Excellent video on nut setup. Aiming the file towards the appropriate tuner when cutting the slots was something I hadn't thought of (probably would have thought of it after doing it 'wrong' once). Also wondered if you would leave your .050 feeler gauge in place while filing. Taking it out makes sure you don't accidentally cut a groove in it too. I'm always impressed with MyaMoe construction techniques! Thanks for the video.
hi nice work what is the formula for width of nut slots say using a 9 -42 guage set so the slots dont bind or be to sloppy thank you every thing else you said and done spot on regards Stephen
I've just ordered my first ukulele, a tenor. I've also ordered a single string because I'm expecting the instrument to have a high G, and I prefer a low (I suppose because I'm a guitar player). I'm concerned about the nut and saddle adjustments that will be necessary. I'm not a professional luthier with ideal tools, but I'll do the best I can. This video has helped tremendously. I'm hoping I can get by with just an investment of the right file.
where is everybody getting these tools from? don't tell me damn stewMac. they can't be the only one on this planet and their prices are outrageous. for what they charge for files, you can buy a brand new guitar.
Glad to see someone is calling out StewMac on their ridiculous prices. As for alternatives, these crazy prices have created a lot of forums and videos where people report using torch tip cleaners or feeler gauges.
