  • A day that started with flea markets and ended with the usual junk stores and antique malls! I bought a few good 45s and 78s and even one in really rough shape.

I can’t believe how often you see King, Specialty and Imperial labels down there. It’s like one or two in each handful! Not so much here in northern New England. Now I can’t see a Slim Whitman 78 without thinking “He’ so gosh darn popular in Europe!”.

I like 45s, but there are just so many of them out there that it is confusing how to tell treasure from trash. You have helped me a bit. I will admit that I am an LP guy. Have over 100, but have a very good lead from someone that has over 200 lps they wanna sell. Her husband passed away several years ago and he collected stuff like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, etc... She can tell I am a big music lover and she wants me to have the first look at them. I will get a look at them before Christmas. Wish me luck and hope you find some big scores!

You are right to check for shy 45s hiding Mac....I once found a very rare 45 shoved into an album sleeve!!

Back on the sasquatch theme: I've listened to quite a lot of Sasquatch Chronicles testimonials (the format is always the same but every episode is a _somewhat_ unique personal account - I don't go for -sensationalised- / dull, generic investigative documentaries all plugging the same royalty-free mood muzak ad tedium) ...
I've listened to quite a lot of Sasquatch Chronicles testimonials and out of the pure goodness of my heart I'm willing to proffer the benefit of my expertise. It is my educated belief that the overwhelming consensus of their musical preference is placid, flat-picked folk guitar melody. They have no appreciation of 'hard' music because they haven't invented the automobile yet (no need; they can run like billy-o) so no reckless driving soundtrack requirement.
Arm yourself with an acoustic guitar and a music box melody when you go camping and I surmise the sasquaii will be less likely to kill you. No such guarantee against the blunt sensibilities of bears and wild cats. You'll probably need to hit them with a frying pan or something.

@The Evileye Effect - You're very kind, thank you. I garnered a modestly generous response on a mountaineering thread a couple of years ago when I pledged a month of public holidays with drinks and snacks thrown in. A rather more enthusiastic response to a succinctly facetious quip earlier on the same thread. I'm quietly confident I now have a solid, comprehensive presidential prospectus: facetious quips, more public holidays (with drinks and snacks thrown in) and sasquatch awareness. Let's make Uzbekistan great again.

@The Evileye Effect - Absolutely. My mission tomorrow (after the formality of snoozing through a shift at air traffic control) is to forage for my favourite ginger and lemongrass cordial so as to optimize Christmas house arrest toward furtive bourgeoisie delinquency. As a trusted political confidant, you're welcome to a snort of that, too, if you want.

Do you clean the covers of the records if they are dirty before selling them?
