As a longtime Armored Core fan these prices are heavily inflated, Armored Core 2 was a $10-15 game all day long for years. If you really want to experience the games either emulate them or just wait for the prices to come down. Don't get burned!
You're right, none of them have ever been super expensive. I couldn't believe it when I saw titles going for over a hundred dollars! What game is your favorite out of all the ones you've played?
the only games I can recommend not emulating are the xbox 360/PS3 titles, only because getting your hands on the consoles is easy enough. otherwise emulate them all. verdict day and for answer are out of the question of buying a physical copy tho. however 5 and 4 are still reasonable
The fact they didn't put any of the AC games on the PS Store is mind blowing. Talk about the amount of money they left on the table by not putting the games in the store.
You can still get the original game and Verdict Day on the PS3 store. The PSP/Vita store has some of the portable titles as well but that's it unfortunately. Like you say, a missed opportunity for them.
It's totally because of the announcement of the new game, like you said! My only concern is that now that some sellers are able to get those inflated prices, will they all drop down once the honeymoon phase is over with the new game? I hope so! Great video and keep up the good work!
Hey Dan yeah I'm sure a lot of people are wondering the same thing! The prices might take a while to get back to where they were but I can't imagine them staying this high forever.
I got a sealed copy of Silent Line a couple years back for 10 bucks, granted, the seller messed up and the actual price was 25, I told him that I didn't mind paying the price his son had put on the game but he said it wouldn't be right to tell me one price and then charge me another, respect I still got it sealed, I feel very tempted to sell it now that it's going for about 200, but honestly I don't know if I'd find one again in the future if the prices come back down, I don't need the money so I think I'll keep it, but man, I'm sure gonna be thinking about it
Haha quite a dilemma for sure. It's hard to really know what will happen in the future so I think you're probably doing the right thing. If you like having the game and don't need the money just hold onto it. Who knows maybe the sealed copies will just hold their value now anyway!
Though I ended up spending about $150 total on the original trilogy, it was because I went for the whole thing. All discs, reproduction cases if I couldn't get the authentic case, and even the manuals. It was way more than it needed to be, but I can now proudly say I own a copy of every single AC game, with manuals intact, no missing pages, and cases for every game (AC1 and Project Phantasma having REALLY good reproduction cases, they look spot on). That said, yeah, prices are pretty freaking high right now, I'd only suggest getting the games if you're serious about putting in the hours and commitment. Now, as for reselling goes... I don't think I will until I'm getting too old, and even then, I don't think I'd sell them in anything but the complete collection I have now.
Sounds like you collected them the right way man, getting them for a decent price and because you actually liked having a full set of the games! I'd keep them as well especially since it sounds like you put some work into getting them.
Same thing happened with Kings field games. It's still relatively cheap to get psp armored core games. Also if you emulate them on the vita you can program the right analog stick for your camera movement. It really helps to modernize the titles for those who don't like using the shoulder buttons to look around.
From soft is leaving money on the table by not releasing the games digitally. I have all the physical games but play them emulated on my pc for better performance. With that said i would gladly pay full price if they digitally released them because they still hold up and play so well
The new trailer is freaking awesome. The shots and music were freaking perfect. Got chills! So yeah it made me want to play the old ones lol. Never have though. Plus From Software is riding high right now due to Elden Ring.
I honestly got chills too man, the mechs look like they're in some kind of epic war! I'm hoping the actual game is as good as the cinematic they put together. It will be on the PS4 too which is nice.
Yeah they're fun for what they are. I have AC3 and For Answer but I've never sunk a whole lot of time into either. If the new game is as good as the cinematic I'd be interested in trying it though.
It's simple because of the new game in the series coming out soon, this is a common dynamic with any new game in a popular franchise coming out drums up nostalgia for the older ones. I prefer the old Xbox "Mech Assault" games anyway.
@philberto78 Sadly no bud, we would have seen a sequel during the 360/PS3 gen or the XB1/PS4 era by now, tragic as there's numerous fantastic game franchises dead in the water like my beloved "Manhunt", "Killzone" & "Midnight Club" just to name a few of my favorites with little to no hope for a well deserved follow up on new hardware.
this is why i hate fear too miss out and over hyping a game series this is what happen too xenosaga episode 3 stuck at 300 sadly i had too import them in japan for xenosaga i just emulate them on pc
Was the price of Xenosaga 3 raised by hype also? I remember it used to be not super expensive until just a few years ago. I see more and more people like you in my comments saying they're just emulating now.
It's really obvious why there all expensive. 1. New game announcement after almost 10 years without a new entry 2. FromSoftware made these games. A developer who always makes near perfect games, loved by the community, and pretty much the last triple A developer that deserves respect. So people want to play everything else they made before Demon's Souls. That's why Kuon, Echo Night, Shadow Tower, etc. are very expensive these days. 3. A lot of new players have been introduced to series with Armored Core VI's announcement since FromSoftware has gotten VERY popular these days. So for those that are jumping in for the 1st time with the older games re-sellers are taking advantage of them. It's gonna be a long time until the prices come down since there is a lot of hype around this series now all thanks to FromSoftware's name is on it. I don't believe these games are rare compared to other older FromSoftware games but they are currently hard to find since lots of people have bought so many of the games that have been listed online and they won't be showing up again until the hype dies down and then we will be seeing pages of listings for the games that are NTSC.
More accurately, a lot of Dark Souls fans have learned about a whole series of From Software games they have never heard of and are suddenly rushing the market. I've seen a lot of folks express excitement about Armored Core 6 with some variant of "I've never heard of Armored Core, but I know the kind of games Fromsoft makes and I'm incredibly excited about Dark Souls With Robots." "I know the kind of games Fromsoft makes" is a direct quote from several folks. I'm just hoping the excitement from all the fresh blood doesn't backfire and destroy AC6. There's a LOT of people piling into the Armored Core Hype Train that have very skewed ideas about what's waiting for them at the last stop. I hope they all become true ravens, but I fear they're going to declare the game to be shit when it's not actually Dark Souls With Robots. ... I'm also hoping for a 3D Dot Game Hero 2, but that's PROBABLY just me.
Yes I think people really started noticing them when they made the Dark Souls series and now they're really famous! They started the Armored Core series back in the late 90s.

Yes I think the mech customization is probably the best part of the games.
