Exploring the Tone Master Pro | Fender

Every time I hear “the best…. Ever” it makes me doubtful.
Like a used car salesman
you must not be discerning enough
They should say "The best... in the Universe". So we could really trust'em..😂
Apple says it all the time and they’re the most successful business in history.
Right, get outta here.
I didn't see anyone playing a bass. A good number of the responses here sound like marketing copy. No expression pedal. Pricey
Just ordered mine can't wait to get it! Keep up the R&D and please keep the updates coming! Great work Fender
Sounds like a Mustang GTX blended with a POD GO
Holy f, finally an amp modeler by fender yeeeeeaaaahhh
“Holy F” would have been great branding on fenders part Hahahah I can see the logo now.
I need help.... do you know if I can use the EXP-1 Expression Pedal with the Tone Master Pro? or i need to buy the SP-1?
Looks like a fantastic pedal but the price is off putting. I can get a multitude of great analog stomp boxes that do the same thing for half the price.
Is there autofilters pedals available in fx ?
Looks really cool!
Sounds good tho! 😮
This is the first time I’ve seen someone play a Jackson in a fender video
It all depends on the price point...within the limits of what its supposed to be able to do
$1700
Cool but definitely too expensive. You could make a cheaper multi-effect for up to $300 and you would certainly make more money from it than from this toy for rich dentists and senators.
And I think this would be good for people who work at churches or on cruise ships not just senators and dentist. Plus politicians are usually horrible musicians.🤣😂
They did, it was part of the mustang series. And the were discontinued because people didn’t buy them.
I bought one second hand and it’s fine
@@XneverstopfightingX In 2012, there was not as much interest in guitar multi-effects as there is today. Besides, today these puppies can sound quite good. Even for $250 like NUX MG30.
@@grahammillar3201 Really? ...You bought a 2 day old product second hand already? 🤔
We have Helix, Fractal, Kemper, Neural QC, Headrush, Boss, IK units… and now, FENDER claiming they have the “best” of em all. Cmon guys, nothing new here 🤷🏻♂️
when do the prices go down? with all this competition we should be getting this for $800
Overpriced and like their other systems like GDec, Mustang and others they will quit supporting the software after a short period of time to get you to buy something new. No thanks!
For the price, I don't think it offers more than fractal, helix or even quad cortex.
No profiling/tone capture function, so less of effects and amps, is overprice man. Kemper now have liquid profiling function that lead the whole guitar world into future.
Or your guys can keep update the firmware for so many years like helix or fractal? If yes, then it still a good product.
Yeah I was really interested in checking it out since it says "the best sounding modeler ever". I'll definitely stick with my QC
true, and don't forget about community and support .. line6 & fractal is hard to beat in that area
having more amps and effects does not necessarily mean better sound. I would rather have fewer options with higher quality. Now this does not mean I think this unit is superior
For the price of a mortgage payment, I’ll hold out for the slightly more affordable “Tone Apprentice Amateur” model.
Years of R&D? You’re kidding us. Line 6 Helix copy that took a lot of time. Not impressed unless you can point out unique differences. Hey I own at least 10 Fender guitars and pedals. So no hard feelings.
$1,699 price tag
The “not so best price ever”…
Yeah helix/qc price
Some dentist will buy it and put it next to his dusty Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop
Might as well get a helix
@@Poldek.Misiak cringe.
From what i heard, it's same nuance as any kind of mustang amp : dark, dull, compressed excessively. But i can be wrong.
Sorry, Fender, this is all too ridiculously priced. This will be a complete fail. Not even worth the thought of owning.
I love Fender. That said, the modeling sounds comparable to everything else out there. I wasn’t blown away, it’s not bad at all, but it’s not $1699 good. The interface looks pretty cool though, if this was 800 bucks, I’d be more into this, but 1700 isn’t a price I’d pay when I can get a Quad Cortex or kemper with years of bugs worked out and patches. Plus knowing Fenders history of abandoning Fuse software, Im very hesitant to trust Fender will be updating this unit in 3 years. I’m curious to try it, but not buy it.
