Edit: Sorry I was mistaken on which fossil deck you were talking about, leaving the rest here unchanged Oh but it is with pokemon comms! I've made a similar list to the Skymory Bastiodon except it's Onix Rampardos and it plays a 2nd Onix and 2 pokeballs. If you have Onix, pkmn comms, and PokeBall you "play fetch". Comms away the Onix, fetch it with PokeBall Leaving the only inconsistency finding the fossil cards themselves. If they're in the bottom two of the deck then I hope you found Brock to start sweeping with an aggressive Onix
An honor to have my deck featured here! The tournament was incredibly fun and I hope there's another in the future. The deck building in this expansion is just wild, can't wait to see how it progresses!
Hey Jeff! Dodrio + Infernape player here! I appreciate the shout out, the deck and tourney were a lot of fun! My excuse for 2 Giovanni over 2 Dawn was being more scared hitting Palkia's and Mewtwo's 150hp, and also wanting to 1 shot Manaphy with the birds, since that was what I thought were going to be the meta. Hindsight says Dawn is more useful, but I was also 1 Infernape top-deck from taking the seat from that Skarmory/Bastiodon.
@@matthewfosdick9847 hey, seeing your list inspired me to pull the trigger on building a dodrio victreebel dawn list after having earlier seen the bird and being intrigued. I've had a few dedicated test games with some dark zone players and I think with only minor refinements it's got real potential. This explanation for the dawn gio split explains a lot!
I am also wanting to try out luxray cuz the first pack i opened was the full art volkner haha -- i currently only have one copy though so would love to get some of your thoughts on 1) what to replace for a 2nd copy when i get one and 2) if you think theres a version where you only run one volkner and dont go all in on the luxray/discarded energy plan what that would look like here is my list now 2 Blitzle 2 Zebstrika 2 Shinx 2 Luxio 1 Luxray 1 Zapdos ex 2 Professor's Research 1 Volkner 1 Dawn 2 X Speed 2 Poké Ball 2 Pokémon Communication
@nrathbon1 Personally, I'm not a huge fan of pairing Luxray with Zeb. I have also seen decks with 1 Volkner, but they're usually crowded, as in this case, you need to fit another attacker imo. The best performing decks rn have been with zapdos like my list (dropping rocky helms for potion and sabrina got 2nd place) and an electabuzz/1evire version without any exs (got top 8) It will be interesting to explore which of these two builds are better.
I've played 230 pvp matches in total. Yet alone 150 of them have been with the release of the newest expansion. It's so much fun, i can't stop. Thank you for being my meta fuel since the beginning of Marvel Snap. ❤
Magnezone is probably my favorite card in this game to date. It enables the one thing I really wanted to explore- dual typing/energy requirements- off the back of magneton. People had theorycrafted magneton-based non-electric decks in GA’s meta but it wasn’t particularly good. I’m glad that idea had a chance to shine now!
I’ve been playing around with mismagius and honestly it feels like a real sleeper currently. Still working out the details, but between azelf, Cyrus, mew and confusion you can punch well above weight class. Even one confusion tails can be game winning bc it can nullify supporters like gio and set you up for multiple extra turns potentially! Hopefully it gets explored more
@ this is a good shout too, didn’t think about that Feels like the card is catching flak from darkrai being popular which is expected but it feels really good overall imo
Mismagius is a card I'm too scared to touch because of Darkrai if I'm being honest. It's likely a good card in its own right, but this really doesn't seem like a good meta to be playing Psychic Pokemon in at all.
@ yeah it’s definitely an uphill battle in those matchups but you at least have play into it and outs via confusion. I had a horrible draw into darkrai weavile and still took it to the final turn and would’ve won if opponent didn’t have Cyrus in hand. I don’t think I’d bring it into tournament currently but I think there is a build out there somewhere that could do it
Magnezone fighting box and Chatot+Fossils are definitely my favorite decks out of this bunch, can't wait to try them (once I assemble all cards, that is orz)
I didn't even think of that, nice catch. Though that doesn't leave much room in your deck. 6 cards for Luxray line, 4 cards for Yanmega-EX line. You'd have to setup Yanmega-EX manually so that's 2 turns of doing nothing but attaching energies. Not sure if that's really viable
@solidzack That's true, could be too reliant on drudiggon lead. Could be: 2x Yanmega line 2x Luxray line 2x Druddigon 2x Volkner 2x Pokéball 2x Research 1x Communication 1x Leaf
Great seeing so many awesome and off-the-beaten-path brews! Gallade is starting to give me Arcanine vibes. Something I (and a lot of people) saw during spoilers and said "Yeah, not quite seeing it," but has a lot of potential to line up well into a lot of the meta. Gallade being good going first and Lucario being good going second (or first due to the Lucario buff) is incredibly solid.
Mismagius and dusknoir has felt super good. The confusion helps give you longevity while dusknoir heals her up when your opponent inevitably hits heads.
Howdy Jeff. Have you ever considered making a video of a sort of matchups rundown? Like a single video going into detail about which of the top decks are decently likely to beat which of the other top decks / to lose to which of the other top decks. I get that with the meta in its current state it would be pretty hard, but maybe in a couple of weeks when it's stabilized with the new cards? I'd watch it, at the very least.
People are still sleeping on Machamp EX + Lucario, I've been dominating with it, you don't even need Machamp to win when Machoke is hitting for 70-90 hp each turn

@@hamburgerfatso it does... have you forgotten what Chattot does? You would discard the pokeball so there less cards to draw with it effect. Not that it matters anyway.
Hey Jeff I saw your video, this Magnezone Fighting deck is cracked, I've been destroying everyone with this you need to do it on stream if you haven't yet asap. Fighting was already a decent deck previously in Mythical Island expansion but Magnezone gives it the finisher it was lacking which was my only problem with the deck
Gallade is actually really similar to Infernape, being both fast hitting stage 2 Ex with tanky HP stat The difference is, Gallade can attack more consistently for slightly lesser damage on average. And that fighting type has better support mons.
What about swapping skarmory for dialga? I’ve been having success with it since with this variation you’re guaranteed Dialaga which is a little slower but helps ramp up your other Dialga and Bastiodon
Chatot's Variant with Pokeballs should switch to Pokedex since it's the most underrated card ever. With Pokemon Communication combos I'm not even going to explain myself. Appreciate the content.

Only problem with your luxray deck and I’ve been running a lot of luxray he’s my favorite mon😂 when you retreat with zapdos you only discard 1 energy where as electabuzz allows you to turn one acquire 2 energy discard it the next or a turn after that and then use volkner to its fullest potential
Been playing a lot of Luxray too, Luxray/Volkner is my favourite from the new set. I've been liking it with Galvantula, as well! I wasn't a big fan of Electivire or Zapdos as partners, though Bench sniping with Electabuzz was sickk
@@coreyodell6220 the new electabuzz allows you to ramp energy onto itself which allows you to volkner 1 turn earlier and just have more energy on a electabuzz if you pull into electivire
I didn't even realize that Electabuzz has a 2 retreat cost. Normally this would suck, but if the opponent k.o's Electabuzz you still get the advantage of Volker and if they don't you might evolve into Electivire and deal 40 damage and then 120 if they don't do something about it
You can experiment with shaymin in the back for extra healing and gardevoir. Basically +50 every turn. It could be a fun variant but besides that giratina Is much more superior as a tank
Because retreating giratina doesn't use up the energy, letting you use dawn to put it on infernape and attack with it twice in a row. It's also only a single point so if something goes wrong and giratina dies you can still sacrifice a chimchar or monferno to stall before getting infernape.
