And I'm still upset at a number of his decision making but the way you guys handled it with class while giving him help but still preserving his dignity as a man to make his own decision was just great to see.
Now when he gets back to the US he needs to find out everything he can about ensuring his children are officially recognized as US citizens. This is of utmost importance for their immediate and long term future. Once he is able to establish that the twins are his biological children then they also become eligible to receive social security checks due to them being the minor children of a social security eligible father. I hope all ends well and the family is eventually reunited because children do need both their mother and father in their lives. Thanks Paul. Bless you Paul and your friends for helping this guy out. You have to have a steady income that will sustain yourself indefinitely there before you even buy a ticket to go over there, and you have to have enough savings in an emergency fund preferably in multiple banks, to get you back to your country of origin if things do go sideways. It's so interesting how people keep commenting, “go flip burgers”. Places where you “flip burgers” still have an application process. You can't just walk in to the place and say, I WANT A JOB, and get one. Like any business, there's a protocol they have to follow.
He's an older guy, any manager is going to take his age into account. What's his experience, how long has he been out of work. Why has be been out of the country?…etc. All of these questions, (plus more), are what a hiring manager is going to ask and take the answers under consideration. This kind of scrutiny, most likely, will happen at every interview, if he gets an interview.

I also don't know whether John realizes this (maybe he does), but he is unlikely to return to the Philippines. His SS-based wages probably are not that high. He is almost certainly going to be doing low wage work after he returns. If he has a serious illness, he would have to stay in the US for government-subsidized care. He is going to be sending a lot of the little he earns to the Philippines. I just don't see how he returns unless it is additional generosity provided by others.

    • @BigMac2222

I feel like a lot of these guys look up the cost of living and don't factor other unavoidable expenses. If you hear $1,500 a month will let you live comfortably your SS checks better be $3,000 a month with at least $500,000 in savings for emergencies. Showing up with $30,000, no income, and no plan other than "make it last 4 years" is extremely foolish.
If the reason guys like this go to the Philippines is because they're low self esteem and lonely its not going to end well.

Paul is such a great guy! He has his life put together well, but finds time to help others. Bravo! Rare & comendable. My wonderful grandfather, who 'lost his butt', in the 1929 Depression, bounced back & left his children thousands, when he passed at age 80. He used to say, "Don't Tell me how...SHOW me how!"
Paul exemplifies my grandfather's best beliefs: he is actively
"Showing how" step by step, going way above board...How to help this man. I would have got "off that train" long ago...
I don't have the "light", or whatever..to "pull that rabbit...out of
that hat", so to speak. Hehe..Again, kudos to Paul! I just wish we had a guy like Paul..in the White House! Wouldn't that be sweet!
He gets things done! No matter what! Incredible. Thanks, Paul!👍🤩

Poor John...devoid of ideas, devoid of money, and devoid of pride. But what he does have is a belief that he's going to come back to the Philippines in 18-24 months with his pockets full of money, and sweep his lady off her feet. Unfortunately this is either an illusion, or perhaps a delusion. I wish this man the best, and if he proves me wrong I will be the first to say so. But John has gone from taking a hand up from friends, to taking handouts from anyone. I hope that part of his welcome package he gets when he arrives in his final destination, is a good cold slap in the face. Before he begins to even think about coming back to the Philippines, he needs to have at least 1 years living expenses for the Philippines saved up, without counting his SSI income. As far as him sending money back to the Philippines, I think he should. He fathered those children, so he needs to share in the cost of their upbringing. But he also needs to tell his lady that she'll get no more than 10% of his income the first 6 months, and maybe 25% after HE is set and stable...But I see a train wreck in the US for this poor guy, unless he stops thinking about all the freebies he's going to get, and starts thinking about what kind of man he is, and how hard he is willing to work to try and make a go of his Philippine dream Part 2...

It's funny as mentioned by a few people who had employees just like John. I did to...they were walking disasters, I would cringe everytime I had to talk to them...the reason was I knew I was going to hear a very long story of another, "oh shit" moment! It is wearing because, one, it never changes, two, it's all about they never get a break...blah blah blah! Social security disability can take up to three years. A diagnosis is required and counseling is not an option. John can go to the states Vocational Rehabilitation department where they can give him a free diagnosis. It is time consuming as well and can take 3 to 6 months before fruition of employment. In the meantime there are nonprofit organizations that can assist with housing, food and clothing. Coming home to America is the wise choice so he can get the assistance he needs. Good luck John and good job Paul and all who assisted. God bless

@@dinomaddog9584 I've heard them say they someone will pick him up airport and give him modest accommodations for a shirt time. Jobs are plentiful right now. There is no reason he can't be living very minimally on his own, if he is committed and takes advantage of social services. But he can't make stupid decisions....like send money back to the Philippines for the Barangay.

I hope the best for John. Also I hope that thing in his neck turns out to be nothing. I will follow this story and pray for the best.

He’s been very lucky to be pulled out of the shit, by some decent people. But you’ve got to help yourself too.

Paul and all those involved in assisting John are to be commended for helping John. There are job opportunities everywhere in America right now. John can find work easily but it’s John responsibility to keep the job. Let’s hope there is a happy ending to John’s odyssey.

In my humble opinion, John should return to the US and never come back. He is obviously not equipped to handle the situation in PH, in spite of all of your help. Good on ya for your generosity, but there is only so much you and the community can do…

Great video Paul. You’re a good man for initiating this assistance for John. I feel that he’s a good man too. No malicious intents whatsoever. Perhaps poor judgment but that doesn’t make him a bad guy. It’s good to see him get back to the US and have a breath of fresh air. Do the things he needs to do and reevaluate everything. Nothing wrong with that!
    thanks for sharing.

The very first video of John details how he was previously married to a Filipina that used him for money. There was also a second one described as a “money pit” so he should know the deal and not be naive at this stage.

Paul, great information you are given John. John, back in the day when I worked US Department of Defense (DOD) Civilian Police in the country of the Marshall Islands. I lived on the base and my family lived in another city. I could not see them for at least once a year. We did that for 12 year. John, going back to the states to get your paperwork is a great thing. Have a doctor look at your neck though. Possible, you may qualify for SSDI or Social Security Disability Insurance. Paid monthly like full security but, given to those who are disabled. That is why get that neck checked out. If not, maintain until you turn age 62. GOD speed.