I agree. I'll stick with my DigiTech RP1000. Lol
Looks like a Headrush Prime Lite, for more money. No thanks.
Considering the price, they really really dropped the ball not including a foot pedal.
Looks like a great design! Would be good to see a demo of the vocal effects as well since it has a mic input.
Mary Spender did a demo using the mic input along with her guitar….pretty nice.
Ima let you finish but line6 helix is better. One more thing - who uses shimmer in 2023 to market a product, twice?
Read both manuals and listen to all the videos out. It crushes Line 6
For a first time first GEN modeler for me the price is a bit high. Helix has been out for sometime. You know what you’re getting for the price, the same can be said for quad cortex and fractal audio. If they came out with a scaled down version much like the HX stomp with not as many features or IO’s then maybe I would consider it.
If you watch all the videos and read both manuals you will realize that they are crushing everyone except Fractal with this unit. I felt the same way until I took a deep dive. It is the best unit ever out on first attempt. Quad Cortex was a disappointment. This unit will crush Boss and Line 6.
@@josephballew maybe, maybe not. I’ve played enough modelers in my lifetime to know that videos, manuals and tones are all subjective. Everybody says their modeler is the best, is there really a best or is it all just personal opinion? I’ve seen live bands play, headrush, fractal audio, helix, quad cortex and Kemper live. Sometimes they sound great. Sometimes they sound like shit. All I’m saying is when you look at all the companies out there and making modelers, they all realize one thing, not everyone needs the top-of-the-line. Sometime you need to scale down version for those who won a little bit more simplicity. The question I would ask is this product hasn’t been out but what a couple weeks and they’re supposedly crushing everybody, I seriously doubt that.
@@joenally9953it’s why I got the helix stomp xl. The $1600 version cost more than my amp lol. I own a tone master amp so I’m eager to see if they do make a scaled down version as well. Modelers are only getting better and accurate. Exciting time for players pros and amateur alike
Might work great until fender decides to no longer support the software for it like my super champ x2 and fender fuse. Buyer beware they will inevitably cancel support software making your expensive purchase obsolete. One could say they are planning on do this.
Why oh why do you never show your amazing stuff in a full band mix or live recorded setting. The nicest sounds aren't worth anything if they don't fit in easily or simply can't be made to work. 🤨 but it really has a thoughtful design and an intuitive operability at least it seems. We'd like to test it for ourselves maybe one day 🤘😎
You can EQ those tones in any fashion that you deem fitting. How can a tone "not work" when you can build it from scratch yourself?
I've been using mine as a pedal board in front of a Tonemaster Twin and it's freaking great. Really love it.
I think that would be my use case. Pedal board in front of my Vox tube amp. Glad you like the tone master so far. I’ve used helix etc but just hate the workflows in all of those. It really does take away from the experience. The tone master just feels more artfully displayed.
It’s awesome to see how far the tonemaster technology has come over the last few years. But I certainly hope this doesn’t signify the end of the tonemaster standalone amp models. I still love my tonemaster deluxe reverb as much as the day I bought it! I would love to see more amps in the tonemaster range. Specifically, a tweed deluxe and/or bassman!
Fender’s whole justification for the prices of the ToneMaster amps was that since they focused on one single amplifier model in each amp, they made them better than any of that same model you would get in multi-amp modellers. So if they turned around now and put that exact same quality amp models in this that are in the individual amps, they just shot themselves in the foot, because that would make the point that the Tone Master amps are overpriced, since you get *many* amp models and effects and cabs sims etc. in this for the price of one Tone Master amp. So my guess is that they will carry on with the amps, and just admit that the modelling of the amps in the pedal are not as good as the standalone ToneMaster amps.
Absolutely love my tone master deluxe! One if the best amps I’ve owned in 30 years of playing.
