awards no Super Bowl all it is is big wigs making more money But I love the halftime show
This is so stupid! Why let her compete? F*ckin RIDICULOUS!! Cheaters!
Seriously? In a blood sample from December they found traces of angina medication and you call this an "egregious doping violation" as if she was full of EPO? And before she has any chance to defend herself, she should be banned, just to be on the safe side? What if she is found innocent later? Just though luck then? And even if she has used a forbidden angina medication, why do you jump from there to "state-sponsored child abuse"? Do you really consider this unbiased, objective reporting?
If Sha'Carri couldn’t run, this chick can’t skate. Simple.
Banned substances are banned substances. Period.
She is only 15 so can come back in 4 years, she should be disqualified
Normally, I'd say she cheated, but why did it take so long to get the sample to the testing agency? And then get reported out? Something is wrong with this whole situation.
