Common misconception, but bit crushing doesn't reduce sample rate. It reduces bit depth. They can sound similar and are confused and sometimes mislabeled by plugin devs too though. Essentially, sample rate reduction reduces the resolution of the audio along the time axis, and bit crushing reduces the resolution along the amplitude axis.