@@sdschroeder13 same! I love a good tube amp and I still own one (Tone King Imperial, which is amazing in its own right) but the TM deluxe is amazing too. And to be totally honest, I find myself plugging into the TM deluxe more than the tone king! Even I was surprised by that but hey, neither of them are going anywhere so I’m not fussed about it. 🙂
@@DrRobert65 Same! I’ve owned many, many tube amps (including vintage ones) over the years. Still hanging on to a 70’s silver face super reverb that I’ve always loved, but it’s so damn loud and it’s like carrying around a 40” CRT TV…but I feel like the TM Deluxe Reverb is the amp I’ve been searching for my whole life. And with the built-in attenuation, weight and time, I’m not sure I’ll keep my super other than to hand something vintage down to my kids.
Hype, hype and more hype. At the price point its not going to take any business from the existing main players in the high end multieffects market...
LOL 😆
I BET , that you won’t answer this Fender...
So you’re telling us , that this is far superior to Axe Fx lll or Line 6 Helix????? 🥴🥴🥴🥴
At first I was like...wow...so cool...then saw the $1600 price tag.......dang bruh....gotta pass
Insanely greedy pricing!
"Oh, Neural is earning a fortune. What shall we do? Ahm, maybe me-too? Oh yeah, thats great!"
Shocking shamelessness!
People want to know how long you're going to support this with updates for.
People want to know if this will be abandoned in 2 years.
Can Fender talk about this?
Ask Fender, they have an email address.
Most every modeling system sounds pretty great by now... that's the high bar everybody has to meet. What has me excited is the UI of this thing. It looks so much more straightforward than my current HX Effects setup.
Unless you have tiny doll's feet, this board is worse than useless for stage work: the buttons are way too close together. I have enough of a problem with unintentionally touching adjacent switches with my Line6 HXFX, and these buttons look to be about twice as packed together. Just try to hit one of those buttons in the middle with your toe, without touching any of the others, while singing, in a stage environment. Obviously not field-trialed.
I'm not so sure it would be a problem. The board is pretty big. Have you tried it in person?
Plug a bass into it or send it to me and I’ll make the video. This is embarrassing
なんか抜けが悪い。こもった音が多いな。低音が綺麗に出てないんだろうな。音というより機能面押しなのか?
このくらいなら10年ぐらい前のマルチエフェクターでも代用できる音だなぁ。
I NEVER look to fender for any modeling amp.
It may be a fantastic product and all, but $1699 is WILD
It looks and sounds good, seems like it has everything you could ever need but the price…£1600. I’ll stick with my boss me90.
Sounds good but if you can't capture amps mmm.... and the Heavy modellers sounds wierd in the demos 🙄
Had mine for a few weeks and really pleased with it. Great for Cleans and even better for Ambient Guitar. Already created Guitar Synth and Ambient guitar patches and video's. Best Wishes 🎶🎶🎶🎶😎😎😎😎
Funny, pretty much every RUclipsr who demo'ed the unit got better tones out of the unit than this official teaser. It looks nice, but truth be told, the flagship modeling units all sound excellent and it is all just a matter of personal preference and workflow. I anticipate that this one will have a bit of a hard time to penetrate the market based on its price tag. But thumbs up on the great effort - I liked Fender modeling ever since the Mustang series. Hopefully Fender will keep supporting and improving this platform.
All the effects here had the same tone, which is what I dislike the most about multi-effects pedals.
The price is just crazy. I’ve noticed it has been on sale a lot, probably because there aren’t a lot of people willing to spend $1,800 on amguitar effects. There are a lot of other good options with price tags that are a lot lower. I run through pedals and my whole setup was less that $1,800.
$2500 AUD. 😂. As if! Try $1000 or under. I wouldn't pay $800 for it. It's up against pedals that are really amazing and only cost between $499 and $1000 AUD. How can it possibly be more than double the price of a Fender tone master amp or even 4-5 times the price of a Fender GTX amp.🤷🏼♂️🤑😂 You guys have rocks in your heads.
Love the way it sounds. I have one complaint. why does this unit not have the expression pedal on it or included? for $1,700 we would expect this unit to be more complete. If I bought one I would spend money on an aftermarket expression pedal those costs so much less.
and bass?
Every guitar freak on Earth is texting even faster than they can shred right now!
