We need to take inton account, they were like 16 or 17 years old while doing this video. Just 2-3 years since they learned music instruments. Still a very raw talent.
we love VOBs because we know how they are formed, with all the limitations of tools and technology. with all the social pressures that forbid women to play music. we know their struggle to become who they are today.
I think Marsya's voice will mature over time. In Please, God, allow me (please) to play music, they have a bit af harmonies going. They also did a tour through Europe and will be in Wacken later the year.

Good reaction David, I too found the vocals a bit abrasive but not unpleasant as say, on a Geddy Lee level, (oh boy, here comes the torch's and pitch forks). Having said that, I'm a bit saddened by you having to explain in small words your opinions so the small minded people out there will not feel you are attacking or disrespecting the band, Oy! such times we live in. People sure have long toes and thin skin compounded with closed minds these days. But like The Warning, give them another listen as they have some superlative songs out....Mexico has the Villareal sisters, Indonesia has VOB...

I'm glad they led you to "VoB", they are not my favourite band musically, I lean more towards hard-rock than metal, and I have mixed feelings about their use of the hijab, but they deserve to be recognised, they are good instrumentalists, I think they know how to compose and they haven't had it easy because of their religion, something they denounce in their most recent video. They are, if I'm not mistaken, in the same age range as The Warning and curiously it's the bass player and the drummer who stand out most as instrumentalists. It's the Indonesian version of The Warning. Well, not quite, but there are a lot of similarities. This is their first official music video, consider it their equivalent to XXI Century Blood, a nice first effort. In my view this song could have been structured a little better, it's a little too long. That breakdown jam is exceptional though. Their weakness is songwriting, mostly in terms of output. I think they have maybe a half dozen originals, maybe a few more. Hard to tell when the song names are not in English. Hopefully one of your Patreons has their more recent singles queued up for you already. You'll see the bassist doesn't pop and slap that much, as you said, only where appropriate. And I recall you chuckling over The Warning's flag over their kick drum on that first video of theirs you reviewed.
The only weak spot and there's not any weak spots except the vocals and not really all that weak. Just if I had to make any criticism that is. Musically I liked it, many good points in the song.

It's the Indonesian version of The Warning. Well, not quite, but there are a lot of similarities. This is their first official music video, consider it their equivalent to XXI Century Blood, a nice first effort. In my view this song could have been structured a little better, it's a little too long. That breakdown jam is exceptional though. Their weakness is songwriting, mostly in terms of output. I think they have maybe a half dozen originals, maybe a few more. Hard to tell when the song names are not in English. Hopefully one of your Patreons has their more recent singles queued up for you already. You'll see the bassist doesn't pop and slap that much, as you said, only where appropriate. And I recall you chuckling over The Warning's flag over their kick drum on that first video of theirs you reviewed.

The only weak spot and there's not any weak spots except the vocals and not really all that weak. Just if I had to make any criticism that is. Musically I liked it, many good points in the song.
Saya setuju klo vob memang ada kekurangan. Mereka masih muda masih perlu pengalaman banyak. Mrk tidak mendapatkan sekolah musik khusus. Dan alat2 yg mrk gunakan untuk berlatih sangatlah sederhana. Justru dgn alasan tersebut mrk layak mendapatkan nilai tertinggi dgn pencapaianya seperti sekarang. Musik adalah seni, terkadang seni berlari jauh dr hitungan teori. Kita bisa lihat permainan alib bata yg terkadang jauh dr teori musik, tetapi dunia mengakui dan dunia terhibur.
Teruslah berkembang vob, teruslah bersenang senang dgn musik, teruslah menghibur dunia...
