+Custom Offsets they make a spray called 'dip remover" that you use if you ant peel it off and it pretty much liquiditys the coating and you wash it off.
PVD worked great for me. I live in a Northern climate and have had the PVD for over 8 years with no issues. I take that back, a rock from our horrible road hit one of my rims and I can see the gouge. Aside from that, they are awesome.
That’s great thanks I live in the UK were we ca;have harsh winters , I’ve had my alloys polished & I was wondering what I can do to protect them so thank you .
Have issues with moto metal chrome wheels looked great for the first year but after that pitting oxidation etc I’m honestly thinking polished aluminum the way to go need be go have them re polished cause I’m about to have to powder coat these chrome wheels and it hurts my heart
Thank you so much for the Information. I have a Quick question, How long does it take for a polished aluminum wheel to start clouding up After buying in it brand new?
Do you have an actual storefront that people can come in and take a look at wheels or are you online only? I saw your based out of Appleton which is pretty close to me.
How much better ( if at all ) does a painted wheel stand up in the winter compared to lets say the PVD-Chrome or even stock aluminum wheels? I have had custom wheels on my minitrucks in the past and it is a real pain in the ass to switch out wheels for winter and summer. Would you recommend a painted wheel as something that I can run year round without having to switch out?
I have a question. I have a 2007 silverado classic, I want to put 35 by 12 inch tires. I dont know what size lift I would need in order to do no metal triming, I will do plastic triming. Will it take a 6inch, 7.5 inch lift? Please help.
+Anthony Sessoms you'll probably want 6" for 33s, or 7.5" for 35s, I think it'll rub either way, I know Chevy's have small wheel wells, go online and google it, you'll find a good answer
You can polish the uncoated aluminum wheel and then use a good wax on top of them to keep them from clouding up. You should wax any custom wheel, it helps save your investment. Chrome steel is about as heavy a wheel as you can find. If you go off road, avoid steel, if you hit an object they tend to bend on sharp angles, leaving you with a wheel that won't hold air. Aluminum will spread the bend out across more of the rim, possibly letting you drive home. Either way, you're buying a new wheel. Be careful buying "refurbished" wheels. Unless you know the wheel was just dirty or the coating was chipping , I'd stay away. You really can't straighten an aluminum wheel and retain the integrity it had before it was damaged. There are plenty of people selling these wheels, but I've had a supplier in the past SUED out of business because of wheel failures. Custom Offsets, do you do chrome wheel swaps on OE style wheels? I might be interested in the future since there's not a big choice of 18 inch wheels for an Acadia.
Have you looked at the industry's first acid resistant pvd called Prestige PVD. Check out their RUclips video that documents the engineered solution to peeling pvd.
Sean, Invite you to look at Winona's new Prestige PVD (RUclips Video). We make bright, black, and liquid silver pvd wheels for cars, trucks, RV's, and ATV's. Chrome plated wheel are junk. Had a set of mazzi hulks turn to dogshit after 7 months. Dual stage powder coating is the only way to go now days. I don't even drive me truck in winter....
Physical vapor depositions PVD....same coating on your reflective headlights behind plastic cover....aluminum vapor coating that relies on the clear topcoat for durability....cheaper to make....chromium is the best Real Chrome or stay home....however you need to buy chrome wheels from manufacturers who know how to produce quality....not down and dirty price....quality chrome wheel supplier have a 3 year warranty......pvd fake and cheap looks great unless up close.
I too suffer from CRS (Cant Remember Shit) I paused the video and did a search right then LOL I have 18x10 polished aluminum wheels on my 2500HD, I'm seriously considering painting mine, polishing frequently sucks
"Every truck meet at the Walmart" That made me laugh!!

I've watched most of your "didn't know "vids, thank you, very informative! don't stop.
Sean, this video has answered a lot of uncertanties I had about rim finishes, and I will be going with Polished aluminum unpainted rims. Thank you!
No problem James!
I had a set with pvd. Never again. Mine flaked off after 2 months. CHROME ALL THE WAY!
That was very brave of you to even start this video without knowing how to spell aluminum! 😂😂😂😂 I love this guy!
I was wondering why my “chrome” wheels have a darker tint
I spray my chrome wheels with 6 coats plasti dip every winter then peel off in the spring. .works great. .no salt damage at all..
+Custom Offsets they make a spray called 'dip remover" that you use if you ant peel it off and it pretty much liquiditys the coating and you wash it off.
+Tyler Werner.. thanks. .never heard of it. .il try it..

Depends really on the environment it is in! Just make sure you keep them clean because they can be a lot of work!
Thanks for the demonstration.
No worries!

POLISHED OR BUST. It's worth the maintenance to keep them lookin good. Microfiber with some Mother's polish keeps them shinin!
So meguiars chrome wheel cleaner wouldn't work on polished aluminum?
Thanks again. So do you prefer the black painted ones for where you live?
Do you have an actual storefront that people can come in and take a look at wheels or are you online only? I saw your based out of Appleton which is pretty close to me.
I have pvd rims but I am not sure what wax to use?
Can you ceramic cost a polished wheel & will it protect it .
Yes you can and it will!
How can you tell if an aluminum wheel has a protective coating over it vs one that doesn't?
Usually protective coatings will make water bead or fall right off. You could try that. Otherwise search forums or ask local truck groups 🤘🏼

I bought some used chrome mavericks that have a lot of scratches on them will I be able to get the scratches out or should I have a professional do it
Chrome is a very hard finish to get to shine once scratched Krypticate. best leave it to the pro's!

Its a 1500. I would also be okay with 33 by 12 inch tires.
+Anthony Sessoms you'll probably want a 6" lift for 33s if you don't want to trim a lot depending on the offset you choose
+ixxblitzxx I wanted to go with a -44 offset. Thanks for the feedback

What is the name of the 3rd rim you said is pud-chrome? I need the name of the rim? Anybody
Those are American Racing AR901 wheels that have since been discontinued unfortunately.
How can you tell the difference?
Do diff rents brands of lift kits like BDS VS rough country ECT..