Ha - ha ! Funny !!
I'm surprised how much classic Fender stuff is missing in this thing. You could have really separated this from the rest of the market with unique Fender models that few other modelers have. This feels boring and half-baked.
No tweed Deluxe or Twin, no brown-panel Deluxe or Princeton or Pro or Vibroverb, no Champs at all, no Vibrolux, no black-panel Bassman head. Even the Excelsior or Pro Jr would have been interesting additions.
It's just like what Leo Fender envisioned back in the day.
As seen in the video, just to let you know that Mission Engineering worked with Fender to make the co-branded and custom paint expression pedal to go with it. People that have already tried the TMP out tell me you cannot tell the difference between real amps and the models in a blind test. Can't wait to hear it for myself.
I’m gonna buy it just to add it to the collection, but if it’s in the same league as Helix/AxeFX/GT-1000 then it’s just user preference. They all sound indistinguishable in a mix anymore.
Fender needs to stick to making guitars and amplifiers. They copied the JHS 3 Series with the Hammertone Pedal series which was a huge flop, and now they’re just mimicking Quad Cortex and Helix. Come up with an original idea and don’t say that your the first or best of anything when it’s been done by brands like Kemper and Quad Cortex for years.
EVER my ass. As powerful my ass. It’s way too expensive. And late in a game where the products are already equal, cheaper, or more flexible. I ll keep my Helix and buy their next one.
sounds to me like all the other higher price-tag amp modelers of the last 10 years
It's a shame that Fender did not put on this promo a DISCO-FUNK guitar sound since this is one of the most important genre that made Fender famous . You have put the usual DUMB metal player that sounds the same like one million other.
I see Fender's jumped on the greedflation as well. $1,699.99 for a modeling pedal??
This looks very interesting. I like the part where you can set certain sounds to go along with your set list. Going to research this further.
Still in beta version software lol
What's groundbreaking? I don't see or hear anything other than combinations of things and designal already found in other digital devices.
This joker is expensive...
In terms of usability, this looks, by far, the easiest! LOVE the screen and flow of the effects and amps. Gonna have to try this baby out!
Also, that Jackson single cut is 🔥🔥🔥
So true, never seen one like that.@@JoshFryer
No you didn’t @Fender!
It's nice I guess, but what I was really hoping for was a Fender Tonemaster '59 Bassman.
Awesome, except is doesn’t have a capture function. If it had that I would switch from Quad Cortex, but without capture ability, that’s a deal breaker. I have lots of old classic amps and pedals that are not in the unit, so I need the ability to capture them and load them in.
What about BASSSS?!?
Seventeen. Hundred. Dollars. ????? 😂 Uh, nope.
Who in the hell has $1700 to shell out on anything? That's more than I have in my entire live performance rig.
The price point is high, particularly given the lack of an expression pedal and the fixed routing. And there are some glaring omissions on the amp front - No HiWatt, Soldano, Supro or Orange emulations. But the Fender amps are absolutely the business and there's a great selection of effects. No BD-2, but a Butler is great to have, and it's nice to see the Boss Dimension in there.
But competition is stiff, particularly when more and more are offering profiling (even the Mooer GE-300, and that's a third of the price). I'll stick with the Helix for now but keeping an eye on this. The inevitable price drops and updates might make it one to look at in the future. And of course, the demo sounds incredible.
Too expensive!!!
Sounds sweet. Nicest layout I've seen. Personally I think I'd just go for a tonemaster deluxe reverb and a few pedals
Congrats with the new product, Fender! For a while now, I was hoping that Fender would do something with the ToneMaster technology in the pedal realm. I was thinking more in the lines of individual pedals that model certain amps, you know.... competition for the dream 65 so to speak. So, I was thoroughly surprised when the 'leak' of this modeler popped up. I've just watched a few videos and it all looks and seems to sound nice. I believe it will hold up with certain similar products.... But there's a but... I get that you're targeting a wider audience, and that's your right. But, I would have stuck with the Fender ToneMaster amps only. You guys are Fender! Do Fender! If that would also take away some of the cost, that would be an instant buy for me. Now, as an amateur guitarist that's into recording, I feel that I'm not the target audience for this device, which is okay with me. But as I said, if in the future, you decide to have another go at a modeler, make it Fender amps only and budget friendly to all audiences. Good luck with the sales, nonetheless. ❤ Grtz, DD.
Sounds very tinny…digital treble overload
I’ve played a LOT of multi FX units in my days. I’ve used Kemper on tour for 5+ years. I mean it when I say this - I was genuinely impressed with the sounds out of this unit, and I’m usually terribly unimpressed with most pieces of gear lol. I’m not being paid to say this or anything like that, just sharing my honest opinion. Fender knocked it out of the park with this one!!!
I bought a Kemper a few months back(never used it yet) thought it would be a good tool for the future, when I do over seas shows. But, I kinda wish I didn't. Because THIS looks so much more appealing 😃
Love everything but the tones. It lacks that THAT elusive edge of breakup character and overall warmth. How could the UAFX Dream '65 have done it better yet? BUT... the package, the design and the technology IS THE WAY TO GO, FENDER! COME ON! KEEP ON GOING, you're almost there with the "perfect recreation" LOVE THIS!❤🔥😍
The price is crazy. How do they expect to compete with already well-founded and popular modelling companies?
What a great moment in history to play guitar... and being poor!
I am a Fractal User and I watched several videos and highly impressed. Everything is laid out well and very intuitive. I play in a variety band and the only guitar player and need a harmonizer with custom scales. Fractal and Boss are the only two doing custom scales for guitarist doing lead harmonies. Modes and scales do not work playing dual and triple lead harmonies. Your harmonizer only does one harmony and does modes, and scales but not custom scales. I need a unit that that I can chose all 12 notes in a scale and have two harmonies that you can select. Fractal units are great but very complex. I love the simplicity of this unit. Fractal is so popular because Cliff is relentless doing updates and listening to what musicians want and need. Profiling would also be good to implement for amps not in your unit. I will watch the updates and see what is updated and will purchase if you add dual custom harmonies. If I was in charge of operations, I would add dual custom harmonies, Matchless Amp, Dumble Amps, and profiling. I was turned off about the price at first, but when you listen to the videos and read both manuals it will make you see you are a very strong contender for Fractal, Line 6, and Boss. I think you just blew Line 6 and Boss out of the water. You have several things even Fractal does not have effects wise. Very impressive coming out of the gate. The secret to staying successful with this product is listen to your customers and update regularly. This is why Fractal users love them. Look at what the competition does and do it better.
Somewhat marketing driven 😂
Boring. Only one path??
I just bought a Headrush not too long ago. Had I known that this was coming out I might have waited and tried this out. This looks amazing and the interface is what I really like. Hopefully the software is easy enough. All in all though, it looks amazing and looking forward to seeing other reviews. Way to go Fender getting into this market. Well done!!
You're better off with Headrush. Fender's support for these things are unknown. Fractal, Kemper, Line6, and Headrush are all known to send consistent update to their products over the years. As of now, Fender is no different from random sub 200usd multi-effects system who gets updates within the first 6 months.
@@bassyey NeuralDSP has been great about supporting the Quad Cortex. I only use their VST plugins but I get emails about updates all the time. And honestly, if you import some Fender IR into the Quad Cortex, you can get pretty accurate sounds for amps like the Twin Reverb. I know I can get a beautiful representation of one using Archetype: Cory Wong.
@@bassyey I hope your headrush footswitches hold up than literally ANY of their other products have. Their FS are known for going bad, and fast.
@@calebbrinkley Quad Cortex has been a meme since before it came out. How's the effect pedal list coming along? Still miniscule?
Don't like it. Sounds thin.
Hmm, I'm not at all convinced
I am pretty biased towards Fender products, but I think this one is just far overpriced. At a half price you could get Bias FX 2 (full edition), Bias AMP (with that you can customize everything in an amp), interface, and the speaker with a pedal. And I think this doesn't have better sounds than that. Its nice to have everything in one place but thats only its positive. I would like to see how much these encoders can stand in a long term, without repairing. All in all Fender wants to step in a market which is great, but they have choosen a wrong way.
However if they make the software available to purchase to my hardwares, I promise I will switch Bias FX for it. Now I just wait patiently...
Plese add the 5150 EL34
The good aspects of this are really awesome but downsides I'm seeing currently make it a non starter for me. Namely the fixed routing, high price point, and fenders bad track record of not supporting their products with updates
There will be updates to the Tone Master Pro with new amps and effects every six months for years to come. Lots of good stuff too!
@rickslespaul not according to fenders history and updates also updates every 6 months isn't much when compared to fractal axe fx or the line 6 helix
We’ll, I work for Fender and the amp product team and I’m going in the record that we will be supporting this for years to come with updates, new amps, new effects, etc.
@@ricks66jazzmastersource: trust me bro
Excellent UI and I/O, probably the best among the rest of the modelers around, I hope Fender will continue to give upgrades/tweaks of the model and add amps/effects. If they will support this, this model will be the industry standard.
Will need to see this thrashed thoroughly before shelling-out $1700!
I have the original...the 2001 Cyber Twin...it finally crapped out on me. I have a '93 Super - Amp Pro-Series...can I run this this thing through that?
Todo bien, me encanta Fender, pero, por qué hicieron un diseño tan fiero? es un armatoste. Parece un electrónico de los años 90's.
Folks from Fender: looks really nice but IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE!!!! You are entering the modeler game now, you do not have a tradition and consistency as a software/hardware company and you are already charging this product as top notch. I’m sorry, but it’s not.
beside a great UI you are not offering anything different than other modelers. The IRs you are offering are not drastically different or better than the modelers in the market cheaper than Yours)- honestly, Fractal IRs are better than yours.
Would I buy this modeler: if it was cheaper, yes. At the current price tag, NO WAY!!!!
Hi. This pedalboard is for Bass Players too ? Bass Amps, Cabinets and Bass Effects Pedals are included in Original Presets ? Thanks.
For the cost of this thing, it seems like it’s marketed towards professionals rather than the average bedroom guitarist.
Anyone here who works in the industry got any thoughts on the price of this thing?
The folks demoing this magic box can obviously play well, but I'm very underwhelmed by the tones that have been recorded here. They sound, I dunno, sterile and stiff? Looks like a great design, but this video isn't making me want one.
Would love a Tweed version. Just saying….
Love the tone at 4:12.Does it come with a tone sampler like the Tones & Headrush? Tones are great fro what I hear.Hope they drop to a feasible price for what it's worth though.
Sorry guys but it was an immediate no. Great for beginners I guess? The high gain does not crunch but the low frequencies crumble, not a good tone. The clean or slight break up tones are all wet with delay/ reverb distractions. I don't know how much but a tube amp is going to be more for sure, start saving your money for the tube amp.
Sorry Fender, I get it, this day in age and all, thank you for still making excellent tube amplifiers!
Yeah, they don’t sound exactly right. I wish you’d make us a tone master 22 or 55 super sonic head not that thing too damn expensive and you gotta buy the speaker for it separately which makes it even more expensive. Do you think people are made of money, not in this economy.
Its great but can we get the following:
Ability to browse new (and user added) presets online without having to connect the TMP to a computer and view through the app - why no website to view new presets etc - I don't have a home studio set up so have to grab my laptop or take the TMP to my desk etc just to check if there is a preset I might want to download
More Fender artists presets - if they are Fender artists already why can't you publish presets to recreate that artists tone? Instead of having to decrypt the names you have given to the presets on the unit
More control over the presets being posted - like when Apple released the App Store - they were super tight on quality, it looks like 'anything goes' already with user preset quality and naming - its looking messy already
You introduce some competition to the user presets - upvoting good presets, tagging with artist/band/song names, awarding people for putting up good presets - I wouldn't be against paying a small charge for presets that are accurate to a particular band or song or just for unique presets that are worth downloading
